Elendil: "Hey! S-stop bothering the woman! Leave her alone!"
The three men turned toward him in confusion.
Man: "Huh? And who are you supposed to be? Her husband?"
Elendil: "What?"
He blinked in confusion.
Man 2: "Tsk. He's probably one of those kids who ruin all the fun. Hey, why don't you leave before things turn bad for you, kid?"
Elendil: "Hmph.. I don't care! Just leave the woman alone!"
Man 2: "Tsk, this brat. Get him."
Elendil: "Huh? What do you mea—"
The men began walking toward him with smirks on their faces.
-------------------------------------
Angel walked through the crowded streets, searching for Elendil. He was slowly growing impatient.
Angel: "Elendil... ugh. Where did he even go?"
Angel sighed.
Angel: "That kid never gives me a break, I swear."
-------------------------------------
The two men harshly shoved Elendil against the wall.
Elendil: "Ack! Ugh... S-stop it!"
One of the men grabbed his collar tightly.
Man: "Should've thought about the consequences before trying to save someone, huh? How old are you, boy?"
Elendil: "Ugh, let go!"
He struggled, trying to push the man away.
The two men scoffed while the third kept watch over the woman to make sure she wouldn't escape.
Man: "Tsk. Shut up."
The man raised his hand—
Suddenly—
Smack!
Angel kicked the man straight in the head before he could hit Elendil.
Leading the man to flew and hitted a wal. Then he coughed up blood.
Elendil's eyes widened as he looked up.
Elendil: "Angel?!"
The two men froze in shock.
Even the woman stared in horror.
Angel scoffed.
Angel: "You're always getting yourself into bad situations, huh?"
One of the men growled and lunged forward to punch Angel.
Angel effortlessly dodged the attack before grabbing the man by the face and slamming his head into the wall so hard the entire alley seemed to shake.
The woman gasped loudly.
Angel released the unconscious man and slowly turned toward the last one standing beside the woman.
Man 2: "W-what the...?"
His eyes widened in fear.
Angel glared at him coldly.
Angel: "Don't you dare snitch. Leave before I decide to hurt you too."
The man quickly nodded in panic. He grabbed his injured friend and ran away, leaving the unconscious one behind.
Angel sighed in relief before helping Elendil stand up.
Angel: "Seriously... How do you survive without me?"
He stared at him intensely.
Elendil: "U-Uhm…"
Still shaken, Elendil carefully walked over to the woman and helped her up.
Elendil: "Are you okay?"
Woman: "I-I'm okay... Thank you."
She bowed repeatedly.
Elendil: "No need to bow... Uhm..."
Elendil picked up her basket and handed it back to her.
Angel silently watched their interaction from behind.
Elendil: "Uhm... Sorry."
Woman: "N-no! It's fine. You don't need to apologize. I should be the one apologizing... I dragged you into this situation."
Angel scoffed and looked away.
Angel: "Let's leave before someone sees us standing in this suspicious alley."
Elendil glanced at Angel before nodding slowly. He helped the woman walk out of the alley.
Angel sighed deeply.
Angel: "You should be more careful next time, Elendil. I told you already not to do reckless things before they get worse."
Elendil: "Sorry, Angel—"
Suddenly—
Man 2: "I-it was them! They hurt my friends!"
He pointed shakily at Elendil and Angel.
Angel clicked his tongue.
Angel: "Tsk. Stupid idiot."
The two officers stared at Elendil and Angel before raising their weapons.
Officer: "Do you two have a guardian?"
Elendil: "U-uhm... Yes! Please don't arrest us! We didn't start it, we swear!"
Angel stood quietly beside Elendil.
The officer sighed.
Officer: "You're both coming with us to the station."
Elendil whimpered softly and lowered his head in defeat.
Officer: "Bring the other two men as well."
The second officer nodded.
-------------------------------------
(((AT THE POLICE STATION)))
Neptur rushed inside the station, breathing heavily as he spotted Angel and Elendil sitting in front of the desk.
Neptur: "Haa—! Elendil! Angel! W-what happened?!"
He looked completely confused.
Officer: "You must be their guardian—...huh?" Paused
The officer glanced between Neptur, Angel, and Elendil in confusion. None of them looked alike.
Angel: "He's not our real father. He adopted us."
Officer: "I see..."
The officer sighed.
Officer: "Please take a seat, sir. We need to discuss something important."
Neptur slowly nodded and sat down.
Officer: "Apparently, your... Uhh... Children were involved in a violent incident. Two men were attacked by this white-haired guy over here."
He pointed toward Angel.
Neptur's eyes widened immediately as he turned to glare at Angel.
Angel: "It wasn't my fault."
He muttered while avoiding eye contact.
Officer: "Uh-huh. One of the men was sent to the hospital. His face was severely injured, almost like it had been crushed by a machine."
The officer flipped through some papers.
Officer: "The other one needed surgery. His backbone and skull were badly damaged."
Neptur listened nervously before rubbing his temples in disappointment.
Officer: "However, the woman involved explained everything. She stated that she was being harassed by those three men earlier, and these two stepped in to help her."
The officer sighed.
Officer: "So they're free to go... but you—"
He pointed at Angel again.
Officer: "You'll be receiving a warning for excessive violence and nearly killing two people."
Angel: "...Mhm. Tsk."
Officer: "Don't give me that attitude unless you want to stay here longer."
The officer then looked toward Neptur, who still looked mentally exhausted from processing everything.
Officer: "That's all we needed to discuss. Next time, teach your children some manners and how to control themselves. You may leave."
Neptur sighed deeply before standing up.
Angel and Elendil quietly followed him outside.
-------------------------------------
Outside the station, Neptur suddenly stopped walking.
He turned around with a deeply disappointed expression.
Neptur: "Didn't I tell you two not to do anything reckless?! Now look at what happened!"
He sighed heavily.
Neptur: "This was supposed to be a peaceful morning before your uncle arrived. Now what's he going to think when he sees you two causing trouble?"
Elendil: "Sorry.. "
Neptur: "Sorry isn't enough to make you learn consequences. And Angel—control yourself. You can't go around hurting people like that!"
Angel: "I wasn't even using magic..."
Neptur: "Still! Hays... aye, aye, aye."
Suddenly, the woman from earlier approached them.
Woman: "Sorry for disturbing you, but... Thank you again for saving me earlier. If you hadn't come, things could've gotten much worse."
Elendil: "U-Uhm... it's okay."
The woman nodded before at Neptur and quietly leaving.
Neptur looked at the two of them.
Neptur: "So that's the woman you saved?"
Elendil: "Yes..."
He avoided eye contact.
Neptur sighed once more.
Neptur: "I see. Let's go. Your uncle will arrive soon."
He shook his head.
Neptur: "Honestly, you two never change. You're already adults, so how are you both still this immature?"
Angel: "I'm not immature—"
He glared.
Neptur: "Shush. Let's go. You two can face your consequences once we get home."
The two groaned loudly.
