It would be a lie to say I wasn't surprised by what I saw. I had imagined the Twelfth Soul Current as some incomprehensible force, perhaps a vast river of living Soul Force or an endless current flowing between dimensions. I had never considered that it might possess a physical form.
Yet the greatest shock wasn't her appearance.
She was alive.
There was no mistaking it. She wasn't a manifestation, a projection, or a consciousness existing within someone else's soul. She possessed a living body, a living soul, and an existence that felt disturbingly similar to mine. Somehow, a living being had existed within the Null Realm for an age beyond anything I could comprehend.
As though she had heard the thought, her black eyes shifted toward me and remained there.
She tilted her head slightly, studying me with an almost detached curiosity.
"A living being within this realm?" she murmured. "That does surprise me."
