Chapter 66 - I'm back

I'm back, and I can't apologize enough for seven fucking months of ghosting without even a warning or notice—especially to the people who were paying me during my absence. (You'll be compensated for your patronage.) Next time I disappear, you'll be informed or I'll offer a gift that extends your patronage until I come back. (Yep, I have no hope in me of ever changing that habit.)

And moving on from that, I've returned with a rewrite. (Like once wasn't enough.)

A little info on what transpired during my ghosting (nothing of value, really): I'm putting a stop to Dominar for good—the story is getting out of hand.

Even when I have the whole fucking layout in my face, I just can't progress the story—the same problem I previously had with this novel. The main issue is my desire to do everything: every quest/questline the game has, which puts me in a deadlock, since some questlines don't line up with the others. Well, worry not—I'm going to do something with it in maybe a year or two, or I'll just give up on it, and tell you.

And so, only Trialborn will be worked on and updated—except for maybe some one-shots, which might just be exclusive to Patreon.

Some are in the writing process: Detroit: Become Todd(Yep, as the name suggests, it's a disgusting fic), Rapunzel and maybe one more(It's a secret).

One of these isn't a one-shot—or short at all—so it won't be revealed any time soon. And, like the degenerate I am, all of them are smut.

Now, about Trialborn, you must be asking, "Why the rewrite?" And the answer is simple, I was reading through my own work(One thing I hate doing, it's cringe) and the comments, and all I can say is that they were right, Trialborn was a rushed through story that read more like a draft than an actual novel. And I wanted to change that.

With that said, I've removed the previous chapters from Patreon to make navigation easier. You can still read the old Trialborn draft on Webnovel—from Act 1: Chapter 1 to Act 2: Chapter 25.

The part below contains spoilers for Trialborn(This is kind of pointless since this is a rewrite, but I do recommend reading the new chapters first before reading the below section.)

What I missed out on most in the earlier version was stronger characterisation—especially with Albert Wesker. What I had wanted to do with him—and what should've worked better—was to show him going through a metamorphosis that wasn't just a half-assed back-pedalling change that went nowhere—hopefully my retarded brain doesn't forget this criticism—and then there was this thing with his personality becoming like Darius's—reason likely being me writing both characters at the same time that messed up the narrative for both—that's more lustful rather than loving, yes I wanted him to be just as obsessive as Darius for other reasons than Darius is, but he ended up becoming a copy of him, that was clingy, shallow(This isn't a shade to Darius, because his story requires him to be like that, unlike Wesker)

And it wasn't just with Wesker, it was Alicia, Madison, who were introduced in such a rush it didn't make sense like every other character, maybe except for Carley, I think it was done right with her, I wanted the two to have a "Love at first sight" kind of thing, but Wesker's personality became so weird, I don't know what I was doing.

But that "Love at first-sight" won't change in this rewrite

So, in retrospect, it was a shit show.

I'm going try and improve a few things so the novel reads smoother—less stalling, clearer chapter direction, and more forward momentum—so it actually moves at an exciting pace.

About scheduling(I know I don't have the best record for that, but I'll try): I'll upload one Trialborn chapter each week. Each chapter will be roughly 5k–15k words, so it should feel like an equivalent of about 4–5 chapters. One-shots will be posted in the third week of this month—the first will likely be Rapunzel, which is shorter than Detroit: Become Todd.
