Chapter 143 - Ch 143. Tsunade's x Medical Department

Hearing Ron speak of the realm of Super Shadow, a level that transcended the natural limits of countless ninjas and ninja beasts, lifeforms already regarded as supernatural by ordinary civilians of the ninja world, Katsuya Sage merely smiled. After all, as a sage who had already reached that realm herself, she was one of the most unique beings in existence. Ron's words were not arrogance or fantasy; they were simply observations from someone who understood the surpassed ceiling most beings could never touch. In that sense, she could relate.

After that, Tsunade and her tagalongs said little, and Ron left to attend to the laboratory beneath his home. There, he intended to go over the data his father had recorded about his own body before departing, records that tracked changes occurring in real time. Whatever was happening to the Raikage was no longer a matter of proven theory but uncharted changes.

Tsunade, meanwhile, made her way toward Kumogakure's Medical Department. She stood before its vast grounds, then proceeded inside, moving through multiple sections to personally observe how injuries were treated and how medical procedures were handled within Kumogakure.

She was immediately shocked by the widespread use of Medical Hibernation Chambers, a technology so alien it made her wonder if it was still the ninja world.

When the technology first emerged in Kumogakure, it was rare, experimental, and concealed. Now, however, such chambers were relatively common. That said, there were clear distinctions. The publicly accessible chambers were designed for civilians, genin, and chunin, and while effective, they were limited in scope and ability as the required nutrition and concentration were different. Jonin-level ninjas and higher had access to specialized chambers that were far more advanced. These were located within the Raikage Building and other heavily guarded facilities, many of them protected by ANBU. Access required approval from high-level medical ninjas, especially when usage was requested through the central Medical Department.

Kumogakure's Medical Department itself had grown into a massive institution, occupying a substantial portion of land at the very heart of the village. At its center stood the General Hospital, an integrated facility that made use of numerous modern systems, vaccination programs, general surgery, routine checkups, and emergency care. It was staffed by ordinary medical ninjas and a surprising number of civilian doctors who had mastered their crafts, all working side by side.

Beyond that was an entirely separate Specialized Department. This division consisted of senior medical ninjas, most of them jonin-level, who dealt directly with severe injuries, rare conditions, and high-risk cases. It also housed research and development teams that worked closely with the Hollow Mountain Research Center. Unlike the General Hospital, which focused on treatment and service, this department existed to study, innovate, and advance the very foundations of medical ninjutsu and care and development.

These senior medical ninjas were responsible for developing, maintaining, and operating the advanced hibernation chambers. Compared to the public versions, these chambers provided far more complex nutritional support and stronger restorative effects, making them suitable for jonin and elite ninjas. Due to the intensity and vulnerability of the process, ninjas who were inside were completely rendered unconscious due to how the medical chambers worked. As a result, these areas were always supervised by senior medical staff and guarded by ANBU, unlike the general chambers, which even civilians could access.

As Tsunade explored the General Hospital, she was soon noticed and approached by Kohana, who had just returned to active duty in the Medical Department after her escort mission.

Kohana walked up to her with a smile. "Sister Tsunade, you're here. This area is just the General Hospital. Aunt Raiya isn't working today; she stayed home, but I can show you the Research Department, also known as the Specialized Division. That's where all the new and advanced work is happening."

Tsunade followed her without hesitation. They passed through another guarded entrance, and both Tsunade and those accompanying her were allowed through after a brief identity verification. The ease of it made one thing clear: Kumogakure had no intention of hiding its medical advancements from her.

Inside, Tsunade found herself staring into a world she had only vaguely imagined. Medical ninjas and ordinary researchers worked together, studying microscopic structures in the realm of bacteria, cells, blood composition, and even DNA. They sought to understand what blood truly was, not just as a chakra medium, but as a physical system governed by natural laws.

It was an entirely new frontier. One that even normal people without chakra could explore.

Tsunade couldn't help but compare it to Konoha and the Land of Fire. Even with the knowledge inherited from her grandfather and the Senju legacy, their technology had never reached this level of precision. When studying bloodline limits, Konoha's approach had always been crude by comparison, attempting to observe outcomes, transplant flesh or blood, and draw conclusions from success or failure. True genetic or Chakra understanding had never been within reach.

Here, it was different. She could not help but think, "Someone like Orochimaru would love it here!'

Kohana continued guiding her through the facilities, explaining various projects. What caught Tsunade's attention most was Kumogakure's research into limb regeneration. Beyond mastering surgery, vaccines, and emergency care, things civilians desperately needed but ninjas often overlooked, they were pushing toward something far more ambitious.

Medical ninjutsu could already accomplish astonishing feats, and the Medical Hibernation Chamber itself was nothing short of miraculous. In theory, it could allow a person to regrow limbs and recover from catastrophic injuries by placing the body into a growth state similar to that of a fetus.

But theory and reality were different matters.

Most ninja bodies simply lacked the innate capability to regenerate to that extent. Even when they did, the process was slow and uncertain. Because of this, the most reliable approach in cases of severe injury remained a combination of advanced surgery and medical ninjutsu, reattaching severed limbs, stabilizing cell mass, and preserving body structure immediately after injury.

Once stabilized, the injured individual could then be placed into a Medical Hibernation Chamber. With proper nutrition, chakra balance, and long-term healing support, they would eventually recover fully, be like a newborn again.

Pure medical ninjutsu could theoretically achieve similar results, but at an immense cost. Yang-style healing techniques demanded tremendous cellular division, rapidly consuming the body's vitality unless the user possessed Yang-type power on the level of the Six Paths.

In severe cases, after medical ninjutsu and surgery, stabilizing the injury and body structure, the Hibernation medical chamber was simply the superior option, but Medical Ninnjas and jutsu still remain important and are not something that will become obsolete.

After surgery and medical ninjutsu restored the body to a viable state, the Medical Hibernation Chamber allowed healing without pushing the patient's body beyond its natural limits, of course cell division was still happening but in that process the body was also being supplemented and was in absolute sense of comfort and repair for all cells so body was solely focused and relaxed on maintaining the body nothing else, making it not just a marvel of technology, but the safest path forward, compared to forecefull cell division and replacement; repair and recovery and rejuvinaiton was simply god send.
