Adam didn't trust Mittelt—that much was obvious. But he wouldn't endanger Asia's life by leaving her with the fallen angel unless he was absolutely certain he could control her.

Mittelt feared him. She had seen with her own eyes what he was capable of—things Raynare could never hope to do.

She wouldn't dare betray him. Even if Raynare managed to take Asia's power for herself, Adam would still hunt each of them down.

And Mittelt… Mittelt wouldn't survive that. Unlike Raynare.

Still, as the sun began to rise over the horizon, Adam didn't forget to make that fact clear once more.

"..."

The sound of running water echoed through the kitchen. Standing in front of the sink, a tense Mittelt washed dishes under Adam's careful gaze.

It was the weekend, and he hadn't forgotten his promise to Saki. He wouldn't cancel the outing, knowing it would devastate her.

So, he spent the entire morning teaching Mittelt how to handle household chores. It irritated him how clueless the fallen angel was about such tasks, though it didn't surprise him.

Angels didn't need to eat—or even bathe. It made sense they wouldn't know how to sweep a floor.

Still, that knowledge did little to comfort Adam.

After all, this girl—thanks to his mercy—was now responsible for these chores in exchange for her life. And it was annoying how useless a maid could be at maid work.

"Hey."

Adam called out, and at the sound of his voice, Mittelt's back snapped upright, a nervous smile forming on her lips as she turned to face him.

"Yes, sir?" The fear in her tone was unmistakable. It was as if she believed one wrong move would cost her life...

Good.

"The ritual," he said, raising an eyebrow. "It's happening tonight, isn't it?"

Once the confusion cleared, her eyes widened as realization struck her. She swallowed hard and slowly nodded. "That's right… Raynare said we should bring the girl tonight."

She chose her words carefully, deliberately making it clear she had no intention of doing so.

"Alright." Adam nodded, rubbing the back of his neck with a thoughtful look.

It didn't take long for a malicious smile to creep onto his face, a dangerous gleam flashing in his eyes that made sweat drip from Mittelt's forehead.

"I have a plan."

. . .

At her house, Saki found herself staring at her reflection in the bedroom mirror for several seconds. At some point, the silence became uncomfortable as she continued to gaze at herself.

Her eyes moved to her face, taking in the dark circles under her eyes from countless sleepless nights. Then to her body, where the two small mounds on her chest barely stood out in the clothes she usually wore.

To Saki, she wasn't attractive in the slightest—but even so… Adam had called her "cute."

He saw something in her that she herself could not.

And that… made her happy.

For the first time in her life, someone had complimented her like that—noticed her.

And because of that, she truly wanted to change.

Adam was coming to pick her up this weekend, so she decided he would see her looking the best she ever had.

So she went to her mother and made a request that shocked her deeply.

"Mom, could you teach me how to put on makeup?"

And that's how, hours later, sitting in front of her mirror once more, she looked at herself.

And for the first time, she saw what Adam had seen in her.

Her beauty.

.

Stopping in front of Saki's house, Adam studied the exterior for a moment. A simple house, just as he had noticed before.

With his enhanced hearing, he picked up the sounds of a man and woman speaking—something about overdue bills.

So that was the father—an incompetent man. But Adam refrained from judging him too quickly, taking his metaknowledge into account. This was real life; not everything had to follow the logic of fiction.

Still, if Adam detected even a hint of a lecherous gaze, he wouldn't ignore it.

He couldn't be by Saki's side all the time, so to avoid the original story's outcome, he would "rehabilitate" the man.

To make sure he never looked at his own daughter with lustful eyes.

Adam could be cruel when he wanted to be—but above all else, he was fair to those of his blood. And in his eyes, this was an appropriate punishment for someone like Saki's father.

It might sound like favoritism—and it was.

Adam wouldn't lie and say he didn't have favorites. For those with kind hearts, he always gave priority.

Ding dong.

The doorbell rang, and in the small living room, Saki's mother Hana lifted her head with curiosity and mild confusion.

Understandable—she didn't recall ordering anything, and they rarely had visitors.

So she waited. And when the bell wasn't rung again, her confusion deepened. Maybe just some kids playing around? Hana wasn't sure.

But something in her gut told her otherwise.

She got up, walked to the front door, touched the doorknob—then paused a moment.

Before finally opening it.

"Good morning, ma'am."

And Hana, stunned by the unfamiliar yet angelic face in front of her, froze completely, her mind struggling to process the image of this beautiful young man.

"My name is Adam. I'm a friend of your daughter's."

The words reached her ears, but she didn't react—just kept staring at his face with a blank expression.

"You must be her mother, right? Yoshida never mentioned she had such a beautiful mom."

Those words hit her like Cupid's arrows. As a married woman stuck with a mediocre man, she had to hold herself back from jumping on this gorgeous young man right then and there.

"I'm here to take Yoshida out."

Fortunately, those last words snapped her out of her daze. Her eyes blinked rapidly as she regained control.

"O-Oh, right!" She stepped aside to let him in, rubbing the back of her neck in embarrassment. "Saki never told me she was dating such a handsome guy."

"We're not dating," Adam quickly corrected. "We're just friends."

Hana blinked, a small smile playing on her lips. "Oh, right, right."

She hoped that wouldn't be the case for long.

"..." Adam watched her, sensing something behind that smile.

"Saki, your friend Adam is here!"

As the door closed behind Adam, Hana walked back to the living room and called out, motioning for her daughter to come down.

Bam! Bam!

As soon as Adam stepped into the living room, he heard the unmistakable sound of Saki stumbling upstairs. A smile crossed his face as he imagined the girl panicking to get dressed after learning he'd arrived.

"Sorry about that," Hana said, turning to him, but Adam simply waved it off. "And… may I ask how you met my daughter?"

Faced with the question, Adam thought for a moment.

He didn't want to lie and say he was a student. But he also didn't want to say he was an adult man—it might come off as weird… because it was weird.

Taking that into consideration, he opted for something simple.

After all, Saki wouldn't want him telling her mom that they became friends after she stalked him for days.

"We met through mutual friends. We've been friends ever since."

Hana blinked, surprised. It might sound cruel, but she didn't know her daughter had a group of friends.

Saki had always been isolated—even as a child. She was always home right after school, so it was almost shocking to hear she had friends now.

'Maybe that's my fault?' Hana thought. It was normal for parents to want their kids home on time, but she feared her words had come off too strict to Saki's ears.

Hana did want her daughter home—but she also didn't mind if she hung out with friends.

She felt she should talk to her daughter later.

"I see." Hana nodded.

"Sweetheart, what was all that noise—?"

A new voice reached Adam's ears, and he turned just in time to see a man entering from the kitchen.

Their eyes met—and Adam, filled with irritation upon seeing the pig-like man from his memory, couldn't stop the forced smile that formed on his lips.

And Saki's father, suddenly overwhelmed by a sense of hostility, shrank back, sweat dripping down his forehead as a crushing weight settled on his shoulders.

Those blue eyes stared at him like a lion staring down a wounded prey.

A prey that couldn't run, couldn't fight—only wait for its fate…

Death.

"Dear, this is our daughter's friend!" Hana, completely oblivious to the tension, said excitedly, pointing at Adam. "Don't be rude—introduce yourself!"

"O-Oh…" The man, still under Adam's gaze, stepped forward and swallowed hard. "Nice to meet you."

He bowed, and Adam, watching him for a moment, returned the gesture. "Nice to meet you too, sir."

It felt forced—on both ends—but Hana didn't seem to notice as she smiled, happy her husband was making a good first impression on a potential son-in-law…

And what potential...

"Dad, Mom!"

All three turned at the sound of a voice from the stairs. The older man let out a sigh of relief, while Adam and Hana turned and were met with quite the surprise.

"Don't embarrass me, please."

Standing at the top of the stairs, Saki looked completely different from her usual self.

With her silky hair loose and gently flowing, and soft makeup that didn't hide her natural charm, she already looked beautiful.

But with a navy blue dress that hugged her figure perfectly, her beauty was even more striking.

"Oh~" Hana looked genuinely shocked at how stunning her daughter was.

And Adam, beside her, smiled. Saki's looks didn't matter—he'd always thought she was cute—but it made him happy to see her finally taking care of her appearance.

There's a difference between not caring about looks and not taking proper care of yourself.

Saki, in her depressed state, had almost fallen into the latter.

It was great to see her reversing that.

"You look beautiful," Adam said without hesitation, causing the girl's cheeks to heat up so much they seemed to release steam.

"Let's go!"

Rushing down the stairs, she grabbed his arm and pulled him toward the door—eager to get him away from her parents before her mom could embarrass her.

"Hey, hey! Be careful!" Hana called out.

"We will!"

And as her daughter disappeared with Adam, she could only smile knowingly.

She had been young once too, after all.

"…I should've said something about protection."

"..."

The husband, still staring at where Adam had just stood, collapsed onto the couch with a heavy thud, a wave of intense relief washing over him.

He felt like he had just escaped death itself…
