"I am also your son. You've divided the family, my money is mine. You've been using the money we earn to support Third all these years, Mom. Don't you feel guilty?"
"Why would I feel guilty?" Old Mrs. Liu was stubborn, but truly scared. Her sons already knew. She didn't have many days left, so she might as well be honest.
"Since you're not listening to me, you can decide for yourself. Whatever I say, you won't hear it anyway."
Liu Laoda grabbed Liu Lai and went out. "Let's go, we'll go find the village chief."
Liu Lai left with a smile. They found the old village chief and explained why they were there.
The old village chief didn't like either of them. They were his nephews, but not one of them had amounted to anything.
"Have you two talked this over?"
"Yes, we've discussed it."
"Laoda, did your mother agree?"
"She doesn't care."
"Alright then, I'll give you this document."
"Uncle, Liu Lai said he'd give me a hundred bucks."
