Ezra opened the back door of the cab and carefully helped me sit down inside. I let out a quiet internal sigh as I settled into the seat and pulled his coat tighter around my shoulders. The soft leather of the cab seat felt cold at first, but it was a relief to finally be off the street after such a long and heavy evening.
A short distance away, a sharp *horn* sounded. Yor's face lit up at the noise.
"Finally it's here!" she said in a bright, happy voice.
A navy-blue BMW rolled up and stopped right in front of the cab. The valet driver stepped out, walked around the car, and handed the keys to Sonny with a polite nod. Sonny took them with a small smile of thanks.
"Goodnight, Ezra!" Sonny called out, raising one hand and waving toward us. His smile looked bright and cheerful under the streetlights, as if the entire night had been completely normal.
