The Holy Emperor, upon listening, was not interrupted by anger but exclaimed in surprise, "I saw the Saint today."
"Saint?" Donggong Ruoshu replied in astonishment, "I don't know much either."
"Yao appointed Gun but the floods continued. Did Yao know Gun's incompetence in advance? Confucius met two children debating the sun on the road, yet he couldn't respond—wasn't that ignorance? People still revere them as Saints because they follow their virtue, not their wisdom."
"Oh..." Donggong Ruoshu, after thinking carefully, said, "Then I must be really powerful."
"Wisdom makes us think too much and do too little. The universe is vast and infinite; when will I reach its end? Knowing what you know, and not knowing what you don't, that is the virtue of a Saint. Knowing what you don't know, and not knowing what you know, that is the sin of the ordinary!"
