With the situation on the battlefield now clear, the assistant immediately announced the result.

Liam and Wattson each recalled their Pokémon with their PokeBalls. Then both of them quickly threw out their final PokeBalls onto the field!

As the two PokeBalls opened, Wattson's Magneton and Liam's Elekid, Elekid, appeared on the battlefield at the same time!
"The battle continues! Magneton versus Elekid! Begin!"

"Elekid! We'll use Swift too!"

The moment the battle resumed, both sides attacked simultaneously! Numerous golden stars shot through the air like rain toward their opponents, colliding and shattering midair, scattering sparkling fragments across the battlefield.
"Magneton! Use Tri Attack!"
Seeing that Swift had achieved nothing—and with the clashing stars in the middle of the field blocking Liam's line of sight—Wattson quickly shouted a new command.
"Magneton!!"
Magneton's three spherical bodies began glowing with different colors. A triangular beam of energy rapidly formed, then shot toward Elekid!
"Elekid! Use Thunderbolt to block it!"
"Elekid!"
Just as Tri Attack broke through the curtain of Swift stars and rushed toward Elekid, Liam issued his command. Elekid immediately spun his arms rapidly, releasing a powerful surge of electricity!
Boom!
Elekid's Thunderbolt collided with Magneton's Tri Attack in midair! The two attacks struggled against each other briefly before Tri Attack exploded first. The resulting shockwave dispersed Elekid's Thunderbolt as well.
"Elekid! Rush in with Quick Attack! Then use Fire Punch!"
"Elekid!"
Seizing the opening, Liam gave another command. Elekid instantly transformed into a streak of white light, charging forward. In the blink of an eye, he reached Magneton's underside. Bending his legs, Elekid leaped upward—his right fist blazing with flames—and slammed it directly into Magneton!
Bang!
With a crisp impact, Magneton was sent flying by Elekid's Fire Punch!
"Magneton!!"
However, Magneton quickly stabilized itself in midair and let out an irritated cry, its three large eyes glaring angrily at Elekid.
"Magneton! Be careful! That Elekid is strong—don't underestimate it! Use Zap Cannon!"
Wattson had already witnessed Elekid's capabilities and dared not take him lightly. He immediately ordered Magneton to unleash a powerful Electric-type attack.
"Magneton!!"
Magneton aligned all six of its magnets toward Elekid. Electricity surged wildly as countless currents gathered before it. A crackling sphere of electric energy rapidly formed—and the next moment it shot forward with a piercing sound!
The Zap Cannon was incredibly fast.
But Liam showed no sign of panic. Only when the attack was almost upon them did he suddenly shout:
"Elekid! Use Thunder Wave! Stop it!"
"Elekid!!"
With a confident grin, Elekid unleashed a massive burst of blue-white electromagnetic waves from his entire body. In an instant, the waves formed a dense electromagnetic barrier around him, the glowing light even tinting his body blue.
Crackle—crackle!!
At that exact moment, Magneton's Zap Cannon slammed into the barrier! The electromagnetic wall immediately began to distort under the impact.
But it held.
After a series of crackling electric sounds, the powerful Zap Cannon was completely blocked!
"Send it back, Elekid!"
"Elekid!!"
The moment the Zap Cannon lost its momentum and stalled, Liam issued another command. Elekid swung his arms violently, manipulating the electromagnetic waves in front of him. The barrier warped and rebounded—and the unstable electric sphere was suddenly reflected back toward Magneton!
Magneton's eyes widened in shock.
BOOM!!
Direct hit.
Although Magneton tried to dodge as soon as it saw the attack returning, it couldn't avoid it completely. Part of its body was struck by the Zap Cannon, and with a violent explosion, Magneton fell from the air trailing smoke.
"Magneton!"
"Magneton…"
Magneton had barely endured the attack and wasn't knocked out outright. Just before hitting the ground, it managed to float again, hovering low while panting heavily.
"That move… Back then, even Raikou Unit Zero was thrown away by that strange electromagnetic wave. Seeing it again, it's still just as impressive. Haha… come back, Magneton. I concede this battle."
Wattson looked at the fading electromagnetic waves around Elekid and gave a wry smile. He recalled Magneton and declared his surrender.
Like Magnemite, Magneton wasn't known for high stamina. After taking significant damage and facing a still-energetic Elekid—who also possessed a unique technique—Wattson wisely chose to concede.

At the moment Wattson surrendered, Elekid suddenly let out a sharp cry!
A brilliant white light enveloped his entire body!

As Elekid's body rapidly grew larger within the light, the recorder device stuck on his horn fell to the ground. The white glow then burst apart—
Elekid had evolved into Electabuzz!
Raising his thick arms high, he roared loudly.
"Electabuzz!!"

After the battle ended, Liam returned to his room with the badge Wattson had awarded him.
After a "hard struggle," Liam finally managed to reattach the recorder device to Elekid's arm. Listening to the familiar recorded voice coming from it, Liam held his slightly smoking, upright hair and couldn't help smiling in satisfaction.
