The next morning, as dawn broke, Bi Xia led his team to Katrina's room. Upon opening the door and seeing the empty room, Meng Chi furrowed his brow. He had met Katrina and knew of her ruthlessness and cunning, so he instinctively shielded Bi Xia.
Bi Xia patted Meng Chi's shoulder, sidestepping him with a knowing smile as he entered the room. He glanced at the neatly folded quilt and chuckled, "Could you fold it like this?"
Meng Chi's expression flashed with awkwardness, "Boss, don't jest with me."
At home, he was accustomed to leaving the bed unkempt. Although they weren't the military here, their habits were militarized, and this environment permeated everything—even leaving the bed unmade felt oddly disgraceful.
Bi Xia laughed, lifted the meticulously folded quilt, and found a folded piece of paper beneath it, all while Meng Chi looked on in astonishment.
Meng Chi clicked his tongue and scratched his head, "Still so vigilant."
