Chapter 619 - 619: Complex, Diverse, and Overwhelmingly Powerful Witchcraft

"Powerful spells, you say?"

Ryen thought for a moment, then spoke calmly:

"In the Witchery mod, master-tier spells are synonymous with power. They're all secret arts that touch upon the laws of reality."

"If we're only talking about raw damage, it's hard to rank them."

"But if we're talking about how bizarre they are…"

"There are indeed many truly terrifying spells."

He straightened his posture and looked around at everyone.

"Resurrection, a spell that can revive the dead."

"Forcefield, although it's only an advanced-tier spell, it can forcibly trap any enemy within a designated area, preventing escape."

"Time Stasis, no need for explanation. You've all seen my Time Stasis. It manipulates the power of time itself, and when combined with certain accessories, it can completely freeze time within a region."

"Possession, seizing control of a designated creature's body for thirty seconds. I can't even be sure what the upper limit of this spell is, but ideally…"

"This spell should never exist."

Seeing how serious Ryen's expression was, everyone nodded solemnly.

Possession truly crossed a moral boundary. Everyone felt it was better treated as if it didn't exist at all.

"Curse of Binding Life, links the target's life to the caster's. If the caster is injured, the target is injured. If the caster dies, the target dies."

"It's a mutual-destruction spell. Of course, if you have a Totem of Undying, it's less of an issue, but still, avoid using it if possible."

"Worth noting: milk cannot cleanse curses. Only Purifying Holy Water or a Curse Removal spell works."

"Curse of the Undead, inflicts zombie-like traits on the target. In other words, they will ignite and burn to death under sunlight."

"These spells are… rather insidious. I don't want you using them, but in case you encounter enemies who do, stay alert."

After seeing everyone carefully write this down with furrowed brows, Ryen added seriously:

"The necromantic spells from the Twilight Forest bundle were acceptable, those weren't especially dangerous."

"But once you obtain the complete Witchery necromantic spells, make sure to ask me exactly what they do."

"These spells are both harmful to others and to yourselves. Be careful."

Seeing everyone nod in agreement, he continued:

" Black Hole, creates a black hole that forcibly draws in all creatures within a certain area, except the caster."

"After pulling them in, it deals continuous damage. If the Void Eye Stone is equipped, it will even absorb blocks."

"It has incredibly strong crowd control and sustained damage. It's widely acknowledged as one of the strongest spells."

"Healing Aura, a large-scale continuous healing spell. It rapidly restores HP to all allied lifeforms: humans, pets, summons, everything."

"It also deals continuous damage to undead creatures."

"Whoever holds this spell is the world's top-tier healer."

"And it's only an advanced-tier spell."

Everyone hurriedly resumed writing.

"Apprentice-tier spell: Life Detection, allows you to sense the presence of all living beings in the surrounding area. A very strong combat support spell."

"Invisibility, unlike invisibility potions, this is true invisibility. When combined with the beginner spell Silencing Magic…"

"You can completely erase your presence. However, Sixth Sense can counter it."

"Advanced-tier spell: Rain, directly alters the weather over a large area. Extremely effective in Teyvat."

"Blink, spatial magic. Instantly relocates you. Apprentice-tier secret art with very short cooldowns. After upgrading cooldown reduction, you can blink repeatedly in a short time."

"Phase Step, unlike Blink, it even allows you to pass through walls."

"Teleport…"

Ryen paused, watching the furious scribbling of pens.

"Time magic. Master-tier. It manipulates the caster's personal time flow, letting one second feel like several hours."

"It's dangerous, but it can be very powerful in combat. Just be mindful."

Everyone exchanged complicated looks.

Another time-based spell…

It felt as if, within Witchery, time itself was something to be toyed with.

"Advanced-tier petrification, similar to Zhongli's Planet Befall, turning enemies to stone for a period."

"Apprentice-tier spell: Courage, a mobile beacon. You know what that means, right?"

"Transcendence, no need to explain. Hu Tao has it. Continuous invincibility. Even if the world explodes, she's fine."

"Beginner spell: Confusion, confuses enemies, preventing them from attacking."

Ryen listed several more spells, many of which weren't even master-tier.

Yet their strange effects far exceeded those of master spells.

The more everyone listened, the more conflicted they felt.

Scaramouche, however, was exhilarated.

Just hearing about these spells felt like stepping beyond common sense.

Soul manipulation. Playing with time.

These were things he had never even dared to imagine.

At this point, what use was a Gnosis?

Give him a master-tier staff and a few powerful spells, and he could march straight up to Raiden Shogun and issue a formal duel.

The real problem now was,

How could he stay here and obtain a staff?

That… likely depended on his aunt.

As he thought this, Scaramouche looked at Makoto with eyes full of devotion.

If she was willing to help, he didn't mind being a filial grand nephew.

"Pfft…"

Hu Tao smacked her lips and looked at her densely packed notebook.

"I knew full Witchery would be powerful, but…"

"I never imagined it would be this absurd."

"These spells, even the non-master ones, have terrifying effects."

"Even beginner spells can be insane. Just that Blink alone, couldn't we basically teleport nonstop?"

Lumine sighed, sounding troubled.

"Let's put that aside for now. I have a question…"

"Why are the Witchery spells from the Twilight Forest bundle so weak?!"

"Even master-tier spells there don't compare to the beginner spells in the full Witchery mod!"

"My three advanced-tier staves feel useless now! These spells suddenly seem so underwhelming!"

Ryen chuckled.

"If you don't want them, you can always return them."

"No way! Do you think I'm stupid?!"

Lumine huffed.

"Even if the spells are weaker, the staff itself is still great!"

"Worst case, once we get spell books later, I'll just swap them out!"

"Besides, not all my spells are bad, Lich Barrier is insanely strong!"

"Forcibly negates any damage five times. Unless someone has Transcendence, I'm never replacing that spell!"

She lifted her chin proudly.

At that moment, Scaramouche finally understood.

So this was how Lumine had humiliated him so thoroughly.

Forced negation of all damage.

No wonder even Musou no Hitotachi couldn't break through.

With a spell like that, failing to tank it would be the strange thing.

He silently etched Lich Barrier into his memory.

Right now, he didn't even have a staff, let alone spells.

The most urgent matter was figuring out what they planned to do with him.

Punishment didn't bother him. Hard labor was fine.

As long as he was allowed to stay in this world.

If necessary, he'd recognize an aunt, or even a grandmother.

"The Twilight Forest Witchery bundle is weaker, but it's not completely useless."

Ryen explained lightly.

"At the very least, Lich Barrier and Annihilation Beam are excellent spells."

"The full Witchery mod has far too many spells. It'll take a long time before you obtain the truly suitable ones."

"Until then, Lich Barrier remains a uniquely powerful spell."

Suddenly, Tartaglia raised his hand.

"I have a question!"

Ryen nodded for him to speak.

"If someone uses Lich Barrier, and then gets hit by the Sword of Universal Dominion, can the barrier block it?"

Ryen raised an eyebrow.

"I haven't tested that. Want to try standing there with a shield while I slash you?"

Tartaglia immediately shrank back, laughing awkwardly.

"Let's not. If it fails, your Sword of Universal Dominion ignores Totems of Undying."

"Or… how about Scaramouche? He's still in the atonement phase."

"Even if he dies, we can just revive him with a totem!"

Scaramouche stared at Tartaglia in shock.

He knew Tartaglia lacked a sense of camaraderie,

But he hadn't expected him to be this heartless.

Using a colleague as a test subject?

Even Dottore had standards!

Before Scaramouche could protest, Ryen rolled his eyes.

"Lich Barrier won't block it."

"If the Sword of Universal Dominion and Lich Barrier appear together, priority goes to the sword."

"In other words, the barrier will be ignored."

"One slash, guaranteed death."

On this, Ryen was very confident.

From a logic-priority standpoint, the Sword of Universal Dominion could even kill Creative Mode gods.

Lich Barrier couldn't block Creative Mode attacks.

That meant,

Against the Sword of Universal Dominion, Lich Barrier was completely useless.

"What about Transcendence?"

Hu Tao blinked curiously.

That question finally stumped Ryen.

He frowned, thought for a moment, then shook his head.

"Not sure. Transcendence removes the caster from the world."

"In theory, the caster becomes untargetable and unattackable."

"If they no longer exist within this world, then it's not about defense."

"It's that the Sword of Universal Dominion can't even hit them."

"These two logics don't conflict."

"The sword's logic is: anything it can hit, and that isn't immune to melee, dies in one strike."

"Transcendence's logic is: cannot be attacked, cannot attack, cannot even interfere with the world."

"Like an observer standing outside reality."

"So in that sense, the sword can't harm Transcendence, but Transcendence also can't affect the sword."

The more Ryen explained, the more confident he became.

Finally, he clapped his hands.

"Case closed. The Sword of Universal Dominion and Transcendence do not affect each other."

"In a sense, Transcendence is the only spell that can escape the sword's killing strike."

Hu Tao smiled smugly.

"Looks like my Transcendence really is superior."

"But you can't attack while using it."

Ryen shrugged.

"Once your mana runs out, facing absolute killing power, death is inevitable."

"Tch… would you really have the heart to use the Sword of Universal Dominion on me?"

Hu Tao countered.

Ryen shook his head immediately.

"Of course not. That sword exists to protect you all."

Hu Tao happily hugged his arm.

"Then doesn't that settle everything?"
