As Professor Hastings specialized in researching the mind, artificial intelligence also fell within his field of study. That was precisely how he had managed to redesign the latest wrist-mounted Capture Styler during Generation III and equip it with an intelligent voice navigation system.
It was far more lifelike than the voice intelligence Professor Oak had once attempted to install in the Pokédex.
"The arrival of Paldea's researchers changed the world. That much is true."
Professor Hastings continued, "But being forced to provide technical support from inside the digital world after you die, condemned to work forever without rest? No, thank you."
"In fact, I think that Professor Sada of yours seems a little..."
"Her movements occasionally look stiff, right?"
Hikaru cleared his throat.
"Professor, everything related to that is classified information belonging to the Paldea League. Sorry, but I can't tell you anything."
"Hahahaha!"
Professor Hastings burst into laughter, then tapped his cane against the floor.
"Then we won't talk about it. I was only asking out of curiosity."
"Still, the idea of having a conversation with a robot that possesses independent thoughts sounds incredibly exciting, doesn't it? Hmm, I'm only imagining it, of course."
"That fellow Zero is certainly unlucky! Doctors, police officers, and international organizations from countless regions will be hunting him next. It won't merely be to prevent him from destroying the world. They'll also want to study all his important technology."
"Then again, geniuses are often solitary people. It isn't particularly surprising that he developed such extreme ideas. I once had a friend who thought along similar lines. He became obsessed and backed himself into a corner. His name was Gordor."
"The Go-Rock Quads are his sons and daughter."
Hikaru coughed.
"So, Professor, was your decision to spare Gordor in Fiore, vouch for him, and acknowledge that he had turned over a new leaf based on your old friendship? That really isn't something the leader of an international organization should have done."
None of that was a secret.
Professor Hastings looked somewhat ashamed.
"Ahem! Yes, I do need to reflect on that decision. I merely believed it would be better if my old friend's technology could be used for the right purposes, much like how you convinced Cyrus to turn over a new leaf."
"Even though I can understand the hearts of Pokémon, I still can't see into the hearts of humans."
"Can one person ever completely understand another? Even if technology reaches its ultimate limit, perhaps we still won't know."
Professor Hastings changed the subject.
"The matter in Canalave City is finished, Chief. Do you plan to say goodbye to Professor Juniper, Professor Rowan, Professor Oak, and the others after summarizing everything?"
"I'll wait for you over there. I know this is terribly rushed, but we can't afford to delay matters in Almia any longer."
"Yes, I still need to speak with them," Hikaru replied. "However, Professor, the information about artificial beings must have inspired you as well. If everything goes smoothly, perhaps the Crystal Princes could eventually become electronic advisers."
That said, there was still a problem.
There was nothing wrong with borrowing strength from the souls of ancient kings who knew little about the modern world. However, asking them to use machines was another matter entirely.
As the Yellow Prince and Professor Hastings had said in the original story, the power of the crystals could reduce those pieces of junk machinery to scrap metal.
In other words, what would a bunch of old fossils like them know about cutting-edge technology?
Admittedly, they knew nothing about it.
They were extremely good at destroying it, though!
How hard could it be to make a machine stop working?
"More than that, I'm interested in the Rotom Pokédex," Professor Hastings said. "Perhaps we could even develop a Capture Rotom someday!"
"Oh, that?"
Hikaru glanced at the Fine Styler attached to his arm.
"We already have the beginnings of that technology!"
He was confident that Cyrus would work endless overtime in prison.
As the most technologically capable person in the Pokémon world, Cyrus was certain to produce some astounding results.
Compared with Clemont's exploding and malfunctioning inventions, or Team Rocket's cheap, uncontrollable inventions, Team Galactic's technological capabilities were unquestionably astonishing in every field.
Even when they built bombs, they were in the absolute top tier!
They would never insult anyone by using cheap materials!
Just as Hikaru prepared to bid the professors a final farewell and discuss the Almia regional Pokédex with Professor Rowan, including its survey data, potential numbering system, and evolutionary distribution...
"Someone contacted me last night," Professor Rowan said. "He wants to meet you today."
"He's nearby, and I've already informed him. Would you mind waiting a moment?"
"You visited Iron Island recently, didn't you? Dawn also went to Iron Island and..."
"She received a Riolu Egg, hatched it, and then participated in the battle at Spear Pillar."
Hikaru paused.
"Is the person you're talking about Riley, the owner of Iron Island?"
The moment Hikaru finished speaking, he sensed a strange fluctuation in the air.
It was difficult to describe.
It was Aura.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Sir Hikaru. Even from a great distance, I could sense the immense Aura radiating from you."
"Champion of Wisdom, your presence truly is extraordinary."
A slender young man with black hair appeared nearby. He wore blue clothing and a matching hat.
Riley of Iron Island was one of Sinnoh's five Stat Trainers.
He was also someone with an exceptionally deep understanding of Lucario and Aura.
He might have been a descendant of the legendary Aura Guardian Sir Aaron, or perhaps a descendant of Sir Aaron's brother.
Sinnoh's five Stat Trainers were Riley, Cheryl, Buck, Mira, and Marley.
Among their five ancestors, three had been members of the Galaxy Expedition Team in Hisui, while the remaining two had been wardens of the Diamond Clan.
Although the five normally wandered throughout Sinnoh, they could also be found at the Battleground in the Battle Zone.
Their preferred battle styles corresponded to the six Pokémon stats, with Buck representing two of them by himself.
As for how Riley knew that Hikaru had visited Iron Island...
That was only natural.
It was a basic Aura Guardian technique.
Aura Guardians could read the Aura left behind in objects and reconstruct memories of the past. They could even read Aura from machines and inanimate objects, making it useful for tracking.
As for why Ash and the Lucario from Cameran Palace couldn't do that without relying on time flowers...
Neither of them had completed their training.
"Hello, Mr. Riley."
"No, I can't use Aura," Hikaru said. "I've developed a sixth sense and a degree of synchronization through training, but those are standard abilities for any Trainer who reaches a certain level. They're still far removed from true Aura."
Riley chuckled.
"People often describe Aura as something resembling emotion or an atmosphere. In truth, it also represents the waves emitted by the mind and soul."
"One could say that Aura reflects an individual's fundamental strength. By sensing it, a person can perceive the emotions and thoughts of others."
"Please forgive my discourtesy."
Riley removed his hat as a sign of respect.
"What happened in Sinnoh yesterday shook the entire region. Team Galactic's conspiracy was crushed at Spear Pillar, and someone also witnessed the incident involving Alamos Town."
"The witness was Baron Alberto."
"Oh, Baron Lickilicky," Hikaru said. "That isn't surprising. I've heard he loves appearing on television and giving interviews."
Riley looked helpless.
"Ahem. Baron Lickilicky does indeed seem to be that kind of person, but he isn't important."
"I came here because I heard that you possess knowledge of many obscure legends. There is something I wish to investigate."
"One of my family's ancestors mysteriously disappeared. I've heard that somewhere in the world, he was remembered as a hero. However, the reason for his disappearance remains completely unknown."
"Cameran Palace..."
Hikaru suddenly remembered something.
The Hoenn League appeared to begin much earlier than the Leagues in other regions. That was likely because the Battle Frontier had its own divisions.
The timing should be about right.
"I understand. This may be a perfect opportunity to help a friend."
"A friend?" Riley asked.
"I have a Pokémon friend who lives in the place I just mentioned. More accurately, it lives within that land itself."
"There is a fairy tale there about an Aura Guardian who saved the world."
"According to the legend, the Aura Guardian sacrificed his life and joined his power with another Pokémon. Together, they connected with the Tree of Beginning and released an enormous wave of Aura that ended a war."
"Hmm. It had an ending similar to Oración. It erased the anger and hatred in the world, allowing humans and Pokémon to return to their homes."
"You look exactly like the Aura Guardian in the portrait, so you're probably his descendant."
"It isn't surprising that this part of your family history was lost. You can probably blame your ancestor Rye for that. He loved traveling far too much."
Rye had come from somewhere else and joined the Galaxy Expedition Team in Hisui, resulting in the legend being lost.
That was probably what had happened.
Riley stared at Hikaru in astonishment.
"Ending anger and hatred... I began thinking about my family's lost legend after witnessing the power of Oración."
"Speaking strictly in terms of Aura Guardians, my Aura still isn't especially powerful. That's why I decided to investigate my ancestor."
"Rye appears to have been my great-grandfather."
"Even if you're his descendant, your current Aura probably isn't strong enough to use the hero's staff," Hikaru said.
"Cameran Palace holds an annual festival. The person chosen during its battle tournament becomes the Guardian of the Aura and is allowed to raise Sir Aaron's legendary staff."
"That land lies north of Kanto."
"A battle tournament? Oh, Cameran Palace!"
Professor Oak suddenly raised a finger.
"That palace lies north of Kanto, deep within Mt. Moon. It's far from most populated areas. Although its annual festival is extremely lively, few people visit during the rest of the year."
"Simply put, it is one of the few surviving kingdoms in the modern world. Most kingdoms have become tourist attractions, but a few still adhere to the customs and laws of the past."
"Oh, Hikaru, did you know about the Fighting-type competition being held in Johto?"
"Isn't that taking place at the Pokéathlon Dome north of Goldenrod City?"
Hikaru paused.
"Don't tell me Cameran Palace is sponsoring the entire event."
"Can a kingdom of that size truly afford to organize a major international competition?"
Professor Oak cleared his throat.
"Ahem. A kingdom of that size certainly couldn't organize the whole tournament, but I never said it was doing that. It merely appears to be one of the investors."
"After all, this will be the first World Pokkén Championship. Some people are calling it the World Martial Arts Tournament."
"The strongest fighter in the world will receive the title of Hero."
"Professor Oak, are you saying the Aura Guardian Festival at Cameran Palace will be combined with the Pokkén Championship?"
"No, I never said that. The Aura Guardian Festival is Cameran Palace's own celebration. This time, they're merely using the championship to make an appearance and build publicity."
"Naturally, the two events are scheduled at different times."
"Besides, the festival isn't the important part. The important part is tourism revenue."
"It's perfectly normal for an investor to advertise itself during a tournament."
"So this is all for tourism!" Hikaru exclaimed.
In other words, Queen Ilene would personally attend and watch the championship, leaving few people behind at the palace because the festival and tournament were being held on different dates!
"Oh no. That's bad..."
The world-famous explorer Kidd Summers had entered the Aura Guardian Festival to investigate the Tree of Beginning.
Ultimately, the miniature sampling drones she dispatched caused the Tree of Beginning to suffer an allergic reaction, triggering the entire storyline of the Aura Guardian.
Never mind what might happen to Mew, the Tree, who was Hikaru's friend.
If Kidd pulled something like that, the Tree of Beginning would mistake her for a bacterium and try to kill her.
Someone would die, the Tree could go into anaphylactic shock, and Cameran Palace might be blown sky-high along with it.
The Queen would leave to watch a tournament, only to return and discover that her kingdom had been destroyed!
Hikaru didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
He glanced at Riley, who was staring into space with a thoughtful expression, and quickly warned him.
"There's something extremely dangerous over there. You shouldn't investigate it for now."
Although the story of the Aura Guardian was strongly connected to Ash, Ash wasn't the person who initiated the incident.
That role belonged to Kidd Summers.
Many people had developed an extremely negative opinion of her because Lucario's death could ultimately be traced back to her actions.
However, if one considered that Lucario's Aura crossed through time after its death, allowing it to reunite with Sir Aaron in the past and change history, then perhaps it could also be considered a happy ending.
It died in the future, revived in the past, and altered past history without affecting the future.
The Pokémon world was simply that miraculous.
"When the Pokkén Championship begins, Sir Aaron's staff might be brought there as well. You can ask the Queen for more details at that time."
"After all, I can't use Aura."
"If something goes wrong, I'll need the assistance of a genuine Aura Guardian like you. Very few people in the modern world can use Aura, right?"
"My assistance?"
Riley lowered the brim of his hat.
"I don't know what will happen, but the legend of that hero greatly concerns me."
"This journey wasn't wasted. I've learned far more than I expected."
"I understand. I'll also participate in the Pokkén Championship. When the time comes, let us test our strength against each other."
"Until then, I'll investigate my great-grandfather Rye."
"There is one more matter. It concerns a [Legendary Lucario]."
Riley continued, "According to my ancestor's records, there is a Lucario in a distant land that guards something important."
"It is also said that the city it protects may be one of the places where Aura originated."
Hikaru's eyes shifted slightly.
"A Lucario protecting a city and guarding something important?"
"I see. I think I know where that Lucario is."
"Once I meet it, I'll send you the information."
"Even after three thousand years, it continues to guard the Blue Gem inside the distant Almia Castle."
"If that is true, then it really is..."
"[When deep darkness descended upon Almia Castle, and the King's heart absorbed every negative emotion in the world, the Prince in Blue used the light he released to summon brightness back into the world.]"
"That light was [Aura]!"
Statues of Riolu and Lucario stood inside the ancient castle, where a blue wall of light blocked intruders!
"Blue... The blue-haired Prince dressed in blue, Sir Aaron in blue, Riley in blue, and the blue Lucario!"
Among all the known Aura Guardians, Rye was the only one who didn't wear blue.
Considering that Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia was created during the Diamond and Pearl era, perhaps the design of the Prince in Blue truly had been inspired by Sir Aaron!
Among the Pokémon guarding the crystals, Lucario was also the only one that wasn't a Legendary Pokémon!
It possessed something called [Aura] that existed beyond ordinary Aura!
[It launches orbs of Aura power. It becomes stronger if its Aura cloaks it.]
The wording was identical to the description of Reshiram and Zekrom reviving from their stones by [absorbing the enormous Aura surrounding them].
Even now, no one knew whether "Aura" was simply a translation issue or some more powerful form of life energy.
Perhaps the truth would only be revealed in Pokémon Legends: Unova.
However, one thing could be confirmed.
When the Guardian Lucario began charging power, brilliant blue light would appear around its body.
That light would then envelop it completely, strengthening its abilities and making even its ordinary attacks more powerful!
The Aura Sphere it released in that state would split into dozens of projectiles, sweeping across an enormous area!
Riley had performed something similar in Pokémon Adventures, but the turn-based restrictions of the main games made that absurd style of combat impossible to reproduce.
"However, the Guardian Lucario protecting the Blue Gem can begin charging without warning during battle, then rapidly fire three Aura Spheres in succession."
"That's right. Three projectiles with every ordinary attack!"
Parental Bond?
More like Grandparental Bond!
"Our first battle after arriving in Almia will be against the progenitor of Aura itself."
"Who is the true [Hero of Aura]?"
A wave of emotion emerged from the Great Ball inside the guard on Hikaru's wrist.
Lucario had heard everything.
A demonic Aura beast that had guarded a crystal for three thousand years...
Did that mean a Pokémon from three thousand years ago would automatically be stronger than one born three thousand years later?
Not necessarily!
Mind's Eye plus swordsmanship plus Foresight plus Detect equaled Ultra Instinct.
Four punches in a single second wasn't exactly weak either!
And it still had [Mega Evolution], which it had never used or practiced!
Lucario's Aura transmitted its emotions so clearly that Hikaru suddenly thought of something else.
The Lucario from Cameran Palace one thousand years ago had only been Sir Aaron's apprentice.
Because it hadn't completed its training, it couldn't grant Mew enough power by itself like Sir Aaron had. It required assistance from Ash, another half-trained Aura user.
But what if Sir Aaron had possessed [Mega Evolution] at the time?
One thousand years ago was precisely when the first Mega Evolution, Mega Rayquaza, had been discovered.
Later, someone in Kalos discovered Lucarionite!
"I feel as though something incredible is about to happen," Riley said. "I only asked a casual question. I never expected it to lead to all this."
The legends Hikaru described left Riley genuinely astonished.
Then he remembered the approaching Ferrum region, where another outrageous Lucario possessed an illegal technique called [Burst Attack: Aura Blast].
He immediately felt that his own abilities were overwhelmingly inadequate!
All he could do was read an opponent's emotions slightly ahead of time and predict their movements.
Far too weak!
The other Lucario sounded utterly...
"No, you were just thinking that all those Lucario are ridiculously powerful, weren't you?"
Hikaru sighed helplessly.
"Your Lucario isn't ordinary either. It can read an opponent's emotions and seize the initiative in battle."
Hikaru's own Lucario possessed the Ransei trait of swordsmanship, the inherited secret technique Mind's Eye, and conventional moves such as Detect and Foresight.
That allowed it to evade or block every opposing attack without taking damage, compensating for its comparatively low HP, Defense, and Special Defense.
The Lucario of the Ransei region had originally been one of the two Pokémon linked with the Warlord Ranmaru.
Ranmaru was based on Mori Ranmaru, Oda Nobunaga's attendant.
He also held a place in the competition for [Ransei's Greatest Beauty].
However, he was a man.
The concept of a link meant [maintaining a connection] and preserving the world's proper order.
The Warriors of Ransei could link with Pokémon and generate extraordinary power.
Interestingly, almost the exact same words had once been spoken by Commander Kamado.
Why would the leader of the Galaxy Expedition Team, Professor Rowan's ancestor who came from Galar, speak about links from the Ransei region?
Admittedly, he had been explaining the Red Chain, but the wording invited speculation.
Combined with his Galarian armor, which always brought to mind the Nanban armor created in imitation of European plate armor...
Another unsolved mystery had been added to the list.
As for the other competitors, this was the Pokkén Championship.
Surely every Trainer who owned a Lucario would participate.
The Lucario with swordsmanship and Mind's Eye from Ransei.
The Lucario with Aura Blast from Ferrum.
The Lucario with Mega Evolution from Kalos.
The Lucario with precognition from Sinnoh.
The Lucario with Aura barrages and enhanced Aura from Almia.
Looking at the competition from that perspective, the Lucario from Cameran Palace in Kanto, which was often considered to possess the strength of an Elite Four Pokémon, truly had been nothing more than an [apprentice]!
You're as weak as an Elite Four member!
"In that case, I'll be responsible for analyzing and collecting data on [Mood Mode]," Professor Juniper said. "After all, that feature is part of the Pokédex used in Unova."
"If we can develop it first, it will become another major achievement produced through international cooperation."
Professor Juniper decided to examine the Pokédex in Hilda's possession. It was an exceptionally valuable source of research data.
Professor Oak was also thinking about the unique system he had previously received from Leaf.
It had been developed by his counterpart from another parallel world.
Professor Oak genuinely couldn't tell whether the technology in that timeline was more advanced or less advanced than their own.
"Professor Juniper, please send my regards to Hilda and Hilbert," Hikaru said. "If you visit western Unova, then please also..."
The noisy researchers began gathering around him.
"The Terarium will begin construction soon," Director Cyrano said. "When are you and Burnet coming?"
"Director!" Briar exclaimed. "We've only completed the planning stage. Construction hasn't begun yet!"
"I need to return to my research on unusually large Shiny Pokémon and hereditary traits," Professor Elm said. "This could be a major breakthrough!"
"Listen to me!" Fennel exclaimed. "The professors gave the C-Gear extremely high praise! I'm going to be rich!"
"Deputy Director, if you find any new way to make money, you have to bring me along! The entire laboratory relies on you to feed us!"
"You're admitting you plan to live off him?" Sonia asked. "Senior Fennel, that's far too blatant."
"You should upgrade the storage system's firewall first."
"Oh, Hikaru, if I go to Alola for further training, perhaps we'll meet again. Uh... Maybe?"
"The Dimensional Research Lab is also about to become extremely busy," Professor Burnet said. "The training period won't be very long."
"Oh, Hikaru, what did Lusamine just say to you? She's been laughing strangely ever since."
"Director Cyrano, I truly don't have time to visit. You're still in the design stage, aren't you? Come back after you've collected environmental information from another hundred places."
"I'll organize the results of Gloria's investigation and the other survey requests from Galar, then send them to you," Professor Magnolia said. "I look forward to your next achievement."
"A hundred regions?!" Professor Birch exclaimed. "Wait, maybe that isn't an exaggeration. Didn't someone supposedly visit a hundred and fifty different places?"
"Haha! Those weren't regions," Samson Oak replied. "They were different [local environments]."
"According to the study of regional environments, even Sinnoh contains three or four separate [biomes]."
"Mr. Meister would be the real authority on this. You know, the man staying in the Battle Zone. Haven't you heard of him?"
"Do you mean Meister, the famous world traveler?!" Spencer Hale exclaimed.
"He's currently in the Battle Zone?! I need to ask him about written languages!"
"I've heard he can speak more than a hundred languages!"
"Yes, I'll consult him using the material from my [Unown Pokédex]!"
"Lental is also waiting..." Professor Mirror added.
"Mega Evolution!" Professor Sycamore shouted.
"Uh, I mean, my research laboratory is in Lumiose City!"
"The street and building number are... It's on the southernmost avenue, facing Vernal Avenue. You shouldn't get lost."
"Turn left or right after entering through Gate Four or Gate Five..."
"I'll accept the research assignment concerning Meltan," Professor Willow said. "Wait for my good news!"
"You seem quite talented when it comes to machinery," Dr. Krane said. "If you ever visit Orre, you absolutely must come to our laboratory."
"Thank you very much," Bill said. "The results of this conference have convinced me that I should resume researching the machine that once fused me with a Pokémon."
"The Pokémon Storage System certainly needs improvements too. Isn't that right, everyone?"
"I'm the administrator of Sinnoh's storage system," Bebe muttered. "Improving the storage system means even more overtime for me..."
"I've decided to add a [Form Change Viewer] to the Pokédex based on everything we learned here," Cedric Juniper declared. "It sounds impressive, doesn't it?"
"I can remotely upgrade your Pokédex later!"
"Island King, we'll meet again in Alola!" Professor Kukui said.
"I have a dream, and you absolutely have to hear it!"
"It's my dream of building a Pokémon League. I hope you can... No, I'll tell you once we meet again!"
"Even if I ended up becoming a speed bump, my contribution was still recognized," Blue said.
"Shopkeeper, I owe you a favor for this."
"I'd like to tell you to call me whenever you need something, but you're closer to Leaf. I doubt you'll ever need help from a second-rate Trainer like me."
"How frustrating!"
"Maybe I should take a vacation in Alola later."
"Is your Tera Orb nearly out of energy?" Professor Sada asked.
"I brought that one with me, so I'll recharge it for you first."
"Maintaining a perfect one hundred percent energy supply is essential for prolonged combat."
"Your strength as a Champion is beyond question, but you still need to remain cautious of unexpected developments."
"In any event, have a safe journey."
The researchers continued talking over one another, even discussing Mr. Meister.
Come to think of it, the famous traveler also had the classic appearance of a Hiker.
He would trade the player a special Magikarp.
What made that Magikarp special?
It was special because it came from Meister's homeland, an unknown region based on [Germany]!
Even now, no one knew where that region was located!
"Everyone, I'll see you next time!"
Hikaru said goodbye to every researcher he knew.
Then the Ranger Union's ship set sail.
It departed Sinnoh, cut through the wind and waves, and headed toward the distant Almia region.
Hikaru also changed his clothes.
He put on the red-and-white coat that represented his status as a Top Ranger!
However, the enormous backpack strapped to his back looked slightly strange.
It made Hikaru wonder whether he should really ask Celebi to travel through time and retrieve an infinite-capacity satchel from Hisui.
Admittedly, that thing had probably been the result of a failed development project.
Still, it could hold an impressive amount of equipment, couldn't it?
"I'm a Top Ranger, but I'm also a Champion-ranked Trainer."
A Champion was something resembling the world's [Counter Force]!
First, Hikaru would gather his two teammates and form a three-person squad.
Then their objectives would be the Oil Field Hideout and Almia Castle!
There was also one more matter.
Altru Inc. was holding a concert to commemorate its seventieth anniversary.
Roxie had accepted an invitation from Miss Miku and planned to attend.
Hikaru had already warned her that the event might be dangerous, but she had insisted that she was already scheduled to become a Gym Leader and therefore wasn't afraid of anything.
Even Piers no longer dared to attend, yet Roxie remained unbelievably fearless.
Still, she probably wouldn't get to see Altru Inc.'s actual anniversary.
"Before the dawn of the seventieth year!"
It was time to step onto the set of Dark Souls!
Author's Note:
There was no update yesterday because I got stuck during the transition between storylines and forgot the plot I had originally planned. Sorry about that.
There will be another update tonight, with at least one more chapter.
I'll find a way to make up the remaining chapters I owe.
The side-series content won't be very long because many readers haven't played the Pokémon Ranger games and may find it unfamiliar. Most of it will be connected to the main regions and the movies.
The Pokémon Conquest material will be saved for later, so there's no need to worry.
As for the Fighting-type tournament, it will be a comparatively lighthearted and cheerful opportunity to beat up children.
Well, they don't exactly count as children!
I still won't be writing the Kalos section for now because the Pokémon Legends: Z-A DLC hasn't been released yet.
Then again, I doubt everyone is in a hurry to watch the lion-headed cannon fire.
