On the vast, empty battlefield—the Demon King had arrived!
Obito was sent flying, chased through the air at breakneck speed by the Demon King. He was moving so fast, it looked like smoke was coming out of his ass; even the Sword of Nunoboko had been smashed to pieces.
Down below, Rinjin—having driven off the monster—was in high spirits. Shielding his wife, he shot a middle finger toward Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo in the distance.
"Centuries of scheming, and you still can't get it right, huh Hagoromo baby"
Hagoromo's gaze swept over the stunned crowd, his voice righteous and grave:
"Rinjin, that inferior breed is the root of disaster for this world! I urge you to join us and help seal away this monster before it destroys everything!"
Rinjin snorted, mocking.
Now that the masks were off, he didn't need to show this old fossil any respect.
"Then go for it! Aren't you a Sage? You go seal him—hurry up, and I'll cheer you on!"
Up in the sky, a hysterical roar ripped through the air.
"Night Guy!"
A blood-red dragon roared past, barely missing Obito—making his scalp tingle with fear.
Rinjin laughed to himself.
"You'd better hurry, Sage. I've got a feeling that guy's gonna start spamming Night Guy like it's his basic attack."
"Hmph! This is your fault! Who told you to turn your body into that monster?"
"Ha! He's mad! He's actually mad!" Rinjin clapped, grinning, then his face turned ice-cold.
"Cut the crap! Just because you're a Sage doesn't mean I can't train taijutsu! Keep wasting time here if you want, but today—either you die, or this world goes down with you. Your choice!"
Hagoromo's face darkened to the extreme.
He'd lived for a millennium; he knew the secrets behind the scenes. If he let the inferior breed keep rampaging, even if the world wasn't destroyed outright, mass suffering was inevitable.
His mother, Ōtsutsuki Kaguya, came from Takamagahara. The world's destruction wouldn't bother her.
But him? Was he really going to let all his centuries of effort go up in smoke?
And worst of all—he didn't dare face the real Ōtsutsuki clan.
Thinking of this, Hagoromo suddenly snapped:
"You're just going to stand by and watch him destroy the Rain Village you built yourself? If this world goes, your friends and family go with it!"
Before he'd finished, a terrifying, violent aura erupted from Rinjin.
In the next instant, Rinjin's face twisted, and slender black tentacles slowly emerged from his pores.
"Me?!"
A roar of pure rage thundered out. Rinjin ripped open his black combat uniform, exposing a chest of shriveled, gray-black skin.
"See this?! My broken soul! My heart... has already... been fed to... that monster! Now... it's your turn!"
His hysterical roar echoed across the battlefield; for a moment, everyone felt their souls tremble.
Rinjin's eyes, burning with fury, turned to the sky.
"Rin! Get Obito out of here!"
Then Rinjin glared at Hagoromo, baring teeth wrapped in black threads, pronouncing each word:
"Today, in front of everyone, I'll expose you—this hypocritical, lingering old ghost!"
As he spoke, Rin—dressed in a green vest and fox mask—appeared behind Obito, wrapped her arms around him.
"Kamui!"
Both Mangekyō Sharingan activated at once. Rin whisked Obito away, barely dodging the monster's heavy strike.
The monster's blood-red eyes locked on Hagoromo.
After years of corruption, the monster had polluted Rinjin's soul; at the same time, Rinjin's will was always affecting the monster.
That towering hatred now focused entirely on Hagoromo.
"You can't escape. Even if you flee to the Pure Land, I'll bring him to find you! Go feed him, Sage! Bit by bit—just don't feed him too much at once.
Oh, and here's a little secret: his bottom line isn't the Origin being split, but being planted. If you try to plant him, he'll become the biggest pain in your ass!
And he hates being sealed.
Aside from those two things, maybe he wouldn't mind sharing a body with you."
Goosebumps crawled up Hagoromo's back.
He'd done both those things!
Just then, Rinjin's eyes flashed. He shouted in his heart:
"Opening!"
He caught Hagoromo's split-second distraction. Rinjin's hands, hidden in his sleeves, flew through hand seals.
"Spiritualization Technique!"
His soul shot out of his body, piercing through time and space, and appeared behind Hagoromo in an instant.
"Got you!"
Rinjin's soul lunged, grabbing desperately for Hagoromo's neck.
At the same moment, the monster—drooling black saliva—charged up to the pair.
In that split second, Hagoromo's eyes gleamed, his lips curled into a smirk, and his hands shot out toward Rinjin's soul and body. A sun and moon glowed in his palms.
"I'm the one who caught you!"
Just as Hagoromo's hands were about to touch soul and flesh—
A red glow flared from the body's belly, shining through the shirt.
"Meow!"
A soft, adorable cat cry rang out, followed by a pair of big blue eyes blazing with flame.
The cat leapt between Rinjin's body and Hagoromo's sun-marked palm.
Instantly, a powerful suction wrapped Rinjin's soul and the cat together, pulling them in front of Hagoromo.
Six Paths: Planetary Devastation!
But before gravity could yank at the earth, the monster-controlled body crashed into Hagoromo.
Those writhing tentacles—covered in twisted teeth and eyes—instantly bound the Sage of Six Paths tight.
With blinding speed, the monster opened its bloody maw and bit down on Hagoromo's neck.
Inside the mouth, a powerful suction dragged Hagoromo toward the monster's belly.
At the same time, from the black sphere containing Rinjin's soul and the cat, a slender tentacle shot out, grabbing the monster's own tentacle.
Big tentacle merged with small tentacle—darkness returns to darkness.
Gradually, as Hagoromo was swallowed into the body's belly, Rinjin and the cat were also pulled back by the tentacle to their rightful place.
Darkness returns to darkness.
On the silent battlefield, everyone stared grimly toward Rinjin.
If the monster took control... the world—
In the center, Rinjin's body stood quietly, eyes closed.
No one knew how much time passed. Just as the horizon began to glow with the first hint of dawn, the body slowly opened its eyes.
In those black-and-white pupils, the brilliant sunrise was reflected.
After a long moment, the body turned toward Tsunade. The icy expression melted away.
"Red sky at morning, sailor take warning; red sky at night, sailor's delight.
Honey, looks like rain's coming. Let's go home and bring in the laundry."
