Chapter 187 - Chapter 189 Entering the Tomb Passage

Immortality, Muggles and wizards alike, is often captivated by it, leading to countless evil deeds. Think of Elisabeth, or Voldemort, who treated his soul like sliced bread, ultimately losing all form and humanity. You'll understand how many heroes have fallen prey to this delusion. This Witch-King of the Amazon rainforest is just one of them.

As Ryan was thinking about this, more information flooded into his mind. It must be said that soul communication is a very good method. He can bypass the most troublesome language barrier.

It turned out that even after these people died, the Witch King did not let them go. He attached their souls to insects called demon-eating insects, making them guard his gate for generations to come, while constantly sucking the soul energy generated by their pain.

They had gradually lost themselves in the millennia of torture, until just now, when Ryan had restored their sanity with a spell imbued with the power of great merit. So they were willing to hand over everything they had to Ryan, on the condition that he would lead them through the magical door set by the Witch King, which they could not pass through no matter what, so that they could take revenge on him.

Ryan pondered for a moment. After all, this meant that he would have to restore the bugs to their soul state and attach themselves to his body. However, this would open his soul to them. If they had any evil intentions, Ryan would be doomed.

The three leading souls had rich social experience in their lifetime, and they saw what Ryan was worried about at a glance. So they proposed to use their own death as a witness, and they vowed not to harm Ryan in the process.

Soon they swore an oath, and Ryan felt that the level of this oath was very high, even higher than the Unbreakable Oath. In this case, Ryan also put his mind at ease and opened his sea of consciousness to receive these souls.

Hermione looked at Ryan anxiously as he sat there motionless. If she hadn't seen Ryan's chest slowly rising and falling, she would have thought something had happened to him.

Suddenly Ryan stood up, stepped out of the cloth on the ground and walked towards the crystal arch bridge at the edge of the platform. Hermione subconsciously wanted to grab Ryan, but unfortunately she was half a beat too late, and could only watch Ryan walk out of the protection of the platform and step onto the arch bridge.

"No!" The next scene made Hermione scream, because she saw a little ominous blue fluorescence begin to light up in the black mist above the blood pool, and then the whole black mist rushed into Ryan's body. At the same time, a large amount of black mist was continuously produced in the blood pool and flew towards Ryan.

Just as she was about to rush onto the bridge, she was suddenly restrained by the light emitted by the white cloth blocking the intersection. She could only watch as group after group of black mist poured into Ryan's body.

Finally, all the black mist poured into Ryan's body. After being stiff for a while, he finally regained the ability to move. He turned his hands and feet and turned around.

After seeing Hermione pinned to the white cloth by magic, Ryan waved his hand to dispel the magic. At that time, he was worried that Hermione would rush over in excitement, so he made preparations in advance, and in the end, things turned out as he expected.

As soon as the restraints were released, Hermione immediately rushed over and hugged Ryan, then immediately let go, took a step back and asked, "Are you okay now?"

"It's okay. I've just negotiated with the souls in the black fog and made a simple deal that is beneficial to both parties. Now we can cross the bridge." After saying that, Ryan put away the white cloth and he and Hermione crossed the crystal bridge, surrounded by five mummies.

As expected, when they crossed the Crystal Bridge, the black fog no longer harassed them. Hermione saw this and obediently didn't ask what had happened.

When they reached the platform opposite the blood pool, the golden door appeared before them. With the help of the souls in their minds,

Ryan recognized that the patterns on the gate were actually their characters. And all the characters engraved on this golden gate were just records of the Witch King's honorific title.

"What a grand occasion." Ryan exclaimed as he read the words on the door according to the instructions of the souls. When the last syllable fell, the golden door opened inward, revealing a slanting upward passage made of small square stones.

As usual, Ryan commanded a mummy to explore the way. As soon as the mummy stepped into the passage, he was completely destroyed by an unknown force. He didn't even know where this power that destroyed the mummy came from.

"This must be the space of life that the Witch King set up back then." A soul's voice sounded in Ryan's mind. It was the soul of the old man who had just been chosen to represent.

"Although I don't understand magic, I participated in the construction of this pyramid temple as a scholar. I was among the last group of people to be killed because of a very small mistake. Now I think the Witch King must have killed people to keep it secret." The soul gave a wry laugh and continued.

"But before I was killed, I saw the blueprints of this temple. Behind that golden gate is called the Space of the Living, where no undead creatures are allowed to enter. I guess the magic on the golden gate prevented us from entering then, perhaps because they worried that after being tortured, we would choose to enter the golden gate and gain eternal silence. That way, there would be no one to guard the Witch King's blood pool."

It seems that these mummies cannot be taken away, because after entering the pyramid, the All Worlds Grocery Store has determined that it is in a state of combat, so Ryan has no way to stuff it into the All Worlds Grocery Store.

After killing the mummies one by one with a knife, Ryan and his companions stepped into the tomb passage. Only then did Ryan discover that the entire door was made of gold, the first metal that humans could use, and the tomb owner's tyranny was undoubtedly revealed.

The entire tomb passage glowed with a faint white light, a stark contrast to the darkness and silence of the previous passage. It seemed that the owner of this tomb truly believed in eternal life, and so the entrance to the tomb was completely decorated to resemble the world of the living.

Naturally, there were no traps along this section of the tomb passage. Perhaps the tomb owner felt that the blood pool and demon-devouring worms were sufficient to eliminate all uninvited visitors, and that such a large-scale tomb owner didn't have the resources to install a second, similar defense. Furthermore, for those who could get past the first defense, installing a subsequent, inferior one would be a waste of effort.

On the other hand, he may feel that he is an immortal and the tomb is his home. Normal people will only set traps outside their homes, and few people will set them in the living room.

After making sure there were no traps here, Ryan and Hermione sat down in the middle of the tomb and began to rest. By the way, Ryan took out a bottle of water from his bag and handed it to Hermione. After all, they had been walking here for more than an hour, so it was very necessary to have a good rest before facing the next challenge.
