Maria suddenly burst into laughter.
"You're just trying to dodge responsibility!" she accused. "You're making all of this up to escape!"
Adam remained calm, nodding slightly. "If you insist, we can do a DNA test."
Without hesitation, he reached up and plucked a strand of his own hair, placing it on the table before sliding it toward her. "Use this."
Maria fell silent, momentarily stunned, but she still took the sample.
When the DNA test results came back, the truth hit her like a collapsing wall.
There was no biological connection.
Her hands trembled as she stared at the report, her vision blurring as tears welled up and spilled over.
'It's not his…' The realization shattered her carefully constructed plans.
There was nothing left for her to hold onto.
But even then, a stubborn resolve flickered within her.
'I won't lose like this…'
With that thought, she bribed the hospital staff to alter the report and began investigating Adam's routine.
