Chapter 109 - Chapter 109 – Decadent Foods as Common People’s Delight

Third-person POV

Two figures came in, one of them is one of Chanchal's servants, and another is one of Dark Trade's high-ranking commanders (ones with red shades and often dressed in grey modern combat attire), Hyuuga Breta. The servant was there to serve tea for her master, while Hyuuga's purpose of his presence here is to give his latest reports of a successful smuggling operation of stolen Otherworlder tech and Falleta-made products to one of Vatrene's off-the-mainland island ports. The resulting operation had gained another 10,000 Oros (currency of Falleta) as their income.

Hearing that, Chanchal held the big and heavy money bag and smirked. "Ah, another successful victory for the Demon Queen and us…"

His mind shifted to his hatred of one person: Basilio Valencia.

Basilio's POV

It's been 2 weeks since the new Vamzom Pills had been successfully made and were in use for temporary strength for Vamzoms and non-Vamzoms during battles or tight situations (this required permission from the Vamzom generals before using and swallowing one). I was now on the outskirts of Sárga Madár, having some free time with Benjamín and Kahraman. Chivo and Romana are my guards for this visit in the Dimwell city. As we were relaxing in the forests near some homes of Sárga Madár's outskirts, I noticed something off at the afternoon tea and snacks of some commoners nearby: decadent-like food on their commoners' tables, and they ate it as if they could do that.

Upon closer look from a distance, I saw the following snacks: pistoles (specialized crunchable chocolate coins from 18th century France), cups of Hot Chocolate with, by the words who took a sip of it, an orange flavour, and heaps of brioche (a rich, buttery bread).

Wait…these are some of Marie Antoinette's favourite foods!

Seeing my face, Romana, Chivo, Benjamín, and Kahraman explained to me that, thanks to the technology introduced by the Otherworlders, decadent foods like these had been accessible to the common people as their delights. It resulted from the technology that improved production of raw ingredients to make them, and the advanced methods and machinery to turn them into the ones aristocrats thought they were the only ones who could afford them. Now, these foods are cheap, and Kahraman noted that, since one of his classmates was from this district, a load of brioche costs only 2-5 Presas in this district.

"Yes, a box of pistoles would only set you 5-6 Presas," Benjamín added, "though most nobles and aristocrats still prefer slightly high-quality ones."

"But hey, the food class divide thinned drastically!" Katsuko chirped.

Because of these, I felt that this world had the best of both worlds in terms of food class.
