It's been a long day. Your feet ache, and your eyes feel heavy. You quickly head to your bedroom to lie down. You think it might be a good idea to at least make yourself dinner, but you're too tired to do so. You don't even bother turning on the light.
You throw your phone onto your bed, take off your shoes, and flop down onto the mattress. You nuzzle your face into the pillow and slowly begin to drift off to sleep.
Then, all of a sudden, your phone starts ringing.
You lift your face from the pillow and grab your phone from beside you. Without even paying attention to who's calling, you slowly accept the call.
"Hello?" you quietly mumble.
There's a muffled noise from the other end of the phone. You raise your eyebrows and slowly lift your phone to look at the screen. The light is so bright that it's almost blinding.
"HELLO!" the voice shouts from the other end.
Your eyes finally adjust to the light. The person calling you is your friend.
You sigh and let your phone fall back onto the bed.
"Hey... what's up?" you mumble, loud enough for them to hear.
"Are you home?" they ask.
"Yeah... I got home ten minutes ago." you answer.
"Did you read the new chapter of Tokyo Revengers?"
You groan and slowly lift yourself off the bed. You rub your eyes, grab your phone, and look up the Tokyo Revengers manga on a website because you can't afford a subscription or to buy the manga from a store.
"What happened in the last chapter?" you ask.
Your friend giggles before letting out a loud shriek.
"GIRL! THE LAST CHAPTER WAS INSANEEEE!!!"
Your friend continues giggling. You don't understand exactly what she's so excited about, considering the last few chapters have been pretty gruesome.
"Ugh... my head hurts..." you groan, rubbing your head.
"Girl... are you okay?" your friend asks.
"I'm just really tired." you reply quietly.
"You should sleep, Y/N." your friend says in a concerned voice.
"Yeah... I should sleep."
"Okay, then... I will talk to you later... When you read the chapter, let me know so we can talk about it."
You can practically picture your friend kicking her feet and giggling.
"Okay... goodnight."
The phone call ends.
You lie back down and nuzzle your face into your pillow again. You click on the newest chapter and slowly begin reading, your eyes glistening with excitement.
But that excitement doesn't last long.
"WHAT! THAT'S HOW IT ENDS? THAT'S IT?"
You sit up, staring at your phone.
"ARE YOU SERIOUS? That felt so rushed..."
You quickly open Twitter to see what people are saying. A lot of people are criticizing the manga, while others are talking about how it ended.
Then you come across a random tweet featuring fan art. It includes Tokyo Revengers characters alongside someone's OC, with the caption saying goodbye to Tokyo Revengers.
People are commenting underneath, saying that the artwork looks really cool.
But the image won't load for you.
You decide to click on it to make it larger.
The moment you do, your phone suddenly shocks you.
You flinch and throw it across the room.
"Ow!"
You sigh as you stare at your phone lying on the floor, rubbing the hand that got shocked.
You debate whether you should pick it up.
Eventually, you decide to leave it there.
You lie back down and slowly close your eyes.
As you drift into sleep, you begin to feel lighter, as if you're floating. You feel cozy and warm, your mind still lingering on the final chapter of Tokyo Revengers.
Eventually, you fall asleep.
Something feels off.
It feels like your body is floating on water, but the sensation is strangely relaxing. You can hear muffled voices somewhere in the distance, but your body won't move.
"YUKI!"
Yuki?
"WAKE UP, YUKI!"
Light shines through your eyelids.
You groan and pull the blanket over yourself, trying to block out the sunlight and the noise.
"YUKI! YUKI!!!"
You slowly open your eyes as the yelling gets louder.
"YUKI!"
There's banging outside your bedroom.
As you look around, you notice strange.
Your room...
It looks different.
"YUKIIIIIII! COME ON! COME ON! YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE US LATE!"
Are they talking to me? you ask yourself.
You slowly get off the bed and slide open the bedroom door.
You look around the room outside the bedroom. It's small. There's a kitchen to your right and a couch and TV directly in front of you.
You move toward the door on the left.
As you approach it, you hear whispering and giggling.
You open the door.
A couple of girls wearing school uniforms are standing outside the room.
"What happened?" you ask.
"What do you mean what happened?" the girl on the left chuckles.
She has short brown hair that falls a little past her jawline and soft, dark brown eyes. She's wearing pink hair clips and cutesy makeup. She's about the same height as you and a little chubby with a round face. She's really cute.
The girl on the right is a little taller than you. Her chest is bigger than her hips, and her long blonde hair falls past her shoulders. She has dark brown eyes as well.
I assume she dyed her hair, you think to yourself as you look at the blonde-haired girl.
"What are we about to be late for?" you ask.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN!?" the brown-haired girl shouts in shock.
"We are going to be late for school." the blond-haired girl replies.
You slowly nod, still confused.
"Yuki... How are you the top student in the school but are always running late... how does that even work?"
The brown-haired girl walks inside, looking confused. She heads into the kitchen and opens the refrigerator.
You stare at her as she rummages through your fridge.
"Hana... what are you doing?" the blonde-haired girl asks.
"Looking to see if Yuki-chan has any snacks... but her fridge looks depressing."
Hana groans as she slowly closes the fridge.
"No wonder you stay so skinny, Yuki... you don't even have food in your fridge."
The blonde-haired girl taps your shoulder.
You turn to look at her.
She sighs before smiling.
"Yuki... if you don't get dressed, we are going to be late."
You slowly nod and walk into the bedroom, sliding the door shut behind you.
You begin breathing heavily as you rush to search through the dresser.
What's happening? Where am I? you think to yourself.
You walk toward the closet open it.
Inside are a couple of boxes and a school uniform hanging up.
You examine the boxes. One of them has a label on it.
Property of Hanami Sato.
Who is that? you ask yourself.
You open the box and begin going through the things inside.
One of the things you find is a notebook.
As you pick it up, a picture falls out.
You pick up the photograph.
It shows a woman with black hair and black eyes. She looks very pretty. A small girl leaning against her, smiling.
Why does she look bruised...? Or is the photo just smudged or something?
You open the notebook to put the picture back inside.
As you flip the notebook to look at the back, you notice some writing.
It isn't written in English.
It's Japanese.
Surprisingly, you can understand it.
"Live a long and happy life, Yuki... I will always be here with you."
You read the words to yourself.
"Love... Mom."
The notebook is labeled with the name Yuki Sato.
Am I Yuki?
And this is Yuki's mother?
Did she pass away?
You open the notebook again and pull the picture back out.
"Yuki...?" Aimi calls from the other side of the door.
You look up at the closed door and quickly close the box.
"She's getting dressed, Aimi..." Hana says from the other side.
"What are you eating, Hana?"
"A nice... cold and yummy taiyaki..."
"Where did you get that from?"
"From the back of Yuki's fridge."
"Ugh... Hana... couldn't you have waited until we went downstairs? We both know Mrs. Sato would have given us a pastry."
You sigh as you listen to their conversation.
You place the box back into the closet and grab Yuki's uniform.
After getting dressed, you walk out of the room.
Aimi and Hana stare at you as you step out.
"You have a lot of hair..." Hana chuckles.
You reach up and touch your hair before sighing and walking toward the bathroom which is on the right side of the living room near the kitchen.
You walk into the bathroom and stare at yourself in the mirror.
You're a cute, young-looking girl.
You have round, dark-grey eyes and very long, thick black hair that reaches down to your waist. Your chest is small, as are your hips. Your waist is a little smaller, but the difference isn't very noticeable.
If you didn't have that big butt and big boobs in your past life as Y/N... you definitely don't now.
You lift your shirt slightly and notice your ribs are very visible.
Yuki looks like she doesn't eat much... you think to yourself.
Aimi and Hana walk into the bathroom.
Hana reaches over and touches your hair, lifting it slightly as she smiles at you through the mirror.
"Your hair is so thick... and pretty..."
Aimi pats your head before grabbing the brush from the counter.
"Let me do your hair, Yuki..."
Aimi leans in closer to your face and gives you a pouty expression.
You nod, and she smiles happily.
She takes the brush and begins brushing your hair.
Once she finished, she pulls it into a ponytail.
"OH DANG... WE HAVE 30 MINUTES BEFORE THE FIRST BELL!"
Hana shouts as she shoves the rest of the taiyaki into her mouth.
She grabs your hand and pulls you out of the bathroom.
You put on your shoes and grab your bag.
The three of you walk down the stairs and into the back of a bakery, where an older woman is preparing some baked goods.
"Yuki- do you feel better?" the woman asks.
You slowly nod.
She smiles.
"You look just like your mother." she says, rubbing your head.
"Mrs. Sato... is that dorayaki...?" Hana asks hopefully.
Mrs. Sato?
So she's Yuki's grandmother?
She looks rather old...
"Didn't you just eat?" Aimi asks, furrowing her eyebrows at Hana.
"Shhhhh..." Hana shushes.
She smiles at Yuki's grandmother.
Mrs. Sato smiles back and hands Hana a dorayaki.
"I saved these for the three of you... I know how much you like these, Hana."
Hana smiles and takes a bite.
You smile as Yuki's grandmother hands you one as well.
"Thank you." You say.
The three of you leave the bakery.
"Your grandma makes the best sweets... You're so lucky, Yuki. I wish I had a grandma who made me baked goods every morning..." Hana says, slowly chowing down her dorayaki.
"Mmmmm, do I loooove dorayaki... or anything with this in it!"
Hana squeezes the two pancakes together, making the sweet red bean paste puff out slightly.
"I'm surprised you aren't obese, Hana." Aimi says.
Hana squints at her.
"I don't eat that much..." she pouts, taking tiny bites of the dorayaki.
Not long later, you arrive at school.
You walk inside and head toward your homeroom class. You're in the same class as Aimi.
Hana is a year older, so her classroom is one floor above yours, which is surprising considering how much younger she acts.
"See you two at lunch." she says, waving at you and Aimi as she walks down the hall.
You and Aimi walk enter your classroom and sit at desks right next to each other.
A boy sits in front of Aimi. He's wearing a hoodie over his uniform and seems unusually wary.
"What happened to you, Eli?" Aimi asks, staring at the back his head.
The boy turns around to look at her.
"Nothing that you can solve." he replies.
His left eye is swollen and bruised, and he has a tissue stuffed into his nose.
"Are those guys bothering you again?" she asks.
"What guys?" you question.
Both Aimi and Eli look at you.
"Eli keeps getting in trouble with that stupid gang..." Aimi replies.
"Hey... don't say that so loud..." Eli whispers.
"Why?" Aimi asks.
Eli sighs and turns back around.
"I told you to visit Yuki's grandfather. He can teach you how to defend yourself. He is a master of martial arts... Right, Yuki?"
You hesitate as you look at Aimi, who is staring directly at you.
You feel completely confused about what's going on. You're still on stuck on the fact that you're apparently this Yuki person.
"What gang are you both speaking about?" you ask.
Eli turns to look at you.
"Toman..."
Toman?
THE TOMAN?
TOKYO REVENGERS TOMAN?
"Toman?" you repeat, tilting your head in confusion.
"You don't know who they are?" Aimi asks.
You hesitate before shaking your head.
"Eli has been getting himself into a lot of trouble with them..." Aimi explains, crossing her arms.
"What did you do, Eli?" you ask.
"What makes you think I'm the one causing the problems?"
You shrug.
Before you can say anything else, the teacher walks into the classroom, and everyone immediately becomes quiet.
You zone out, thinking about the name Toman.
What the hell is happening?
Why is this happening?
Who is Yuki, and why am I Yuki?
The questions continue bubbling around in your mind.
Is this a dream?
You look over at Eli, who has his head down.
I'm going to ask him more questions after class, you think to yourself.
After the first half of class, it's finally lunch.
Aimi positions her desk so that it faces yours.
Hana skips into the classroom, grabs a chair, and turns it around so she can sit facing you and Aimi.
"What happened to him?" Hana asks, pointing at Eli.
Eli looks up and furrows his eyebrows.
"Why is it when you all see me covered in bruises, you all want to act dramatic as if you don't already know?" Eli huffs, clearly irritated.
Now that you can see him better, you notice he has short black hair that curls upward at the ends.
He's skinny-looking but not extremely skinny. Probably a little below average. He also isn't particularly short. He's definitely taller than Hana and Aimi.
"Why do you keep getting yourself beaten up...?" Hana mutters.
"Because they are bigger and stronger than me..." Eli hisses.
"They are bigger and stronger than Yuki, but I bet she could still beat them up." Hana says, smiling at Eli.
Eli squints his eyes and flares his nostrils.
"That's because she was taught martial arts. As you can see... I have not been taught."
He points toward his swollen eye.
"Then ask Yuki's grandfather to teach you." Hana insists, smiling at you.
"Exactly... that's what I said." Aimi agrees with a smile.
"Too expensive..." he replies.
"Eh?" Hana raises an eyebrow and leans forward.
"Yuki's grandfather said he's willing to teach us for free since we're Yuki's friends." Aimi explains.
"Fine then. Have Yuki fight them for you." Hana says, playfully swinging her fist.
"NO! I'm not going to have a girl fight for me." Eli whines.
"You sound like you just want to be beaten up, Eli." Aimi sighs.
"THAT'S NOT IT EITHER! DAMN... I'm going to eat lunch with Ren..."
Eli huffs as he gets up and walks out of the room.
Hana sighs and takes another bite of her food.
"What a crybaby." She mumbles as she shovels food into her mouth.
You look toward the door Eli just walked through.
You furrow your eyebrows and look down, still confused about everything that's happening.
You get up and walk toward the hallway.
"Yuki... where are you going?" Aimi asks.
Hana looks at you with her cheeks puffed out, her mouth full of food.
"I- uh... I'm going to grab a drink really quick." you say, walking out of the room.
You see Eli slowly walking down the hallway in the distance.
I need to ask Eli something, you think to yourself as you slowly follow behind him.
