Chapter 598 - Chapter 598: The Holy Emperor’s Strange Mission

Chapter 598: The Holy Emperor's Strange Mission

"I know you're impatient, but you need to wait just two more days. After that, my plan will be fully in place, and we can finally take our revenge on Dai Hao. No matter what, he won't be able to escape death!"

As she spoke the word "revenge," her tone became heavier, and a fierce light flickered in her eyes. She had been waiting for this moment for far too long.

If not for that damned Dai Hao, she would still have a happy and complete family.

Huo Yuhao nodded, a hint of emotion flashing in his gaze. "At last, I can avenge my mother. But before I kill Dai Hao, I need to make sure she sees his true nature. Even now, she still loves him. I have to make her let go of that illusion and realize she was wrong about him!"

Juzi was stunned for a moment, a trace of confusion in her eyes. "Yuhao, but… I thought your mother had already passed away?"

"She did," Huo Yuhao replied calmly, "but I pulled her soul back from the Netherworld. She now exists in a spiritual form."

Hearing this, Juzi's face lit up with joy. "That's incredible! But… Yuhao, what exactly is the Netherworld?"

"You can think of it as the place where the souls of the dead gather," he explained.

Juzi's eyes flickered with hope as a thought struck her. "Then… what about my parents?"

Her voice trembled slightly. Though she had devoted much of her life to revenge, hearing that Huo Yuhao had brought his mother back from the Netherworld made her think of her own parents.

If she could see them again even if only in spirit it would be more than enough. It had been years since she last felt their warmth, and she wasn't willing to let go of even the slimmest possibility.

Huo Yuhao sighed before speaking in a firm tone. "They've either reincarnated, remain in the Netherworld, or have been turned into vengeful spirits by the hands of evil soul masters. But don't worry, Juzi. No matter what, I will do my best to find them."

Juzi fell silent.

There was one more possibility neither of them had mentioned her parents' souls might have been completely destroyed.

If they had been turned into vengeful spirits, it was highly likely they had already perished in battle, used as disposable weapons by evil soul masters.

Taking a deep breath to steady herself, she looked at him with unwavering trust. "Yuhao, I believe in you."

Holy Spirit Cult Headquarters.

A heavy rainstorm raged outside, with lightning streaking across the sky. The cold, damp air filled the room.

Inside the dimly lit hall, a soul powered lamp cast a warm, golden glow, pushing back the surrounding darkness.

Sitting calmly in her chair with her eyes closed, Ye Xishui appeared to be in deep thought.

Standing respectfully to the side, Zhongli Wu reported, "Mother, based on my investigations, a large number of Sun Moon Empire soul engineer legions have been deployed to the front lines. It seems war is about to begin.

But why is the Sun Moon Empire launching this war without us? Do they really think Kong Deming alone can hold off all the top powerhouses of the Three Empires and Shrek Academy?

If you ask me, we should be making things harder for them gathering intelligence for the Three Empires and Shrek Academy, even selling them advanced soul tools.

If we can make sure the Sun Moon Empire faces setbacks and defeats, they'll have no choice but to turn to us for help. At that point, they'll have to meet our demands."

Ye Xishui's eyes snapped open, her tone sharp.

"Zhongli Wu! You're being reckless. If we stab them in the back, the Sun Moon Empire's intelligence forces will find out eventually. That would only bring us trouble.

Right now, the Holy Spirit Cult is facing a turbulent period this is not the time to stir up unnecessary complications.

We only need to wait patiently. Once the Sun Moon Empire starts struggling in the war, Xu Tianran will come crawling back to us, begging for an audience. At that point, he'll have no choice but to grant us greater benefits."

Zhongli Wu gritted his teeth in frustration.

"But, Mother, I just can't accept this! That bastard Xu Tianran promised he would fully support me as Grand Priest and make the Holy Spirit Cult the official state religion.

And yet now, he's completely ignoring us!

How much dirty work have we done for him? What have we gotten in return?"

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. As the leader of the Holy Spirit Cult, he had never endured such humiliation before.

If it had been anyone else treating him like this, he would have already slaughtered them to vent his rage.

Ye Xishui remained unfazed.

"Zhongli Wu, you know what kind of person Xu Tianran is. He only cares about profit.

Right now, the Sun Moon Empire's soul engineers led by Kong Deming bring him greater advantages.

That's the only reason he's keeping his distance from us."

She paused for a moment before adding in a meaningful tone.

"Besides, we have bigger concerns right now. We need to shift our focus to the Holy Emperor. That entity is on a completely different level from us.

If my guess is correct, the Holy Emperor is a true deity."

Zhongli Wu hesitated.

"Mother… why is the Holy Emperor issuing such strange tasks?"

Recently, some of the most devout Holy Spirit Cult soul masters had heard a grand and commanding voice in their minds.

The voice identified itself as the Holy Emperor and claimed to be rewarding those who had worshiped its statue.

However, the so called "rewards" were bizarre

The Holy Emperor assigned missions to certain evil soul masters, instructing them to commit atrocities and wait for the Slaughter God's chosen one to come and punish them.

No matter how strong they were, they had to lose the battle and flee.

Yet, once these evil soul masters completed their missions, they were handsomely rewarded receiving powerful soul bones and even new martial souls.

This quickly sparked envy among those who had not received any tasks.

A few greedy ones tried to ambush and kill those who had completed the missions to steal their rewards.

But strangely enough, they died mysteriously without any external force harming them.

Even Ye Xishui, a Limit Douluo, couldn't explain how they died.

In the end, she had no choice but to forbid anyone from stealing these soul bones.

"I don't know," Ye Xishui admitted.

"We cannot fathom the thoughts of beings at that level."

Her expression darkened.

"But, Zhongli Wu, remember this never devote yourself fully to the Holy Emperor.

We still don't know what happens to those who do."

Zhongli Wu nodded.

"Yes, Mother."

But in his heart, a new thought had already taken root.

If I truly devote myself to the Holy Emperor… would I also receive a mission?

Would I be able to ascend to godhood in a short period of time?

Deep into the night.

Mingdou Mountain Range.

Inside the Star Luo Army's camp, Dai Hao stood beneath the starry sky, completely motionless.

His expression was unreadable, his gaze locked on the endless expanse of stars above.

Beside him, Dai Yueheng hesitated before speaking.

"Father no… Grand Marshal, it's already late. Perhaps you should return to the command tent and rest?"
