With a scornful smile, Yvonne stated, "I don't need to remember what he likes. After all..."
Her voice trailed off as she glanced at Shawn expectantly.
Instinctively, he continued, "Whatever she likes, I like it, too."
"Too bad I hate pork ribs," Yvonne commented, to which Shawn was quick to agree.
"I hate pork ribs, too."
"You!" Jeanette was in disbelief.
Moments later, tears began to well up in her eyes as she pulled a pitiful expression. "We're supposed to be childhood sweethearts, Shawn. Why won't you stand up for me?"
Unfortunately for her, Shawn only gave her a puzzled look. "I don't know you very well, Ms. Miller. Stop making things up."
His words pierced her heart mercilessly. She finally had enough.
With her hands balled into fists, she accused, "Are you really going to abandon what we had for someone you barely know?"
Before Shawn could retort, Kayla asked abruptly, "Do you need a toothbrush and some toothpaste, Pretty Lady?"
