A week had passed since Roman's disappearance and the world around Julie had not stopped feeling heavier.
The room was dark, but Julie's eyes were already open.
"Roman…" she whispered into the silence, fingers tightening around the bedsheet.
Her breathing came uneven, shallow, as her chest rose and fell like something inside it refused to settle.
The air felt colder than it should, brushing against her skin in a way that made her shiver faintly.
She sat up slowly, pausing for a moment as her hand pressed lightly against her chest.
"I can't… breathe right," she murmured.
Outside the window, the night stayed still.
Julie reached for her phone on the bedside table. Her fingers trembled slightly as the cold screen lit up her face.
"Pick up… please," she whispered, pressing Roman's name.
But immediately as she tap his name the call failed.
"No…" her voice broke as her grip tightened around the phone.
