The feeling of healing is slow and intense
The pain leaves one day after another
It can be excruciatingly painful on some days
And exhausting on other's
Sometimes it can even hold substantial amounts of both joy and sorrow
Giving you the tiniest bit of hope for a happier tomorrow
Though that's true there's something you missed
It's also painfully numb
All your emotions pause when your brain is in a fog
Brings back loss of words and throat cloggs
Then you're back to gasping for air and pleading to death
Just wishing that moment was your last breath
But you'll still breathe after that and be grateful I guess
Going on for a couple more days before you have to repress
Then compress the urge to pick up the blade again and feel the sting
The sting that brings some sort of peace that tears you to pieces
But in the end it's all healing
Be it numb or sad or terrible feelings
The destination is happiness no matter the road
Be it bumpy or not it's reducing the load
That one day we'd be able to smile without scars
And love limitlessly with hearts that aren't bound by metal bars
