Boom!
With the dinosaur's massive size, there was no way it could dodge Roy's fist. The punch landed square on its jaw, sending it crashing backward onto the ground, flat on its back.
Yup, Roy had been pulled down to the ground earlier, so this attack was an upward strike.
Roy figured the force of that punch, boosted by his various status skills, was around 240. Yet, it only knocked the dinosaur down, not out for good.
This thing's built like a tank!
Still, that hit definitely did some serious damage. You could tell because the dinosaur flopped into the sea and didn't resurface for a while.
Right then, the flying dragon that had ambushed Roy earlier swooped in for another attack.
This guy wasn't all that big—about the size of a military helicopter—but it was fast and nimble, which let it dodge the earlier blue beam that had cleared the area.
"You're back for more?" Roy taunted.
He didn't bother dodging. His body was coated in armor manifested from chaos energy, so he let the flying dragon grab him.
The dragon, thinking it had the upper hand, let out a smug, piercing screech. But the next second, it realized its mistake as a dozen black tentacles sprouted from Roy's body, several of them piercing right into its flesh.
That smug screech turned into a wail of agony.
The Dark Touch drained the dragon's blood and flesh at lightning speed, and with See You Again playing as its dramatic BGM, it started plummeting like a crashing chopper.
Roy wasn't about to take a dip in the sea while holding onto Eluresa. That sticky green seawater was gross and probably not the cleanest.
So, he kicked the dragon away and flapped his gray wings to take flight.
But just then, another bizarre creature burst out of the sea, its massive jaws lunging at Roy.
(Sea Dragon Leviathan, straight out of Subnautica.)
This thing had all the freaky traits of a deep-sea monster, looking like some weird hybrid of multiple ocean creatures.
Caught off guard, Roy was swallowed whole.
"What the hell?!"
He'd been ready for anything, but getting eaten by a monster? Not on the list.
"Is it dark out?" Eluresa mumbled, seeming to snap out of her daze from all the chaos, only to find herself in pitch-black surroundings with sweltering heat.
"No, we just got swallowed by something!" Roy shot back.
The Dark Touch was still active, but this sea monster was massive. Even with the tentacles sucking like crazy, it'd take time to bring it down.
So, Roy reached out to recall the Leviathan Axe. The axe could fly back to its owner's hand, no matter the distance or obstacles, as long as they were in the same world.
The sea monster let out a pained screech as the Leviathan Axe zoomed back, slicing through its belly to return to Roy's hand.
"Eluresa, hold tight! We're getting out!"
The Dark Touch retracted sharply, and Roy, gripping the Leviathan Axe, swung it with a mighty cleave, splitting the monster's belly open. He and Eluresa finally broke free.
Yup, not just Roy—Eluresa made it out, too.
"Ahh!"
But no sooner had Roy emerged from the monster's gut than he was greeted by a massive blue beam.
Turns out, the dinosaur from earlier had recovered in the sea, charged up some energy, and unleashed a blast at the sea monster.
Lucky for Roy, the dinosaur's aim was on the sea monster, not him. His smaller size meant he was overlooked, giving him a chance to dodge.
The sticky green seawater, though, was seriously slowing him down, especially with his giant Nephilim wings.
With no other choice, Roy used his teleportation ability to zip back to the beach where they'd fought earlier, narrowly escaping the blue beam.
By now, the beach was deserted. The other ancient sea creatures had bolted—the blue beam was just too brutal, no reasoning with it.
"Damn it, Eluresa, get off me!" Roy grumbled.
The external armor was seriously cramping his style in a fight, making a lot of moves impossible.
Problem was, Eluresa seemed to have passed out again from all the excitement, her body locked up in some kind of unconscious state.
Roy was beyond exasperated.
No time to wake her up—the dinosaur in the sea was already aiming another blue beam his way.
Weirdly, despite being underwater and Roy being so small, it locked onto him like it had aimbot.
Roy countered with a chaos energy beam to hold off the blue one.
For a solid ten minutes, they traded beams, evaporating tons of seawater into sticky green vapor that made the air feel thick.
Finally, the dinosaur's energy ran dry, and it surfaced, ready to brawl with Roy hand-to-hand.
It probably thought getting knocked down earlier was a fluke, not realizing that Roy's strength, boosted by War Domain and Blood Fury, had skyrocketed past 300.
The dinosaur was still judging Roy based on that earlier punch, thinking its size would give it the edge.
Big mistake.
"You're sticking your head out again?" Roy smirked.
Honestly, if the dinosaur had stayed underwater spamming beams, it would've been a real pain for Roy. His swimming speed was trash with the external armor, making water fights a nightmare.
But this idiot surfaced, playing right into Roy's hands.
The bone plates on the dinosaur's back glowed faint blue, and its speed spiked, moving way faster than a fifty-meter-tall behemoth should.
It spun halfway around, whipping its massive tail at Roy with terrifying force, kicking up tsunami-sized waves.
It was like a natural disaster unfolding before him, but Roy didn't flinch. He switched from Nephilim form to Demon form.
The Nephilim form was just too small for this. Even with his strength, it was awkward.
But going full Demon risked hurting Eluresa—after all, mismatched sizes could cause some serious damage.
So, Roy suppressed his transformation, keeping his height at about five meters. It lowered the temporary stat boost, but he wasn't exactly lacking in power right now.
With Blood Fury and War Domain still pumping up his stats, what he needed was the Demon form's hell energy to supercharge the Leviathan Axe.
Sure enough, while his body was only five meters tall, Eluresa took another ton of damage. Her barely recovered consciousness started fading again.
Roy turned to face the incoming tail, mostly to shield Eluresa from harm.
Bam!
The tail, capable of stirring up massive waves, slammed into Roy but didn't budge him an inch. His feet were planted in the sand like they were rooted.
Then, Roy spun, grabbed the dinosaur's tail, and yanked with all his might.
This was the upside of his bigger size. In his smaller form, there's no way he could've grabbed that tail—the size gap was too much.
The dinosaur's weight started pulling Roy into the sand, so he spread his wings and took flight to avoid sinking.
As he lifted off, he hoisted the dinosaur into the air.
This thing was a beast, probably a legendary creature, but it couldn't fly. Roy had it at his mercy.
"Tornado wrecks the parking lot!" Roy roared.
He spun the dinosaur in a wild whirlwind. Good thing Eluresa was locked in place, or she'd have been flung off.
The dinosaur thrashed but couldn't break free from Roy's 300+ strength.
In the end, it got dizzy from the spinning. Roy hurled it skyward, then flew up, wielding a super-sized Leviathan Axe infused with hell energy. With one swing, he chopped off the dinosaur's head.
[Ding! Obtained Godzilla's Fate Chest! Open it?]
Wait, it's actually Godzilla?
[Leviathan Axe has slain a legendary creature. You may choose one rune enhancement.]
A Fate Chest and a rune enhancement? Not a bad haul.
Roy landed gently and gave Eluresa's backside a pat.
"Time to get up!"
After that intense Godzilla spin, Roy could tell Eluresa was awake.
But when he landed, he saw her still pretending to be out, eyes shut tight.
Eluresa cracked her eyes open and wrapped her arms around Roy's neck.
"But you're not done yet!"
"Almost there!" Roy grinned.
For the first time, he didn't shoot chaos energy beams from his eyes, sending Eluresa rocketing into the air.
In midair, Eluresa stuck out her tongue, nearly passing out again.
But today, she'd been through so much her body had built up some resistance. She barely held on.
Roy pulled some clothes from his inventory and slipped them on—he always felt weird being naked. He grabbed a set for Eluresa, too.
"Come put these on!"
"I want you to dress me!" she whined.
The little succubus sprawled lazily on the beach, still reeling from the aftershocks, not wanting to lift a finger.
Roy knew what she was up to. He walked over and helped her into a long dress, though she squirmed the whole time.
"That workout made me hungry again!" she pouted.
Roy rolled his eyes. Workout? She'd just been his external armor the whole time!
"Fine, fine, let's grill some food. We've got plenty now!"
Truth be told, Roy was curious to try Godzilla's flavor. It was a legendary creature, after all, and a famous movie star to boot.
Wonder if Godzilla's tail tastes like nuclear waste?
Roy hefted the Leviathan Axe to carve up the tail. Reptile meat is usually tough and not great for grilling, but the tail's different. It's got a good balance of muscle and fat since reptiles use their tails for balance, making it nice and active.
As Roy worked on Godzilla's corpse, Eluresa suddenly sat up on the beach.
"I forgot something!"
Then she heard a faint cry for help and remembered what she'd overlooked.
"Mr. Scepter! I forgot Mr. Scepter!"
She scrambled up and bolted into the jungle.
After that massive battle, the tropical island's jungle was a wreck. Godzilla's atomic breath had plowed through it, leaving some areas flooded with seawater.
Luckily, the Magnificent Scepter hadn't been blasted by the atomic breath. The tree it was in had been knocked over by another, pinning it to the ground.
With some effort, Eluresa freed the scepter. Its first words upon being rescued?
"Lord Satan, I wanna go home! Please summon me back! Sob…"
The Magnificent Scepter was bawling its eyes out. It'd spent eons in the Tower of Babel without suffering like this. Now, it just wanted to go home, no more "vacation."
Eluresa scratched her head, unsure how to comfort it.
Roy, dragging a massive tail back, saw the scepter covered in mud and offered some advice.
"Mr. Scepter, this was just a fluke. It won't happen again!"
"No! I'm going home! I've got homesickness, and if I don't get back, I'll die!"
Roy frowned slightly.
"I can't exactly send you back to the Dark Abyss right now. How about this: when we get to the Dream Mirage, I'll toss you down. You'll fall back to the Dark Abyss, and Alma will sense you. Then you're home."
The scepter's crying stopped dead.
"No way! Let's keep traveling! Living's pretty great!"
Falling from the Dream Mirage would pancake it for sure. Better to stick with the status quo.
Eluresa burst out laughing at the scepter's quick change of heart, her giggles ringing across the beach like silver bells.
"So that's how it is!" she said.
Inside the pyramid, Leviathan had been watching the fight and had a rough gauge of Roy's strength.
Roy had definitely gotten stronger since last time, but he was still far from Satan-level, confirming Leviathan's suspicion that Roy wasn't the new Satan.
So, the question was: why did Roy have the Magnificent Scepter, a symbol of Satan's authority?
Leviathan had challenged the Golden Throne multiple times and failed, so it knew the scepter well.
"Did the new Satan give the Magnificent Scepter to Roy Black? Then who's this new Satan?"
The easiest way to find out would be to visit the Dark Abyss and meet the new King of Hell, but most demon lords were lying low. Who knew what'd happen if they went there?
Only bold-as-brass Lucifer had made the trip.
"Forget it, not my problem. Roy Black, you dare show up on my turf…"
Leviathan narrowed its eyes and summoned its servant.
"Get me Elliot Spencer!"
