Silence pooled between them like a shadow.
Adam folded his arms, gaze steady.
"I'm worried about Elaric, but that doesn't mean I trust you. Don't bother lying to me either."
His voice sharpened slightly.
"I have the ability to discern lies from truths."
Celestia wasn't bothered by his threats.
Her soft voice spoke naturally.
"Elaric himself was the one who first told me about the hidden floor. It was confirmed later by the viewer currently sponsoring me."
Adam glanced sideways as he waited for the lie-detector's answer.
'Another half-truth...'
She glanced upward briefly, as though she could see through the fabric of the floor and into whatever spectator loomed above.
Then she returned her focus to him.
"As for the reason I want to find it…"
Her voice dropped to a whisper.
"My sponsor told me that it's a place that holds everything I could ever want. Every desire, every answer I've always wanted.. Is that not tempting enough?"
Adam's eyes narrowed.
