Dante raised an eyebrow, the comment having taken him by surprise.
"You're still suffering from CDR?"
"You sound surprised." Said Victoria.
"Well, you are a full cyborg." Dante said.
Volcan turned on the astral filter, allowing him to look into her soul. Things turned out to be much worse than he had anticipated. Both of her arms were empty, and so was her leg. Just like Riot, her heart was a gaping hole, and there were a few smaller ones around her stomach.
"Guess the cult doesn't have an easy fix for it, huh?"
"They say it's natural selection."
That drew a chuckle out of Dante. It was the last thing he expected to hear from a techno-cult.
"Natural selection."
He couldn't truly say that he didn't understand what they meant. If one's soul couldn't adjust to the new vessel, then they simply didn't have what it takes to advance on the cyborg path. Just because they chose to walk it doesn't mean everyone would be able to reach its end. Life was the same.
