Chapter 123 - Mercy Is Not For Me

At the bottom of the sea — Atlantis City

Temple of Poseidon

Even underwater… I felt like I was crying. The heat of those tears—tears that should never exist at such depth—blended with the cold of the ocean.

Something, deep within me, whispered:

"I don't negotiate with the enemy. I don't speak with those who take pleasure in evil."

But another voice, fainter, answered:

"Everyone has the chance to repent, to correct their mistakes and become better."

That compassion lasted only an instant… before being devoured by something older, firmer, more just:

"Yes, everyone has that option… but if they choose to ignore it, then they must face the consequences. Those who make innocents suffer deserve a punishment as inhuman and unjust as their own actions."

That was when I resolved the war between my mind and my soul.Doubt died… and what remained within me was pure conviction.

For a moment I remembered the gorgons' words:

"Poseidon is invincible if he is in water."

And then I knew…I shouldn't give him even the chance to react, to attack, or to flee.Reduce his options, before he even has them.

I looked at him directly. The god who once ruled the seas was now just a man… trapped in the arrogance of his divinity.

And I said to him, in a cold voice so dense the water itself seemed to tremble:

—You… must suffer.And die horribly.

Poseidon laughed.

His laughter echoed like thunder shaking the temple's sand.

Poseidon: —"Hahaha… stop talking nonsense and get out of here.I don't want to kill a child." (Where the hell did Snusy go?)

At that moment, I felt as if the water itself turned against me.

Every inch of my being was restrained.

I looked at the god of the sea.

And he said, making a gesture with his fingers:

Poseidon: —"Get out of here!"

His words were obeyed by the ocean.

I was blasted away—from the Temple, from Atlantis. From the sea itself.

My bones cracked under the violent force that propelled me away.

And then I understood:

"So this is why they said he was invincible in water."

The water expelled me to the surface, as if I were an intruder.

I tried to dive back in, but nothing.

I stood on the water as if it were land.

Then I activated three basic abilities.

[Basic Skill «Absolute Resistance» Nullifies ConceptualPower.]

[Basic Skill «Infinite Speed» Breaks entry into the Domain.]

[Basic Skill «Dimensional Adaptation» Makes you invisible to the Domain.]

At that moment. The sea showed me no resistance at all.

I moved in an instant toward where I had been expelled.

I stopped near the Narwhal. I went in and searched for an object I had seen.Upon leaving, I found a pair of chains and left them outside Poseidon's Temple.

And with a pain in my chest for what I was about to do…

I walked toward Poseidon once again.

At the bottom of the sea — Atlantis City

Temple of Poseidon

Brian closed his eyes and sighed. He turned his face to the side.

The gaze in his eyes wavered before everything burning in his heart: indignation, pain, compassion, and cruelty. All of it danced in a dangerous balance, fragile… human.

He barely opened his mouth, as if a scream from the depths of his soul begged for help. But no sound came out.

Until his eyes darkened. And nothingness covered his intention.

His breathing became mechanical, devoid of soul. It was as if his chaotic mind had finally reached an inevitable conclusion.

For the first time, that world would tremble. Not before a threat. But before a force.

A force with a face.

One that showed no emotion nor compassion.

An expression that everyone, sooner or later, would call Desface.

Poseidon felt an ominous sense of danger.

He didn't understand why something so dark could come from a child without thirst for blood.

Intrigued, he asked:

Poseidon: —"I'm sure I expelled you: who are you?" (How can something like this give me chills underwater?)

Brian tilted his head slightly, eyes dull, as if he hadn't even heard him.

—You still don't know?

Poseidon: —"I'm serious, kid… who are you?" (My instincts are telling me something… what is it?)

A small smile curved Brian's lips, so subtle it was almost a grimace.

—You don't deserve to know.

Poseidon: —"Y-you…" (What…?)

In the blink of an eye, Poseidon found himself tied to a chair.

His legs and arms were broken. Even conscious, he did not scream.

He only watched, gasping, at the figure in front of him.

Poseidon: —"What the hell did you do to me!?" (A second ago I was standing… how?)

Brian tilted his head, his hair floating slowly like black smoke underwater.

—It's the beginning of your punishment. Enjoy it.

Poseidon: —"Let me go, you insane bastard!!" (I need to regenerate… but my bones, my muscles… they're not responding.)

Brian leaned toward him, until he was centimeters from his face. His voice came out as barely a whisper, yet it froze the water between them.

—You didn't do it with Melissa. Why should I do it with you?

At the sound of her name, the god's eyes widened in terror. His breathing quickened.

Poseidon: —"You don't understand!!If I die… that monster's seal could weaken." (Damn it, why is healing so hard?)

Brian raised an eyebrow, his gaze a human abyss.

—Not my problem. Why should I care?

A chill ran down Poseidon's spine. For the first time in millennia… he felt fear.A real fear.

Poseidon: —"B-because I think you know… that I'm trash." (I need time… I need time…)

Brian smiled emptily.

—And am I not the same?

Poseidon: —"W-what?" (What is this guy?)

—Do you think you're the only one who can do whatever he wants?

Poseidon: —"N-no…" (Just a little more, I need to heal…)

—Then you're aware there are monsters more cruel than you.

The boy's voice grew heavy, cold, distant.

Poseidon: —"B-but you're someone sensitive…" (I can feel my arms… just a bit more…)

Brian slowly turned his head to the side, expression empty, but his smile… inhuman.

—Oh, how innocent you are. You don't know the inescapable reality.

Poseidon: —"What reality?…"

—The most sensitive ones… always end up becoming the cruelest monsters. Don't expect mercy from me.

He took a circular diamond-tipped saw, brought from the Narwhal.

The sound of the motor broke the silence, and hundreds of bubbles exploded around them, floating like fireflies.

Brian took a single slow breath, never taking his eyes off the god.

Slowly, he brought the saw toward Poseidon's groin.

Poseidon: —"W-wait!!" (That thing can't hurt me… right?)

His thought shattered with the scream.

Poseidon: —"WUUAAAAHHHRRGGHH!!"

The god screamed in pain, his divine flesh tearing apart. The saw crushed muscle, skin, and bone.

His golden blood spread, painting the water like a bleeding sun.

The entire temple trembled with his screams.

Outside, the inhabitants of Atlantis—alarmed by the recent earthquake—gathered near the temple.

Many recognized the voice. It was their guardian god. And panic spread.

The predators and sharks of the realm grew agitated. The scent of golden blood drove them mad, and chaos began.

Inside the temple. Sam broke already-broken bones. Poseidon's flesh dissolved between his hands.

The water inside the temple turned into liquid gold.

—The secret of the sirens. Tell me.

Barely conscious, the sea god muttered:

Poseidon: —"T-the secret… Triton knows it… a-ask him…"

—Then you're no longer useful to me.

Poseidon: —"No… please… forgive me… I'll be better…" (If I manage to regenerate… I'll kill you.)

Brian lowered his head, casting a shadow over his face.

—Benevolence and mercy are not for me.

And so, he amputated Poseidon's limbs one by one.

Each cut was a roar, each crack of bone a sentence.

He threw them outside the temple, where sharks, drawn by divine blood, devoured them.

Leaving only the torso and head—still alive, still agonizing.

Sam grabbed him by the hair, dragging him out of the temple.

The golden body left a luminous trail, like a comet of blood.

The inhabitants of Atlantis…Drawn by the chaos of the immense shark swarm…approached the temple.

And at the gates of the sanctuary…they saw it.

And all the gods…from the Zones as well…

The silhouette…

of the child.

Dragging the god.

Inside a temple now in ruins.

Those present…were horrified by the miserable state of their guardian. Fear paralyzed them.

But the gods felt it. The shadow of a repeating trauma. The echo of myths breaking before their eyes.

Brian threw the body in front of the crowd. The echo of his voice, distorted by the water, was barely a whisper:

—You were nothing, you are nothing, and now… you will represent nothing.

And the sharks did the rest.
