"Wow… this place is better than I thought," Renard said as he looked down at the city of Emberholt from the deck of the airship.
"Of course it is," Chuck said proudly. "It's my city!"
"You mean your father's city," Alex corrected.
"My father's city is my city," Chuck insisted. "I was born and raised here."
Well, if the young man put it that way, Alex and Renard could not counter it.
But the view wasn't the first surprise of this trip.
The airship they were on wasn't a public airship. It was Princess Xenia's airship.
Who knew how it happened? Alex and Renard had gone to the meeting place, ready to leave the academy and book airship tickets. To their surprise, they found Chuck tied to a pole like a pig about to be roasted over fire, carried by two of Princess Xenia's guards.
Renard even looked amused and suggested that the guards add more rope because the troublemaker was a slippery eel.
