I was filled with endless nostalgia while walking through the village. I saw so many things that I thought I would never see again, I wanted to stop and enjoy the moment yet there was only one destination on my mind. My feet moved with an unbending weight while my heart was pounding in my chest, It felt as if I would hyperventilate the closer I got to my goal.
I wasn't moving toward the center of the village here the village head's house was located but instead to the outskirts. The further I got you could see the distance between the houses growing further apart, More grass pathways and lush trees while less broken concrete and huddled together houses.
'Jordan…..' I muttered in my head as I remembered the young girl who made me tremble slightly.
When I was younger Jordan was my best friend. Back then she was a typical tomboy who hated doing girl things and loved playing in mud. Whenever summer came we would constantly hang out almost every single day until we were both exhausted, But there was a secret that I kept to myself out of pure embarrassment. I had a major crush on Jordan back then, The other kids might have seen her as one of the boys but for me it was different.
'I should have confessed to her…' The last time we spoke I hadn't expected to never see her again.
We gave basic good boys with the promise to see each other next summer, Yet after my parents divorce that summer never came. I let out a deep sigh and forced the nerves in my body to calm down, Although it didn't work especially as I saw a large oak tree towering a couple dozen feet in front of me.
'…..' My eyes moved to the right where a singular house stood surrounded by tall trees from every angle.
"Stop being a baby" I lightly slapped my cheeks and proceeded forward with nervousness running through my body.
The house was made out of wooden logs and gave off a wooden cabin vibe, It looked exactly the same as when I was younger only the outside seemed to have been painted recently. I was about to step up onto the porch but before I could I heard a chopping sound echoing throughout the trees, It made me pause for a second before I heard the sound again.
'….' I pulled my leg back and walked toward the side of the house where the noise grew louder and louder.
My heart was fluctuating even more as I found and walked down a cobble stone path that had lots of overgrown weeds. It didn't take long until the view of a large backyard filled my vision, Well to call it a backyard was an oversimplification since the back of the house was surrounded by tall trees and connected to the forest.
The area was pretty messy with different things thrown around. I saw a few tires covered in plants, Different types of metal lying about, A small patch where vegetables seemed to be growing, As well as an old rusty car that was more forest than it was machine. It looked like an abandoned garbage dump making me hesitate to move forward out of fear of stepping on something sharp.
Thunk!
A loud sound made my focus my gaze just to the side of the abandoned car where the grass wasn't as high. Blocks of cut wood were scattered on the ground in a circle with a cut down tree trunk in the center, And standing in front was the figure of a young woman held an axe in her hand. I felt my heart pound even more as I got a clearer view
and felt memories of the past start to invade my head. The young woman had luscious milk chocolate skin and was quite attractive but not in a natural way, She had more sharp and defined features giving her a boyish charm. With short silver that hair barely reached her ears and light blue eyes she would undoubtedly be popular with the opposite gender if she had a little more feminine charm.
'Jordan!' It had been years since I'd seen her but there was no way I would fail to recognize the tomboy.
