Next day as Jeet reached his office he received an important call. It was from Mr. Gandhi. A video call.
" Excellent Oberoi. I expected this from you and you didn't let me down ", he praised.
" I did my duty sir. Deepak is safe. The campaign got a positive start. And he is back in capital in one piece", said Jeet.
" And the assasin is dead whatever the means it took", said Mr. Gandhi.
Jeet shrugged.
" She was of no use to us. We had our man safe. The informant provided the name of the culprits. We nabbed them both sir. Got them under big accusations. They are going to get ten years minimum. Guru will ensure it", he said.
"Hmm", said Mr. Gandhi. " Remember you just tackled one of his enemy. The fellow has many. I would have rather preferred his foolish brother as my boss". He sighed.
The message was subtle but succinct.
Bigger threats were yet to arrive. Be prepared.
" You order me sir. I am a military man. I know how to follow an order", said Jeet.
" I appreciate Oberoi. Well done and be cautious ", said Mr. Gandhi.
" Sir", Jeet saluted.
" Over and out".
Guru entred at that very moment.
" Yes Guru", said Jeet.
" Dhule is a small village in Konkan bordering Goa. Zeenat belongs to that village. It's a small village. I have my men there. Let's hope".
Jeet nodded.
" One more thing. Look at this diary", he said. " I stumbled upon it while clearing old books.
Jeet took a look. It was a simple office diary. Most officers and ministets carried it to maintain their schedule or to keep important numbers. It was issued from the office. There was nothing special about it. Except...
" It's his handwriting ", he recognised Sumeet's writing.
" Exactly but nothing makes sense of what he has written", said Guru.
On it few numbers were scribbled. Then there were names of a few books and again numbers. There were two names in diary.
Bhishma and Punit. And again numbers. Then there was a name both Jeet and Guru recognised Falcon. It was followed by a number. Jeet looked at it deeply.
On next page was a name Mangal Bhawan. It was followed by a number too.
" This here is a phone number", provided Guru. " I tried it. It's switched off. Probably out of order".
" Hmm", said Jeet. " Get details from the company. I am going to meet my father in the hospital. He probably can help . And Guru get Eagle. We want details on Falcon. Damn it what did he find"?
" Could this be the reason", asked Guru.
" We need to find out", replied Jeet. " Get the vehicle ".
" Sir", he said and left.
Jeet stared at the diary. He murmured,
" What the f*ck did you find you moron? Why didn't you come to me"?
An hour later
Jeet opened his father's room and was pleasantly surprised.
" Rash love", he said.
" Hey", she hugged him.
" My daughter always comes here to ask about my health but this fellow here is too busy", complained Dev.
" I am sorry. You know I was worried about that fool who has no care about his life and pregnant wife", said Jeet with irritation.
" Yes daddy and the danger was real. Thank God the witch got caught and is finally dead", said Rash.
Guru came in next and they talked about elections and government policies for some time.
Guru then nudged Rash.
" Rash a second", he said.
Rash knew Jeet wished to talk to his father.
" Daddy I will head out to meet Shaun and bring him", she said.
" Sure beta", replied Dev.
Everyone even the nurses left and security waited outside as Jeet closed the room.
" Okay you wish to talk to me. Shoot", said Dev sensing Jeet's mood.
Jeet gave him the diary.
" Sumeet", said Dev as he immediately recognised the handwriting.
Tears came out from his eyes. Jeet comforted him.
" Are you fine"?
" I am", said Dev. He started reading the diary. Jeet sat quietly.
" What is this"? Dev was confused.
" I don't have any idea. I thought maybe he told you something ", replied Jeet.
" He told me he wished to discuss something important before all this happened", said Dev. His voice turned heavy.
" Don't over work yourself over it", Jeet got concerned.
Dev waved a hand.
" Let me take a second look", he said. Jeet acquesized.
Dev read for a few minutes.
" Bhishma I have heard that name".He thought for some time before it clicked,
" Bhimrao Savarkar. Bhishma. Worked as Adhi's bodyguard for an year around. He disappeared."
" Disappeared", Jeet raised a brow.
" Disappeared around Malti's death. Punit is his son. He has a sister Kavita. They came to ask about him to Adhi. Sumeet told me this."
" Okay we have one puzzle solved thanks", said Jeet.
" Punit works in VIP security ", provided Dev.
" What is this about"?
" He got something about my world or his or both. Before he could inform anyone the enemy got him", replied Jeet sadly.
" So our work is not over.
" No dad it has just begun".
Dev nodded.
" Least to say we won't discuss it with anyone else", said Jeet.
" Hmm I am concerned about Rash", said Dev.
" Rash", Jeet raised a brow.
" This got Sumeet killed. You are in danger and so is Rash. And even Chanchal. And this right here" Dev coughed hard...
" Don't get too worked up" Jeet held his father. He offered water
" I am fine", he said after a few sips. " This is a bigger threat than that assasin".
" I agree with you. It affects Deepak too. Mr. Gandhi is concerned ", said Jeet.
" A shrewd man and an honest one", said Dev.
" If you remember anything else let me know but don't overwork ", said Jeet
Dev nodded.
Jeet pinged Guru.
After five minutes Rash entred with Guru and Shaun.
" Good morning sir", said Shaun. " How are you feeling "?
" I am still alive", sulked Dev.
" Daddy please", urged Rash.
Dev calmed down.
They had a chat about his morning routines and medicines. Then more about Deepak.
Rash finally got up.
" I have some work to do", she said.
Jeet clenched his fist. Calmly he said,
" Qureshi accompanies you. He will be here in five minutes ".
" Did he snitch", she got defensive.
" Your father called", he replied with a calm he wasn't feeling.
His father-in-law had called in the morning and told him she was going to a shady area to enquire about some mafia.
" I can take care of myself. I don't need a babysitter ", she hissed.
" Try me", he hissed back. " Either Qureshi accompanies you or I put you under house arrest".
" You Neanderthal chauvinist pig", she sneered.
" My dear wife", Jeet smiled dangerously.
" You know me. Calling names won't help you. Biigger threats exist there and I don't risk your life".
" But"..
At that moment Zeeshu entred.
" Good morning ", he wished everyone.
" I am going to kill you all", said Rash. She stomped her feet.
" Ohh we feel murderous this morning ", teased Zeeshu.
" And you are the guinea pig", smiled Shaun.
" Whenever I am not", he smiled.
" You are not to leave her side for even a second ", ordered Jeet.
" Yes sir", he saluted.
" Keep away when I pee", she said deliberately.
Jeet raised a brow. She glared.
" Not even then", he whispered to his friend. " You know how wicked she is".
" I heard that", she said.
Everyone laughed.
" Tick tock puppet bodyguard. I don't have all day. Say your greetings and be at parking in five minutes ", she ordered.
" Take care Rash", said Jeet.
" Go to hell", she said and left.
" Love you too", he called back.
They saw her flipping him off. Everyone laughed again. Zeeshu saluted and left.
" I take my leave too", Jeet said to Dev. "Take care".
And this begun a new search...
