Reynald watched Lucian's figure disappear behind the door, then let out a long sigh. He leaned back, folding his arms across his chest, and closed his eyes.
With a leisurely stride, he stood up from his seat and walked toward the window, letting his fingers brush against the glass before resting his weight against it. He gazed out at the vast sky stretching before him; the conversation they'd had earlier had truly brought back memories of things he'd once even forgotten. His smile faded, and his eyes took on a slightly wistful look.
"Hah…" He let out a soft breath.
Long ago, he had often stood in places just like this. From the windows of the palace, he had looked out at the very same scenery—only back then, he had still been a young prince, one who had not yet come to fully understand the world.
Suddenly, his thoughts drifted back to the past. He was just a child then, and his golden eyes reflected that same view. Yet there was one great difference.
