"Ah," Joseph Lancaster laughed, pulling back from his lips but holding Violet Zimmerman tightly.
"I know, if you were someone else's wife, I might have a chance to take you away, but you're my brother's, how can I take you."
In the darkness, Joseph's lips curled slightly, his distant eyes filled with the helplessness of love unfulfilled.
He sighed and said, "Violet, how about we be secret lovers, for a lifetime, never leaving each other."
"Joseph, don't do this, Daxton will be upset if he finds out." Violet pushed Joseph away in a panic, her heart pounding.
"I'm teasing you; have you forgotten all those unhappy things just now?" Joseph smiled at Violet, not wanting to put too much pressure on her. If someone in this extraordinary relationship had to bear something, whatever it was, he would bear it alone.
His woman, his child, should live carefree and happily, as long as she remains in his line of sight at all times, he would be satisfied.
