"I was the one who sold you to the Scott family."
Cassandra's voice cracked as the confession finally left her lips.
For a moment, the room fell into a suffocating silence.
Tears rolled freely down her cheeks, one after another, but she made no attempt to wipe them away.
Rachel froze.
"Huh?" the single word escaped her lips weakly.
Disbelief spread across her face like a second skin as her eyes slowly moved toward Logan.
Then back to her mother.
Her mind struggled to make sense of what she had just heard.
"Sold him?"
"Yes, dear," Cassandra whispered, her voice trembling. "I was the one."
Her shoulders sank as though the weight of the secret she had carried for years had finally become too heavy to bear.
"But look at me now..." she continued, letting out a deep, remorseful breath.
Her tear-filled eyes slowly lifted toward Logan.
The man standing before her was no longer a helpless child.
He was grown now.
Standing right in front of her.
