From above, a massive wave of petals descended like a storm.
The pink petals flooded the stairwell like a rushing tide. In an instant, the narrow space was filled with swirling pink.
Sylas immediately raised his hand. A translucent space barrier expanded around the two of them.
Rustle! Rustle! Rustle!
Thousands of petals slammed against the barrier. The soft petals looked harmless, yet each one carried a razor-sharp edge. Tiny ripples appeared across the surface of the barrier.
Assistant Lin's expression grew serious.
"This thing doesn't want us reaching it."
Sylas didn't reply. His eyes were fixed on the staircase above.
The petals continued pouring downward, as if the entire tree was trying to bury them alive.
"We have to break through," Sylas said calmly.
Assistant Lin nodded.
Green light flared from her palm again. Thin vines shot out from the cracked walls and wrapped around the railing and the stairs. The vines twisted together, forming thick tendrils.
