Luffy grabbed the bento from Sanji and immediately sprinted toward the island with Usopp and Chopper. The rest of the crew landed one by one; some were eager to explore, while others chose to rest on the shore or stay aboard the Thousand Sunny.
"Robin, let's go to the island too," Carl said, feeling like a walk.
"Okay, I want to see if there are any ruins here," Robin agreed as she began to pack her small backpack.
Carl didn't like staying on the boat for too long. His goal in going to sea was to see the world, so he was always active when it came to exploring new places. Robin, of course, hoped to find traces of history.
"Is Marianne coming?" Robin asked, looking toward the young girl.
"I'm going hunting with Lion King," Marianne refused, patting the lion's back. "I don't want to be a third wheel." She headed into the forest first.
Carl and Robin weren't embarrassed by her words and walked into the island hand in hand. The peaceful atmosphere made it feel like a honeymoon, and both felt very happy. They pushed through bushes and crossed a small forest until they found a mountain stream. To them, the quiet scenery was beautiful, and Carl made sure to take photos for their private album.
Unfortunately, they didn't find any historical ruins. Robin wasn't disappointed; she had been searching for years and didn't mind the wait, especially now that she had Carl by her side. Carl checked his Devil Fruit radar, but when it showed no movement, he put it away. Even in the New World, Devil Fruits were rare and hard to find just by looking.
"When we have a child in the future, I'll bring them along to see the world," Carl said suddenly.
Robin was surprised but then smiled softly. She realized she was at an age where she could be a mother, and now that she was with the person she loved, a child would make their family complete.
"So, dear, have you thought of a name for the baby?" she asked gently.
"There's no rush for that," Carl replied. "We don't know if it will be a boy or a girl yet. We should discuss how many children we want first".
"Carl, you don't want a whole ship full of children like Whitebeard, do you? That might be difficult," Robin joked.
"Don't worry, I'll work hard," Carl promised with a grin.
They continued to chat as they walked deeper into the island. Suddenly, Carl used his Observation Haki and frowned. He sensed many violent presences ahead that didn't feel human. Remembering the sign on the shore, he wondered if these were the "Pig Gods".
Just then, a pig jumped out of the bushes. Carl was stunned because he recognized the creature. The vertical stripes on its body were a famous trait; there was only one place in the New World where these pigs lived.
"So, this Spring Island is the same one the Scratchmen Apoo arrived at in the original story?" Carl thought to himself. He remembered how the Long-Arm Tribe pirate had been bullied by these striped pigs and forced to run off a cliff into the sky. He hadn't expected the Straw Hats to land here.
"Carl?" Robin noticed he was distracted.
"Oh, it's nothing. I just remembered something," Carl said with a smile. "Robin, be careful. These striped pigs are quite strong. If you are careless, they can hurt you".
Robin realized what he was thinking. "Carl, do you want to use these pigs to train the crew?".
"Haha, you guessed it! My wife knows me so well," Carl laughed. "These pigs are powerful. I think Franky and Brook might struggle with them. It's a good chance for everyone to exercise, especially since many of them haven't awakened their Haki yet".
Robin felt a little sorry for the others. If Carl said the pigs were strong, they must be dangerous. But since Carl had decided on the training, no one would object.
"Then, let me test how strong this pig really is," Robin said. She tossed her backpack to Carl and faced the beast.
The striped pig saw that Robin wasn't afraid and became angry. It snorted and charged forward on all four hooves.
"Four Fleur: Rope!".
Four arms sprouted from the ground and grabbed the pig's legs. However, the pig didn't fall. It struggled violently and broke free from the arms. Robin was surprised; she hadn't expected it to be strong enough to overpower her grip.
"Six Fleur: Twist!".
Six more hands grew from the ground, holding the pig tightly and twisting its body with great force. The pig squealed in pain as its body was contorted, but it still didn't die.
"What a powerful pig," Robin sighed. "Its strength is almost like a Marine officer's. The New World is a strange place if even the pigs are monsters". She realized that Chopper and the others would definitely have a hard time. These pigs probably lived in herds, meaning there was likely a much stronger leader or a "Pig God" somewhere on the island.
"Two Fleur: Rankyaku!".
Two legs sprouted from the ground and delivered a sharp air kick, finally ending the pig's life. Carl scanned the area with his Haki and confirmed there were no other pigs nearby.
"This pork should be delicious. Let's take it back," Carl said. He lifted the dead pig onto his large sword and began to walk back with Robin.
Carl didn't know yet that the rest of the crew had already run into herds of these pigs and that battles were breaking out all over the island. But even if he knew, he wouldn't care. He believed that if they couldn't handle a few pigs, they wouldn't survive for long in the New World.
