The next night, Sam was busy sorting out matters with the crew members about editing the recent commercial. It was going to be Lucky Clover's accidental debut. Sam did not have high hopes, but he knew the weight of the publicity this advertisement was going to have on not just the sales of the biscuits but also Lucky Clover's future. Also, he did not have to worry much since Sebastian's schedule for the week was more or less set when he walked into their room to find Jade had fallen asleep in bed, with her natal care book fallen off by her side.
That was where he realised he had been too hard at work since Violet was still hospitalised. Though she was to be discharged the next day, she was going to stay with Sebastian's mother. He was relieved for a bit because he was not getting by well with looking after his pregnant fiancée. A part of him felt guilty knowing she was waiting for him, while a part of him was delighted to have a wife and soon a child waiting for him after a tiring, hectic day.
The sight reminded him that it was way overdue. He had to inform his father, and there were no excuses as he climbed up the bed to tuck her into the blanket before rubbing her small baby bump. She stirred awake, smiling at the sight of him stealing a kiss from her.
"Sorry… Woke you up…" Sam whispered as she snuggled deeper into his arms.
"It's fine. We were waiting for you." She smiled while rubbing her belly as he gently caressed her cheeks, admiring the beauty of her pregnancy glow.
"I'm going to speak to Dad. We should register our marriage." He said nervously as her smile grew wider.
"It doesn't matter to me as long as I'm by your side." She affirmed him, which still left him doubtful of how easily Jade was satisfied.
"But it matters to me. This little one is growing. People will know, and they talk. I should at least give you that legal status. You sacrifice your career for me. That's the very least I could repay you and this little one." Sam explained while gently rubbing her bump.
"But you're so busy. Plus, the little princess' accident… I think we can wait." She insisted as he sighed in frustration.
"At least let me inform Dad. He would be happy, though probably less pissed off with the princess." Sam coaxed as Jade giggled.
"You mean worried about her too…" Jade corrected as Sam nodded and hugged her closer.
"I'm more worried you cannot handle Dad. You know how harsh he can be." Sam frowned worriedly as Jade held his hands in hers.
"We have each other. I'm sure we will be fine." Jade shrugged nonchalantly as he kissed her passionately, embracing the fact that he was lucky to have a second chance with her. He was about to move on more intimately when he remembered their baby.
"Is it safe?" He pulled away from their kiss to check, as she grinned and nodded. "Just be gentler. The doctor said it's fine." She reassured him as they continued their passionate night.
Meanwhile, stirring in an unfamiliar hospital bed, disrupted by occasional wakes from her nightmares, Violet gave up sleeping. It was a rare occasion when she watched the sky outside the window in the stillness of the night, reminiscing about all that had occurred. It felt like it was only yesterday she was gaining the courage to walk away from Dexter's toxic family and thought she would embark on her travel blog project for fun. Who knew she found new love so soon.
She sighed, doubting the on-and-off relationship with Sebastian was lasting, as she knew love was not everything, especially since they both had failed marriages previously. There were times she understood their relationship was as though a passing fling or even a temporary replacement to move on, but after the near life-and-death experience of the past few days, she began to believe it was a relationship worth investing in. It was going to be difficult, but she was a person who was willing to go all out for someone she loves regardless of the consequences, as long as the one she loved is safe and happy.
She wondered what Pei Li would say if she was around. She smiled, remembering she had a new friend, Penny. Though a little cold and serious, she was great at cooking; the total opposite of Pei Li.
She sighed and sank her face into her pillow, too tired from all the thinking, trying to sleep.
As for Sebastian, the filming scenes were stricter nowadays after the dangerous event. Chao Tung was lying low, with Fang Li doing only the bare minimum for Sebastian on site. As for the advertisement scored by Sze Min, Chew Long had to let loose of Sebastian's extra work. That gave Sebastian the chance to sneak to the hospital, even if it was merely for three hours to check on Violet.
He stepped in quietly, but Violet could sense someone had just entered. Thinking it was probably just the nurse coming to do her routine check, Violet ignored it and tried to fall back to sleep. However, as she waited for the nurse to check on her drip and blood pressure, she felt the drip piercing her arm move, which she hated, but nothing came. Instead, she heard a heavy sigh of a male voice.
A part of her was worried it was TP or someone who wanted to harm her. She was prepared to fight him as she plotted in her mind how she would sit up and unplug her drip needle to fight the person. She counted to five; only then did she abruptly turn to her left, where the voice was heard earlier, and forced herself to jump into action amidst enduring her excruciating back pain, but before she could pull out her drip needle, she was startled to find it was Sebastian.
"Vi! It's me!" Sebastian exclaimed as she instantly winced hard, collapsing back into bed as he helped her to lie back on her stomach.
"What were you thinking, acting like that? Your back is still injured! Have you forgotten?" Sebastian nagged as Violet struggled to answer him in pain.
"Let me get the doctor for you…" Before he could, she grabbed one of his hands to stop him.
"You're in so much pain… We need to check if you're truly fine." He said as she shook her head, insisting that he stay as she tightened her grip on his hand.
"Why are you here again? Didn't I say to rest? You have a very… strict schedule…" She managed to say while still enduring her pain.
"Cause I miss you…" He innocently admitted, and she turned to meet his gaze delicately before moving in bed to make space for him to climb in.
"Why aren't you asleep? What made you jump like that?" He asked when he climbed in to accompany her.
"I thought it was TP or someone who wanted to injure me cause I suppose I sort of blocked a major accident, didn't I?" She pointed out, which reddened Sebastian's eyes.
"Stop, don't cry again… I'm fine. We all are. It's better to be safe than sorry. Besides, I'm discharged tomorrow." She reminded him as he stole a kiss from her.
"I know. Mum will look after you well. You can sleep well in my room." He comforted her as she shook her head and heard him making a 'tsk' sound.
"Can you be obedient for once?" He frowned as she grinned. "Just let me stay in the guest room, alright?" She demanded as he sighed in defeat.
"Fine. Whatever, as long as you're safe and recovering." She giggled in his arms as he shared a loving, slow kiss.
"But I will still accompany you to sleep every night." He whispered when she was about to drowsily fall asleep, too groggy to argue with him as he grinned to sleep triumphantly.
In the comforting nights for these couples, someone was lurking with bigger plans. TP had been lying low and beating himself up for the failed attempt to at least injure Wayne. He wanted to see the desperation in Pei Li's face when Wayne was injured again. He wanted this time for her to finally come running to him like he was her last lifeline.
So, his next plan must succeed, but little did he expect someone else was interested in tapping into the plan too. Pei Li's father, Wu Chang Lin. TP knew he was unreliable, as all he wanted was just money, but TP wanted him to work for the money this time.
Lucky for him, his identity was still not exposed in the prop team's list as the village boy, Lin Tao, whose identity he was using in disguise, was smart. It was definitely money well spent, as he smartly created an alibi during TP's act. That way, no one would be able to suspect it was Lin Tao, even by tightening the security, as TP only acts when they are outdoors.
Their next outdoor filming would be their last, and it was scheduled in a week and a half. Just enough time for him to prepare the old man to lure Pei Li to him after he carried out his plan on Wayne. Meanwhile, he dared not even visit the nursing home to sneak a peek at Pei Li, who would usually spend time with her mother when Wayne was in the studio filming. He was worried about being followed by the old man, whom he did not trust at all, other than doing a simple task for him on the actual day.
