Chapter 10 - Elf versus Bastard

"And you're positive?" asked the man speaking to Halmar, unable to remove his sights of the pendant he held in his grasp.

"I am. That's why I wish to get rid of it. With that said, let's hear your offer." Halmar pulled the pendant back into his hand, gaining the gaze of the buyer and his accomplice.

He nodded and took out a few bags "250 golden coins." he uttered, noticing his seller's gaze disapproving of the amount. "What? Don't like it? Do not forget that we allow you to keep doing your shady… business… in this town."

The elf clicked his tongue and sighed, forcing a seller's smile "Very well. This is for-?"

"None of your business. Now, are we good?" the buyer asked to which hesitantly Halmar approved of it with a nod and handed it over. "Much appreciation."

"Those buyers may look like common folk but they're High Guard." Mabble said carefully "According to my acquired information, they're looking to buy it and hand it as a gift to Royalty. Right before they come out, we'll strike." her sharp hazel eyes were set on the pendant all the way from across the street.

Axion nodded lightly "Understood. But I don't know how much I could help with one arm."

"I'll worry about all that. You just have to be sure to take the pendant. If you try to run, I will find and even kill you."

"Great."

They started walking towards the front of the store, intending to leave. Mabble fiddled in the air, barely noticeable from the sidelines, sending into the air pieces of papers with drawn marks on them, having about a dozen of them fly towards the front of the store.

"Be ready to move on my signal, we leave before backup arrives." she warned Axion and gave him the look with her eyes. He nodded.

The papers carefully and precisely flew right at the front of the store. Right as the buyer placed his hand on the doorknob, Mabble snapped her fingers and had the papers explode, exploding the front of the store.

"Let's go." she basically commanded, moving in and Axion remained close. Mabble checked and noticed that much was exploded off, seeing the High Guard sit at the back of the store, pulling themselves up.

Axion looked and saw the pendant on the floor, shining through the dust and under the debris. In the same moment he got his hands on it, Halmar front kicked him and had him sliding back out onto the street.

"You think you can steal from ME?!" he yelled "I won't let you leave without being placed into a bodybag." His words were confident, his aura surprising and his stance mesmerising.

"Listen man, I don't want to hurt you." Axion warned him but he just laughed before enveloping his fists with fire.

"Fuck." Axion uttered 'Fire element? Damn, I'm screwed.' he took a stance with his left arm and waited until Halmar struck first. He grunted and ran at Axion, who redirected his first 2 punches but was struck with a knee kick to the stomach, bending naturally forward and uppercut in the chin, sent falling onto the ground.

Halmar smirked and in a handspring, aimed a flipping axe kick right on him on the ground yet Axion rolled out of it and stood back up. The next time when the elf came running at him, he evaded 2 of his punches, blocked his kick despite feeling the pain of it and coming face-to-face with him.

The fiery punches, he could feel them even if he had dodged them. They were quite hot. Point blank, Axion did a front kick and had his elven foe sent aback barely. Halmar rushed back at the robber, dodged his sidekick and palm struck the air, sending out a flame beam that launched Axion into a building.

It hurt. Not only the attack itself but the fire beam. What's worse… He couldn't even tell which hurt more. Noticing a sheet of paper falling in front of him, it seemed irrelevant to even look at it, seeing Halmar grin "Your life ends now." he uttered, placing his palm right at Axion and out of it was a fireball fired.

Finger snap. The paper formed an ice shield, shattering it immediately yet dispersing upon connection with the shield. "Not bad, Halmar, not bad at all." Mabble taunted him, walking over with the pendant in her hand as she placed it into her pocket.

"The runt returns eh? This time with backup? My my, aren't you mischievous. Very well, it seems that I'll place you into a body bag as well." Halmar's words were not an empty threat. His flames burn hotter.

Mabble and him simply locked eyes as they both, in a burst of sudden speed, barely comprehensible to Axion yet still he was able to see them, they fought. He noticed that Halmar intended to blast her with fire or use abilities yet she didn't allow it like this is some way she could win. Alas, however, he gained an upperhand in their hand-to-hand fighting by hook kicking her in the face, making her stumble backwards.

Halmar placed his palm out and fired a beam of fire. Mabble's eyes reacted to the flames as she quickly threw out a piece of paper and initiated it.

As the flame struck the paper, the fireball vanished and a huge icicle redirected back.

The expression on Halmar's face changed. This wasn't something he had anticipated. Hands. With the usage of his hands, he created a condensed flame orb and fired it back, creating not an explosion, but steam. Enough steam to cover half the street.

When it started to fade away, he noticed that the thieves and the pendant were gone, grunting and stomping the ground "Dammit!!!" he yelled out, walking over to the High Guard and noticing they'd been beaten and knocked unconscious.

Such a sight made him aggressively run his hand through his hair and punch the wall.

Mabble and Axion were a few streets away by now.
