Beatrice Hargrave hung up the phone and turned around just as Nicholas Croft spoke, looking at her and calmly asking, "What's the matter?"
"Uncle, Dad... wants me to go home," Beatrice pressed her lips together, feeling quite helpless. Since Nicholas had come to the gym at noon, he had stayed with her the whole time, originally planning to tell her family she was pulling an all-nighter. Now, it seemed impossible.
Nicholas could roughly guess Henry Hargrave's intentions. He grabbed Beatrice's hand and said, "Let's go. I'll take you home."
The rehearsal had already ended, and apart from a few staff members, everyone else had left the gym. Beatrice had just changed out of her performance costume, ready to leave with Nicholas.
On the way back, Nicholas said while driving, "Beatrice, there's something I want to talk to you about."
"What is it?" Beatrice turned her head, and from her angle, Nicholas's side profile seemed somewhat stern as he looked ahead at the road.
