Whenever she saw other kids with their dads, Ivy always did the same things with her, and Ivy would do them even better. So she never really envied other kids for having dads—rather, those kids envied her for having Ivy.
Except Mom told her that Ivy could never be her dad.
"Ivy wants to give Mommy a dad because everyone else's mommy has a dad!" the little one said.
Upon hearing this, Mabel Quinn suddenly felt a pang of sorrow. She bent down and hugged her daughter's soft body. "Mommy just needs Ivy," she said. This little life connected by blood let her once again have a home.
Once, her father gave her a home, but that home ended when she was 11 years old.
Later, Kyle Kinston also said he would give her a home, but that home was too brief and too painful.
And now, because of the birth of this little life, she finally had a home, a home that could no longer be easily severed. Over these years, she has carefully maintained her home.
