The golden light of the teleport faded, and the group reappeared in the grand hall of Solara's palace. The marble floor shimmered faintly, sunlight streaming through massive crystalline windows. For a moment, everything seemed peaceful—until a deafening shriek echoed through the halls.
Ramiris (furious):"WHERE IS VELSUN?!"
The walls themselves trembled as her magicules surged outward like a storm, filling every corner of the palace. The pressure was so sharp and raw that even Zalario's usually unreadable eyes widened slightly.
Veldora winced and muttered under his breath. Veldora:"Uh-oh. Here comes trouble."
Velsun blinked, actually stepping back instinctively, sweat forming on his brow—not from fear of her power, but from something far worse: the wrath of a wife.
Velsun (thinking):'W-what the hell? Why is she screaming my name like that? Did I… forget something? Anniversary? A promise? … Wait, did I leave the kitchen in flames again? Damn it, brain, think!'
And then came Mimir's calm, mentor-like voice in his mind—carrying that dry humor as always. Mimir:«Analysis complete: Lad… you are done for. Probability of survival without groveling: 0.00004%.»
Velsun twitched. Velsun (thinking):'That low?!'
Ramiris appeared in the doorway, small but radiating a terrifying aura that made even Karlos inch away, smiling nervously. Her eyes locked on Velsun like a predator spotting prey.
Karlos (whispering to Zalario):"…Should we… step in?" Zalario (deadpan):"Do you want to die?"
Reinhart, still exhausted from the duel, simply laid down on a nearby step and muttered. Reinhart: "… Yeah, I'm not getting involved in this one."
Ramiris stormed forward, her steps echoing across the marble floor, her aura still buzzing through the palace. Velsun instinctively took another step back, but then his eyes froze—not on her face, but on the small child she was holding in her arms. A boy, with faint golden sparks flickering around his tiny body.
Ramiris (furious):"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL THIS TIME, HUH?!"
Velsun raised both hands defensively. Velsun:"Ramiris, listen, we were just testing some of—"
Ramiris (cutting him off, voice sharp):"I DON'T CARE, YOU IDIOT!"
The word "idiot" hit him harder than Reinhart's Astral Breaker. He actually flinched, shoulders tightening. But his attention snapped back to the child in her arms.
Velsun (hesitant):"...Can I at least ask...who exactly is this child you're holding?"
Ramiris puffed her cheeks, eyes blazing. Ramiris:"THAT'S the matter, you idiot! One day, I was just peacefully sleeping in my bed, as always, and then—suddenly—my stomach started enlarging!"
The entire hall went still. Velsun froze mid-blink. Zalario's usually unreadable face twitched. Even Veldora's jaw dropped.
Ramiris continued, her words coming fast. Ramiris:"I panicked, of course, but then this bright light came out of my stomach—BOOM!—and the next second, I'm holding this child!"
She lifted the baby slightly for emphasis, the boy's tiny eyes blinking with innocent confusion.
Velsun's face went completely blank—deadpan, utterly frozen. He wasn't the only one; his entire gang mirrored the same "what the hell did we just hear?" expression.
Velsun (slowly): "...Wait. What?"
Velsun raised his hands again, trying to ease the storm. Velsun:"Okay, okay, calm down. This is… new, I get it. We should handle it calmly."
Ramiris's eyes flared, her wings twitching in agitation. Ramiris:"Handle it calmly?! Are you nuts?! You were literally missing during our child's birth, and I had to look after him all alone!"
The words of our child echoed through the hall like a thunderclap. Veldora actually choked on his own breath, Zalario's arms froze mid-cross, Reinhart blinked like someone had just punched his brain, and Karlos tried—and failed—to smother a laugh.
And then came Mimir's dry, cutting voice in Velsun's head. Mimir:«Analysis: Lad, you went out to get some milk and returned far too late. Statistically, your wife is justified. Probability of forgiveness: negligible without groveling.»
Velsun's expression darkened, shadow covering his eyes. Velsun (thinking):'…Shut up, Mimir.'
He let out a sharp breath, then took a careful step forward, his tone softening. Velsun:"Calm down, Ramiris. At least… at least let me hold this child."
Ramiris hugged the baby tighter for a moment, glaring at him, eyes narrowing like she was weighing his soul. Then, with a huff, she slowly extended the boy toward him.
The entire group leaned forward unconsciously, even holding their breaths, as if the fate of the world hinged on this moment.
The child blinked up at Velsun, tiny hands curling toward him as Ramiris finally, reluctantly, let go.
Velsun cradled the child carefully, golden hair catching the light from the palace windows. His eyes softened as he examined the tiny face.
Velsun:"Mimir… this child really does look like me… and Ramiris—blonde hair, those golden, sun-like eyes… Dammit, this child is adorable."
Mimir:"Aye, lad. Truly, he looks like you. One would think the sun itself has taken form in a bundle of screams and tiny fists.
Velsun frowned slightly, brow furrowing. Velsun:"But… wasn't that supposed to be impossible, Mimir? From what I know from my past life… beings like me and Ramiris should be incapable of having a child. The only exception… Milim. She was born after Veldanava left his powers. So how… how is this even happening?"
Mimir:«Lad… Currently, I cannot find any logical explanation. The laws of nature, biology, and metaphysics all seem to have… politely stepped aside.»
Velsun blinked down at the child, tiny fingers curling around his thumb. A rare quiet fell over the palace as the sheer weight of this impossible miracle settled.
Velsun (thinking aloud):"So… what would this child be, exactly? Milim was a Dragonoid—child of a True Dragon and a High Human. My son… would he be the same? Or something else entirely?"
Mimir:«Lad… If I were a betting man—which I am not—he is likely… something that will cause both awe and headaches in equal measure. I suggest patience… and perhaps a reinforced palace.»
"Mimir, I didn't ask you to glaze my child… I asked if you have a name for his race. Since his father is a True Dragon and his mother the Spirit Queen, I don't think 'Dragonoid' really fits… Or should I just call him that?"
Mimir: «Ah… so that's what you meant, lad. Father: True Dragon. Mother: Spirit Queen. Normally, a Dragonoid covers True Dragon + Human, but… this is different. Calling him Dragonoid would be like calling a star a candle. It fits in part, but not fully.
Velsun: "So… what do you suggest, Mimir?"
Mimir: «Lad… if you insist on a label, perhaps… 'Solarion.' A being of sun-blood and spirit essence. Unique. Rare. Likely to cause a few minor catastrophes before he's twenty. But it fits better than Dragonoid.»
Velsun stared at him deadpan. "Solarion, seriously? … Nvm. I'll go with Dragonoid."
Mimir: «Then why the hell did you ask me for a name?»
Velsun shrugged lightly, still expressionless. "I didn't feel like it. Dragonoid is simpler. Easier for paperwork."
Mimir muttered, dry as ever: «Lad… you'll regret this when the boy starts throwing sunfire tantrums at five.
Velsun just tilted his head, unimpressed, looking down at the tiny bundle in his arms. "Let him try. For now… I'll just call him 'son.'"
The child stirred, tiny fists curling, radiating a faint golden warmth even in sleep. The palace seemed brighter just from his presence.
Mimir: «Ah… yes, lad. 'Son.' That will save you paperwork headaches for the next century. Progress at last.»
I kept staring at my child, my heartbeat racing—and for the life of me, I didn't even know I had a heartbeat.
'Is this… what it feels like to have a child?' I thought, completely dumbfounded.
Then, an idea struck me. 'Wait… I got a great name for my son's race: Dracspiritus. Half dragon, half spirit.'
Mimir's voice echoed dryly in my mind: «Good name, lad.»
I turned to Ramiris with a small smile. "Ramiris… have you thought of a name for our child?"
Her anger seemed to vaporize instantly at my calm tone and smile. She looked at the baby and shook her head. "No… I haven't thought of it yet."
I nodded gently, holding the child a little closer. "If you don't mind, shall we name him Karna Sun? His first name will be Karna, and the family name… Sun."
(For the readers: Yeah, I know what you're thinking. I took inspiration from Milim—she's called Milim Nava, with 'Nava' coming from Veldanava. Since my name is Velsun, I just went with Sun. Creative, right?)
Ramiris finally smiled, her golden eyes softening as she reached for the baby. "Karna Sun… I like it."
I exhaled, a rare feeling of calm settling over me. Finally… everything felt… right.
