Deep beneath a ruined facility once controlled by David, silence reigned.
Dust drifted slowly through the dim red glow of emergency lights.
Cracked monitors flickered weakly, broken wires sparked like dying fireflies, and the air hung heavy with the stench of abandonment.
The lab had been left to rot, forgotten by the world.
But something inside had awakened.
Glass pods stood like graves in a soldier's cemetery. One was shattered—its steel frame dripping with the remnants of dried black blood.
The nearby screens sputtered to life, damaged files looping endlessly. A corrupted recording played, the voice of a long-dead scientist speaking through static. "Subject Zero initiated. Viral strain injected. Target: unstoppable evolution. Result: stable." Another log followed, David's voice this time, low and tense. "I created him to rival MRD. To kill him if needed. But something's wrong. He didn't grow… he mutated. I lost control." The footage glitched into darkness, then flashed one final entry: "Subject shows signs of aggression… Recommending full lockdown."
Months later, the sound of boots echoed down rusted corridors.
Five scientists in hazmat suits advanced cautiously, flashlights cutting through the haze. "Power's still functional," one muttered. "Whatever David left behind… is still alive."
The flicker of overhead lights revealed streaks of blood, deep claw marks gouged into walls, and machinery ripped apart like paper.
At a control panel, a technician's voice trembled. "Containment breach… months ago. Subject Zero missing."
They pressed deeper into the lower wing, unaware that one of them had already wandered too far.
From the shadows came a low growl, then a blur of movement.
The man's scream tore through the silence.
They found him moments later, collapsed on the floor, neck torn open yet still breathing, his skin cold, his eyes twitching violently. "We need to get him in the isolation chamber—now!"
Hours later, under harsh white light, the injured scientist began to change.
His veins darkened like ink spreading under glass.
His breathing grew erratic.
His eyes, once human, were now pools of bloodshot rage.
Without warning, he rose, shattering the restraints. "He shouldn't be awake yet…" one scientist gasped before the glass exploded outward.
The man lunged at the nearest colleague, teeth sinking deep. Screams filled the lab. One became two. Two became three. Three became four. The infection spread like a curse.
The last survivor staggered into the main recording chamber, sealing the heavy door behind him.
His hands shook as he activated the camera. "This is Dr. Elan Kor. I don't know who'll see this… if anyone. Subject Zero mutated. This is no longer an enhancement project—it's an infection. It spreads through bite only. It's not airborne. But it doesn't kill. It… converts. It turns you into something else. Soulless. Hungry."
His voice broke as a heavy thud shook the door. "If this reaches the surface… God help us."
The metal behind him tore like paper. The door flew inward. The shadows moved fast—too fast. He turned, eyes wide, but they were already on him. He screamed as they dragged him to the ground, blood spraying across the lens.
The camera fell sideways, capturing only chaos. Clawed hands pulled his twitching body into the dark. The lights dimmed, the sounds faded, and the recording ended.
The facility returned to silence. But death had changed. And it was only the beginning.
