Aurora was quiet for a moment after hearing my question. She looked at me, then toward Amun, and there was a strange expression in her eyes, almost as if she had been expecting me to ask this sooner or later. Finally, she let out a soft sigh and shook her head.
"You really are curious about everything, aren't you?"
I smiled. "If something doesn't make sense, I prefer to understand it rather than pretend it does."
"That is exactly why you should hear this from Amun himself," she replied, glancing toward him. "There are some things about this war that even we have kept hidden from you."
Amun chuckled when he heard that.
"I suppose there is no point hiding it anymore."
He stepped forward and stretched both hands slightly, his expression becoming unusually relaxed. "Besides, after what you have just accomplished, I think you have earned the right to know."
The moment his hands rose, the atmosphere around us changed.
I felt it before I saw anything.
