Chapter 927 - HR Chapter 509 A Brand-New History (3)

Yes. Something about Cthulhu's reaction was off.

Its attacks were becoming targeted. It was no longer just unleashing overwhelming power; instead, it seemed to be trying to strip away, capture, and devour the qualities radiating from Ian's spells and the depths of his soul.

Earlier, Ian had cast a powerful Patronus Charm. Silver-white light had briefly swept away the green mist and surrounding whispers. Yet one of Cthulhu's tentacles ignored the Patronus's natural suppression of negative energy and forced its way through the silver glow.

A sucker-filled mouth split open at its tip, madly draining the scattered Patronus energy. The tentacle sizzled as it burned, but Cthulhu released a satisfied, spine-chilling mental ripple.

'What's going on?'

Ian immediately realized something was wrong, making him hesitant to summon his Patronus again. And he was right, Cthulhu was clearly fascinated by his power of hope.

Moments later, backed into a corner, memories surfaced in Ian's mind, the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, everyone standing together as one, their beliefs and determination united. That faith silently bolstered his Shield Charm, its radiance flaring up to drive back a Mind Shriek.

"Good... good... good!"

The dark-green fire in Cthulhu's eyes flared with terrifying intensity as it fixated on that light of faith. Its colossal body trembled with excitement, like an addict who had just discovered the ultimate high.

"Sweet... Contradictory hope... Born from a fairy-tale world... Only the purest beauty... can nurture... the ultimate madness and despair... when it falls..."

Fragments of shattered thoughts crashed into Ian's mind alongside an even more frenzied assault. The realization hit him like lightning, connecting every piece of the puzzle.

Why would his world, that seemingly low-magic universe, the world of Hogwarts, filled with fairy tales and hope, attract a creature like Cthulhu, a symbol of ultimate chaos and madness? Why was it so greedy for the "taste" of hope?

It wasn't a coincidence.

It was because ultimate fairy tales, ultimate goodness, and ultimate hope contained within themselves, within the very soil that nurtured them, the potential for something equally extreme. Potential Cthulhu could twist into corruption.

The brighter the light, the darker the shadow it casts.

Perhaps Cthulhu and the other rulers of the Old Ones didn't just enjoy destruction. What they truly craved was dragging the most beautiful things into the deepest chaos and madness, savoring the sight of something falling from its highest peak into the abyss.

The despair. The madness. The corruption born from that fall. To them, that was the ultimate feast.

A world capable of producing a "fairy tale" like Hogwarts, a dimension capable of nurturing wizards with such resilient hope, was an unimaginably rich hunting ground. They weren't invading a weak world; they were eyeing a treasure vault overflowing with raw material for corruption.

Ian's second homeland. Everything he cherished. The goodness of Hogwarts and that world, the very source of his strength, was the exact beacon that had drawn this catastrophic threat.

"No..."

The word slipped through Ian's clenched teeth before erupting like a volcano.

"I WILL NEVER ALLOW IT!"

His anger was boundless, yet far from wild or uncontrolled. It was a cold, absolute resolve that nothing could shake.

He would never let these filthy, insane ancient gods reach their tentacles toward the world he cherished. He would never let Hogwarts' towers be stained by madness, nor let the smiles of those he loved twist into cries of despair.

In this universe, protection and love held infinite power. That unwavering desire to protect became fuel poured into a furnace, igniting everything within him.

His magical power roared.

The core of his magic, which had begun to wane, broke past its limits under the weight of his absolute refusal. It multiplied wildly, boiling over as every drop saturated with his will and shone with the light of protection.

His imagination burned.

Hogwarts hadn't just taught him spells; it had taught him to believe in possibilities, to expect miracles. Now, that imagination was no longer bound by known magic. It transformed into a brilliant blueprint: a blueprint for victory and banishment.

"The shining Ian has arrived!"

Apparently, he still hadn't gotten over the Ultraman Tiga reference. And Ian really 'was' glowing.

The Law of Paradox roared as the Authority of the Fire of the Old Ones trembled, both operating, refining, and transforming with unprecedented efficiency, infused and elevated by his sheer will. Within the furnace of his determination, an absolute, unquestionable fact was being forged: a fact attempting to force itself into the reality of this chaotic battlefield.

"In the name of Ian Prince! In the name of the wisdom and courage bestowed upon me by Hogwarts! In the name of the fairy tales I've witnessed and the hope I carry within me! With the fire I have stolen, I will defend the light in my heart!"

Ian poured everything into his wand, all his magical power, all his will, all his control over the Old Fire Authority, and all his mastery over the Law of Paradox. Every beautiful memory, every conviction to protect Hogwarts and his homeland, he held nothing back.

He pointed his wand at the sky-blotting nightmare before him.

He no longer needed a specific incantation. In this moment, he was magic, and magic was him, a manifestation of his resolve, an extension of his desire to protect, and the ultimate counterattack of a fairy tale against a nightmare.

"For the world I love, BE GONE!"

No blinding beam shot from his wand. There was no deafening explosion.

Instead, silence spread.

A vast Ocean of Light manifested, so brilliant words failed to capture it, yet incomparably gentle. It wasn't a single color, but held the silver glow of the starry ceiling above Hogwarts' Great Hall, the crimson and gold of Gryffindor's courage, the sky blue of Ravenclaw's wisdom, the bright yellow of Hufflepuff's loyalty, and the emerald green of Slytherin's ambition. It carried the colors of changing seasons, the warmth of friendship, the brilliance of knowledge, and the joy of growing up.

It was the sum of everything that made up the beautiful essence of that fairy-tale world.

It was beautiful and filled with hope, yet carried an absolute, indefilable will of expulsion.

At the center of that Ocean of Light flowed a deep, dark-green stream of fire, constantly devouring the surrounding chaos while remaining guided and restrained by the Light of Hope. Transparent ripples spread through the light as well, twisting and rejecting abnormal logic. Both Authorities had been incorporated into it.

Just as Ian had once said, there was no inherently evil power, only evil users. In this moment, those words were proven beyond doubt.

The Ocean of Light expanded silently. It didn't seem fast, yet it appeared to transcend the limits of time.

Every tentacle Cthulhu extended, every breath of madness it spewed, every beam of evil fire from its eyes, the instant they touched the light, they melted away like snow beneath a blazing sun. They weren't violently destroyed, but denied and purified by a higher-order law originating from the essence of pure, beautiful existence.

"Impossible! This is merely the soil! How can the soil attack me?!"

The parts of Cthulhu's colossal body touched by the radiance grew unstable. Its scales lost their luster, and its tentacles softened and withered, as if the very foundation of its existence were crumbling.

"No! This light... this hope... should be my nourishment!"

For the first time since the battle began, Cthulhu unleashed its sharpest, most terrified, and most greedy mental scream. It struggled frantically, throwing all its remaining power into a bid to fight back and devour the light.

But against this Light of Hope, forged from Ian's absolute will to protect, the Law of Paradox, and the tamed Authority of the Old Ones, Cthulhu's chaotic power met its natural enemy. It was driven back step by step.

"Aaaagh!"

The Ocean of Light completely swallowed Cthulhu's mountain of flesh. There was no explosion, only absolute light and absolute silence.

At the heart of that radiance, countless scenes flickered into view: Hogwarts Castle standing peacefully beneath the sky, students laughing on the grounds, friends chatting by a warm fireplace, sparks forming bright patterns during Charms class.

Every scene represented a tangible, warm hope, something Cthulhu could never understand. It was an Order and goodness that could not be devoured, only suppressing the Old One instead.

"Your world... cannot escape!"

The maddening will of the Old One released one final, silent scream as it was engulfed by those endless scenes of beauty, a scream filled with unwillingness, fear, and boundless hatred.

Then silence fell.

Not death. Its true existence hadn't been destroyed, but its manifested body, its concentrated will, and the core essence of its power had been purified by Ian's all-out assault, and then seized.

The sky-blotting shadow vanished. The whispers of madness fell silent. The green mist receded like the tide, leaving only the shattered, quiet ruins of R'lyeh.

At their center stood a figure whose sun-like radiance was slowly fading.

"Cough! Cough, cough!"

Ian dropped to one knee, leaning on his wand as he gasped for air. His face was paper-white and his body trembled with sheer exhaustion, but his eyes were brighter than ever.

Inside his mind, system notifications flooded down like a waterfall, each highlighted with unprecedented urgency.

{Legendary Proof updated, Title obtained: Chaos Overseer.}

The system was going wild, and Ian could feel why.

Power, indescribable power, so vast that even he felt a trace of fear, was settling deep within his soul. This wasn't a simple energy buildup. These were rules. Authority. A grasp over the two ultimate concepts of Chaos and Order.

Most of it was sealed for now, but the very nature of his existence had changed. He felt a deeper connection to the fundamental rules of reality itself.

"As a wizard... I've stolen the status of an ancient god."

Ian slowly stood. Weak as he was, his back remained perfectly straight. His gaze swept over the silent ruins of R'lyeh before settling where Cthulhu's palace had once stood.

Nothing remained. Only an empty, unsettling void, as if the entire area had been wiped clean. A few drifting fragments of chaotic energy slowly faded into nothingness.

Ian had won. Cthulhu had come, and Cthulhu had fallen.

Only the Authority Ian had seized remained, pulsing quietly inside his soul like a dormant volcano. That was the line between victory and defeat, and Ian was the victor.

As a Legendary Wizard from Hogwarts, he had wielded stolen Authority as his blade and Paradox as his shield. Guided by the hope and protective drive granted by that fairy-tale world, he had destroyed the Old One's manifestation and claimed its power.

Of course, Ian knew the threat wasn't truly over. Across other dimensions and the endless void, the true forms of even greater ancient gods likely still existed.

Just as Cthulhu had warned, this world wasn't completely safe.

'When has anything ever been absolute? The only answer is to get stronger and suppress every enemy.'

Ian understood that clearly. So what if other threats lurked? Right here, right now, Cthulhu's manifestation was gone. And the Authority he had gained would serve as both his strongest weapon and ultimate shield to protect his home and explore the unknown.

"I just hope they're like the Calabash Brothers trying to save their grandpa, coming one by one to deliver themselves as exp packs."

Ian breathed in R'lyeh's cold, silent air. The crushing weight of madness was gone. He tightened his grip on his wand, the familiar warmth of the wood reminding him where he came from and why he fought.

The road ahead might grow even more dangerous, but his mind was calm, his resolve stronger than ever.

It was time to leave and return to his world.

Ian gave his wand a gentle wave. A stable Spatial Gate opened before him, shimmering with colors like the starry ceiling of Hogwarts' Great Hall. From beyond came the faint, bustling sounds of the human world.

"With a little push, I can cross back through time itself."

Ian glanced back one last time at the ruined city where he had ended the nightmare of the Old Ones. Then he turned and stepped into the light leading back to his fairy tale, his home.

The Spatial Gate snapped shut.

'Rumble... rumble...'

With Ian gone, R'lyeh began its final collapse, vanishing completely as if it had never existed at all.

A new history began in that moment, surging forward to overwrite the ages yet to come.
