Alice Turner spoke in an exceptionally heavy tone, and there was a trace of hostility in her voice. Fortunately, Isla Lane's attention was entirely focused on her pregnancy, and Alice's less-than-friendly attitude and tone were overlooked.
"Are you really not pregnant?" After hearing everything Alice Turner said, Isla Lane began to doubt the truth that she had firmly believed in, questioning the reality of the situation.
Upon hearing this, Alice Turner nodded with certainty. Even though she knew the person on the other end couldn't see her, she still did it, "I'm really not pregnant; I just finished my period a few days ago."
To convince the person on the other end, her mother-in-law and not the mother who watched her grow up, she shared about her period.
"Then why did Benjamin tell me that lie? He just called me with such a convincing story," Isla Lane still had doubts, half-believing and half-questioning, and needed to confirm further before making a final judgement.
