Carl and Robin stood silently, facing each other in the quiet of the room. Words weren't necessary; the comfort they felt in each other's presence said enough. But the peaceful moment was short-lived. A sudden, loud bang echoed as the door was kicked open. Luffy, Usopp, Nami, and Chopper tumbled onto the floor in a heap, while the rest of the crew stood behind them, grinning and watching the chaos.
"What are you guys doing in here at this hour?" Carl asked, rubbing his forehead in mock frustration.
"Hahaha! Congratulations, Teacher Carl! Congratulations, Robin!" Luffy shouted as he scrambled to his feet with a wide grin.
"You two finally made it official!" one of the crew teased. "We've been waiting for this for a long time!".
The room filled with the noisy, happy cheers of their friends. Only Sanji was absent from the immediate group; he was lying face-down on the deck outside, sobbing dramatically and pounding his fists against the wood. He lamented his "bad luck" while simultaneously wishing Robin-chan a life of happiness, much to the amusement of everyone who ignored him.
Nami and Tashigi decided that a simple proposal wasn't enough for such an occasion. They insisted on a celebration. Carl and Robin were whisked away to change into formal clothes, and a grand wedding banquet began right there on the ship. Luffy and Zoro made sure Carl's cup was never empty, while Nami and Tashigi pulled Robin aside to shower her with questions.
It was late into the night before the couple was finally pushed back toward their quarters. Marie, the clever girl, had already moved all of Robin's belongings into Carl's room. Though she acted like a "little ghost," both Carl and Robin knew they owed their current happiness to her persistent meddling.
"I'm exhausted and covered in sweat," Robin said, gesturing toward the bathroom with a natural, calm expression. "Shall we take a shower together?".
Carl blinked, his heart racing. "Is... is that okay?".
In the room next door, Marie had set up a small tea station with biscuits, ready to enjoy the quiet. However, a knock at the door revealed Nami and Tashigi. They claimed they had come to keep her company so she wouldn't be lonely, but Marie saw right through them. She rolled her eyes as the two "innocent" women immediately pressed empty cups against the wall to eavesdrop on the room next door.
As Nami and Tashigi blushed at the faint sounds they heard, Marie decided to take things a step further. Using her Finger Pistol technique enhanced by Armament Haki, she slowly drilled a small hole through the wooden wall. Nami and Tashigi gave her a silent thumbs-up of approval.
Marie peered through the hole, calmly munching on a biscuit.
"Um, Marie? Your nose!" Nami whispered urgently, handing her a handkerchief. "Your nose is bleeding!".
"Oh," Marie replied, her face expressionless even as her ears turned bright red. "I've just been eating too many biscuits lately. The heat is getting to me.".
Two days passed quickly. At Luffy's insistence, Nami had chosen the most dangerous and unstable route indicated by their Log Pose. The journey was a nightmare of natural disasters, including hailstorms, waterspouts, and massive tsunamis. Only the incredible durability of the Thousand Sunny kept them afloat.
By the end of the second day, the crew was exhausted. Law, finally losing his patience, marched onto the deck to confront the captain.
"Straw Hat, have you even thought about our next move?" Law asked, his voice strained. "Are we going to challenge the old Emperors, target Blackbeard, or start seizing territory? We need a plan!".
Luffy tilted his head, looking confused. "Why do we need a plan? Every direction is an adventure. It doesn't matter.".
Law felt a massive headache forming. He turned to Carl for help, but Carl seemed just as unconcerned. Law tried to explain that the New World was strictly divided into territories owned by the Yonko. Crossing into one without a plan was an invitation to a global crisis.
Luffy's eyes lit up. "That sounds great! More challenges and more adventures! I can't wait!".
Law looked at the rest of the crew for support, but Zoro, Sanji, Franky, and Brook were all grinning, ready for a fight. Nami, Usopp, and Chopper were shaking in fear, while Carl, Robin, and Marie just looked on, seemingly bored by the drama. Law wondered how he had ended up with such a reckless group.
"Carl, you're the reasonable one," Law pleaded. "Say something!".
"I think it's fine," Carl said with a shrug. "Luffy is right. It's an adventure no matter where we go. If we meet Kaido or Big Mom, we fight. If we meet Whitebeard's remnants, we drink. With our strength, we could probably break through the Red Line itself. Why worry?".
Law was speechless. "So... we aren't going to take any territory for ourselves?".
"No!" Luffy declared loudly. "Having territory means having bonds and responsibilities. That's not freedom. I want to be the freest person on the sea! That's what it means to be the Pirate King!".
Law was stunned by the simple conviction in Luffy's words. He realized then that he was following the most unique man in the world.
"Ah la la... Straw Hat Luffy really is a special guy," a familiar, lazy voice drifted across the deck.
The entire crew instantly snapped into a combat-ready stance, their eyes scanning the horizon for the unexpected visitor.
