Chapter 142 - Chapter 141: New Skill Perk

After hanging up the phone, Lin Mo sat cross-legged on his bed, his gaze deep and unmoving like still water.

Without a word, he put the braindance headset back on.

Moments later, a luxurious, finely crafted red evening dress with a silky smooth texture materialized beside him.

Tiny pearl-like sparkles adorned the hem of the multilayered skirt like stars sinking into a red ocean. The upper part of the dress was made up of only a few slender straps—nothing more.

Lin Mo could practically imagine the effect if someone wore it: from collarbone to shoulders, the skin would be fully exposed, and the few delicate straps would only serve to emphasize the wearer's allure, drawing all attention to her upper body—a dazzling vision.

The fabric was both resilient and silky, seemingly just an ordinary evening gown.

Operating on the principle that "the skimpier it looks, the higher the defense," Lin Mo examined the garment with the calm detachment of a gentleman—feeling no particular embarrassment despite its feminine nature.

Still, since it had zero visible protective features, he didn't dare use the Black Unicorn to test its defensive properties.

Instead, he grabbed a random fruit knife from the house and tried slicing the dress.

As expected, the garment's defense matched its appearance—one light cut and a slit appeared instantly.

"So much for 'everything from the simulator is top-tier.' What happened to you?" he sighed, returning the knife to its place.

He had assumed that simulator-generated gear would be like in games: a seemingly ordinary evening dress with better stats than body armor.

Clearly, that had been wishful thinking.

"Well, it's expensive at least. Might as well give it to David's mom."

Seeing the item name—[The Lady's Evening Dress]—on the simulator made it obvious who it was meant for.

He had also been strategic about where he tested the cut; unless someone wore it, the damage wouldn't be visible.

Since the dress had no real combat use, Lin Mo decided to have it shipped out.

Even if it had legendary-tier defense, there was no way he'd wear it himself.

He picked up the phone.

"Hello? Prestige Logistics? Yes, I've got a package to ship. The address is..."

After the call, Lin Mo carefully packed the simulator rewards and placed the bundle in the home's delivery area.

In under an hour, a drone from the courier company would arrive to collect the parcel.

Depending on the destination, the drone would choose the appropriate transport mode.

Given how unsafe the seas were nowadays, cross-ocean shipping was the most expensive. Air freight came next, then ground vehicles.

This was just a local delivery, though, so it would arrive quickly.

He estimated that David's mom—Gloria—would probably find the package waiting when she left the house the next morning.

"Next up, time to check out the new skill perk."

With that errand settled, Lin Mo returned to his bedroom and eagerly put the braindance headset back on.

The familiar simulator screen appeared, and he focused on his character's stats.

[Current Attributes: Body 7, Reflexes 14, Tech 3, Intelligence 4, Cool 6]

Compared to the beginning, his stats weren't a complete overhaul, but they had improved significantly.

Especially Reflexes—just a sliver away from the level cap of 20.

So it was a no-brainer where to place his new attribute point.

Smiling, Lin Mo added it to Reflexes.

Reflexes: 15.

With that, new Reflex skill perks unlocked. Excited, he scrolled through the list.

New Reflex Skill Perks:

Preemptive Strike – Your reactions are razor-sharp; you always act a step ahead of your enemies.

Aware of Ambush – You develop a sixth sense for sneak attacks.

Adrenaline Surge – The more injured you are, the faster your reactions become.

Stress Evasion – When you're about to be discovered while sneaking, you instantly find a hiding spot.

Eyes Like a Hawk, Sight Like a Flame – Your dynamic vision reaches new heights. Like a falcon in a dive, you can track your prey at breakneck speeds. (+50% enhanced dynamic vision)

Recovery Roll – You instinctively shift into safe positions and postures to avoid attacks—though still ineffective against invisible threats.

Reading Minds – You can read the subtle changes in a person's facial expressions with ease.

Draw Slash / Quick Draw – Whether drawing a sword or gun, your perception of time slows by 50% until your first attack is complete.

Tranquil Mind, Lightning Reflex – While using Sandevistan, your melee damage is increased by 100%. Nothing can withstand your blade!

Rainbow Piercing the Sun – Your first Sandevistan-boosted attack gets a special buff.

Sword: First hit deals +200% damage.

Gun: First shot is a guaranteed critical hit to a weak point.

Blood to the Underworld, Blossoms Above – Melee kills restore 10% of your current health. Ranged kills slow your perception of time by 5% for 10 seconds per kill.

Kamaitachi – Your hearing becomes superhuman. You can pinpoint enemies just from subtle air currents.

Pierce the Veil – Your terrifying reflexes grant uncanny intuition. When you stare at someone, you can roughly discern their attributes.

Ghoststep, Wraithspeed – While in Sandevistan slow mode, you cannot be locked-on by any system—not even smart weapons can touch you.

Even though he had prepared himself mentally, seeing the post-20 skills still stunned him.

His usual calm composure cracked. His mouth hung slightly open in disbelief, and his eyes widened in awe.

It took a while before he could collect himself enough to focus on the choices.

Compared to the earlier perks, the ones from level 21 onward were outrageously powerful.

Then he looked at his available perk points:

[Remaining Perk Points: 1]

Goddamn... I want all of them.

Thankfully, when he got the "Not a Single Bird Crossed the Sky" evaluation last night, he had resisted the temptation to immediately spend that point.

Perk points were incredibly rare. Every single one from the simulator was precious—best used where they'd yield the most return.

Besides, he had suspected that the later perks would be much stronger.

And it turned out he was right—no prerequisite conditions, just spend a point to activate.

So the smarter strategy was to hoard points for these high-tier perks.

After some thought, Lin Mo finally settled on the one he desired most:

→ [30. Ghoststep, Wraithspeed] – While in Sandevistan slow mode, you cannot be locked onto. Not even smart weapons can target you.
