Chapter 84 - Deal (2)

Chapter 84

Lucas watched her calm expression. The demon that had attacked him wasn't just lucky it was also because he hadn't sealed the Astral Mode spell in his eyes back then. But now, the Astral Mode spell was sealed in his right eye, and in his left eye was another spell, his strongest defense.

He wouldn't make the same mistake again. When that demon attacked, he had been a little too full of himself. He forgot that Astral Mode, even though it was a powerful technique, wasn't truly part of him.

For enemies much stronger and faster than him, they could close the distance before he could cast the spell. It was a mistake he was still regretting, even after his fight with Ezra.

Lucas sighed inwardly and thought, "Is gaining strength making me ignore the dangers around me? There are people out there who are ten times stronger than me, or even more."

Lucas nodded to himself, knowing it would only take him a microsecond to activate his spell. This idea came from understanding the Four Leaf Clover Eyes.

With these eyes, spells are completely connected to them because the spells are born from the eyes themselves.

The Avatar spell requires both eyes to be used, unless your ocular power in one eye is strong enough to use it with just one. Then there are unique spells, which are different for each person in the Clover Clan.

Only three people had awakened these eyes so far. They all had the Avatar spell, but it was different for each of them.

Lucas looked at Ashley, the Queen, who was waiting for his answer. He had been thinking for only a few seconds. Taking a deep breath, Lucas spoke slowly and calmly. "You might not believe this, but I have the power to defeat all the Kings of the Hidden Cities alone. If they all came together, I would still win, though it would be a little harder."

"Hmm, how can you prove that?" Ashley questioned, her eyes still cold, her thoughts clearly fixed in one direction.

Lucas looked around him as his mana began moving inside him quickly. Neither Ashley nor Elizabeth noticed anything until the very last moment. The mana in the air changed greatly, becoming much denser and increasing in volume around that area. Then Lucas's eyes turned into cyan, oceanic suns. They radiated with power as Lucas's figure became covered in a cyan cloak.

Before the Queen could react, and before Elizabeth could either, Lucas pulled them with his mana. They had no power to resist. In this form, his strength increased five times. He floated into the sky and disappeared with them into the distance, all happening in just a few microseconds.

Lucas was moving at 425 meters per second. He protected both of them with mana as they flew through the sky. They traveled 20 kilometers away from the city, which took Lucas about a minute to reach.

Lucas stopped before a place with a small hill. With just a movement of his hand, that hill disappeared completely. Lucas smiled as he looked at Ashley and spoke. "I would have liked to use a mountain, but the impact from that would draw too much attention."

Ashley was in shock from the amazing strength Lucas had shown. She spoke, "Oh, it doesn't matter. So what is this?"

"It's a transformation that came when I awakened my eyes. It uses a lot of mana. Any normal Silver Stage cultivator can't stay in this form for more than two minutes," Lucas explained as he floated down with them. He made sure no one was nearby, using his mana sense to check everything around them.

"What do you mean by 'normal Silver Stage'?" Elizabeth questioned. She had been quiet through everything that was happening.

"Hmm, I'm not a normal Silver Stage cultivator. The amount of mana I have is at least ten times larger. But even so, in this form, I can't use any other spell except this one and the spells connected to it," Lucas explained.

Ashley, being wise, questioned him. "Why are you telling us this and showing us this? You could have shown us something less powerful."

Lucas chuckled and spoke. "I can't think of any other way. I just want us to trust each other. And I want to show you that I am strong enough to help you and do what I said I would."

Ashley was quiet for a very long time. From what she had seen, Lucas's strength was far greater than anything in the Hidden City. But Ashley wondered why Lucas hadn't shown this level of power to others. His team didn't even know he had broken through to the Silver Stage. She hadn't noticed either, until after he rested. When he was about to wake up, the powerful spell on him disappeared because Lucas disturbed his mana flow to remove himself from the illusion. That was when she saw something.

So the question was, why was he hiding his strength? "Why are you hiding your power? Everything you want would be easy if you showed your true strength."

Lucas chuckled and looked at the Queen. "You know why," Lucas spoke as they started floating into the sky again. "The Hidden City of Sky has lost three Saints and many Moon Classes in the past year. That made them very weak. The other Hidden Cities would love to take advantage of that weakness. If I had shown my strength, they would have done everything to hide it and make sure I was fully under their control. They might attack the people I love. I have very few of them, but they would know that I wouldn't refuse whatever they wanted because they would be holding those people hostage. Another war would happen, commanded by the ones behind the Sky King. They would know that our chances of winning would be greater than last time, even with the Moon Class and Saint Class fighters, because my power is above that."

"Even so, that shouldn't scare you from showing your strength. You're smart, from what I know. You understand your enemies. Also, having been in war, you could protect the people you love somehow and still show your power," Ashley explained, still confused about why Lucas wouldn't.

"True, but no man can ever be too careful. I'm not some higher being. I'm just a kid about to turn sixteen years old. I can die, I can make mistakes, I'm not perfect and I never will be. But what scares me more than the Hidden Cities and their evil, inhuman ways of gaining power is an organization that could destroy any of them overnight. An organization with a leader who is two times stronger than me, or even more. And that man has never shown himself to the world for a reason. He also understands that he is just a man. And there are people in this world far stronger than we know," Lucas spoke, while Ashley listened quietly.
