Chapter 11 - chapter 11

Chapter 11: The First Conversation That Didn't End

The birthday hall slowly settled after the initial introductions.

Music played softly in the background again.

Laughter returned.

But something had shifted.

Aven could feel it.

Not loudly.

Not obviously.

But like a thread had been pulled somewhere in the room—and she just hadn't seen where it led yet.

The Boy Who Looked First

He approached her when the adults were distracted.

Not rushed.

Not hesitant.

Just… direct.

The same boy from earlier.

Dark hair neatly styled.

Eyes that held quiet focus even in a child's face.

He stopped a short distance away.

Alder immediately stepped in front of Aven.

The boy looked at him.

Then slightly to the side—toward Aven.

"…you're loud," he said calmly to Alder.

Alder blinked.

Then frowned.

Aven stared.

The boy turned his attention fully to her now.

Up close, his expression wasn't cold.

Just observant.

Like he was trying to understand something he hadn't expected to see.

"You're the birthday twins," he said.

Aven didn't respond.

She didn't know if she should.

Alder, however, tightened his grip on her hand again.

The boy noticed that.

Then, after a pause—

"…I'm Leon."

Aven blinked.

The name settled in her mind slowly.

Leon.

He didn't smile.

But he didn't leave either.

Just stayed there.

Looking.

Like he had decided she was worth remembering.

Alder's Immediate Dislike (Without Knowing Why)

Alder pulled Aven slightly behind him.

Leon noticed.

Then glanced at him.

"…you don't need to hide her."

Alder made a small sound of protest.

Leon didn't react.

Just shifted his gaze back to Aven.

And for some reason—

that made Aven's chest feel slightly strange.

Not uncomfortable.

Just unfamiliar.

The First Fracture of "Normal"

Before anything else could happen—

Hazel called Aven away again.

And Leon was gone in the crowd just as quickly.

Like he had only been a brief interruption.

But Aven remembered him.

That was the problem.

After the party, the F4 did not disappear.

They returned.

Slowly.

Naturally.

As if the encounter had simply created an opening in their lives.

Leon – The Observer

Leon began appearing in places Aven didn't expect.

Not often.

But enough.

He didn't talk much.

But when he did, it was always directed at her.

"What are you doing?"

"Why are you sitting there?"

"You're quiet again."

Aven never fully answered him.

But she noticed—

he always waited for her response anyway.

Even if she didn't give one.

Another Boy – Ray

Ray was the opposite.

He spoke too easily.

Smiled too much.

"Aren't you small?" he asked once, crouching in front of her.

Alder immediately pulled Aven closer.

Ray laughed.

"I didn't mean it badly."

Then, softer:

"You just look like you break easily."

Aven blinked at him.

Ray tilted his head.

Then suddenly grinned.

"I like that."

Alder did not like that.

At all.

Ian Watches the Balance Shift

Ian noticed something early.

Aven's attention shifted slightly when the boys were around.

Not away from her family.

But… distributed differently.

She observed them more.

Processed them.

Ian didn't react.

But he sat closer to her that night.

Longer than usual.
