The moment Daniel stepped into the light, all external sounds faded away.
He couldn't hear the gate closing, his own breathing, or even his heartbeat.
He felt as if all the concepts that had seemed self-evident just moments ago were disappearing one by one.
When he opened his eyes again, there was no trace of the Founders' Hall, the stone statues, or the tower's professors.
Around him was only an endless whiteness. A whiteness that was neither light nor darkness. There was no sky, no ground, no horizon, no direction by which to distinguish up from down.
Even his own body seemed to have lost its weight. He felt neither standing nor floating.
As if the very concept of place had been removed from this space before his arrival.
Daniel slowly looked around and extended his divine sense.
