"'Are you done yet?'" Ember's voice rose from below, every word sounding as though it had been forced through gritted teeth.
Adrian couldn't help but reply, "Take it easy, would you?"

From the viewers' perspective, all they could see was Adrian sitting on Ember's shoulders while Ember gripped the narrow window ledge with both hands, the veins on the backs of his hands bulging.
