The movie went on, and Aeri and I watched it in silence, sharing the nachos, popcorn, and cola we had bought earlier. The big screen glowed brightly in the dark theatre, and the story kept moving with funny moments and dramatic scenes. People around us laughed and reacted to the film, but I noticed Aeri was quieter than usual.
"Hahaha…" I laughed along with the rest of the theatre at a funny scene, but I didn't hear Aeri laughing at all. She sat still beside me, her eyes on the screen but her mind somewhere else.
"That was a good one. She really got him, right Aeri?" I asked, turning toward her with a smile.
But Aeri was looking down at the cola can in her hand, her fingers tracing the edge of it. She seemed lost in her thoughts, not really watching the movie.
"Oii," I said softly, leaning over and kissing her cheek gently.
"Hmm!?" Aeri jolted a little and sat up straight, blinking her eyes quickly like she had been pulled out of a deep thought.
