[Third Person Pov]
Danny and Spectra locked eyes for a single, tense second, the air between them crackling with hostility and unspoken challenge. In the very next instant, Spectra's body was blasted straight out through the back of the bus in an explosion of splintered metal and shattered glass, with Danny surging after her without hesitation.
His expression was hardened with fury and resolve, his glowing green eyes burning intensely while the fist he drew back shimmered with concentrated ecto-energy.
Closing the distance in a blur, he drove his punch forward with relentless force, sending Spectra rocketing upward above the streetlights and the nearby buildings. Danny didn't allow her a moment to recover; he zeroed in on her airborne form and delivered a second devastating punch that cracked against her guard and forced her even higher into the open sky.
Spectra crossed her arms in front of her body, bracing herself as she deliberately tanked Danny's barrage. The impact left a faint bruise along her forearm, a dark mark that lingered for barely a second before her regenerative power erased it completely.
Her lips curled into a furious sneer as she snapped, "You miserable brat! How dare you attack me during my lunch hour!" Her voice carried venom and indignation, echoing sharply through the night air.
With a sharp, dismissive wave of her hand, Spectra retaliated. Ghostly energy surged violently through her body, starting at the very tips of her fingers and toes before racing inward and outward all at once, flooding her entire form with amplified power. Her red coat and wide-brimmed hat dissolved into wisps of vapor that scattered into nothingness.
In their place, her new attire materialized seamlessly: a V-shaped green necklace resting against her collarbone, a black V-neck crop-top trimmed in vivid green along the short sleeves, and fitted pants bearing the same black and green color scheme with a distinct V-shaped waistline. Green thigh-high, high-heeled boots adorned with stylized flame designs formed around her legs, while triangular dark purple dangle earrings shimmered at her ears. Completing the transformation were sleek green gloves that extended the full length of her arms, emphasizing her newly heightened presence.
Danny appeared beside her in a flash, already mid-attack, unleashing a concentrated blast of ghostly fire that spiraled outward in a roaring arc. Spectra's enhanced reflexes allowed her to twist aside at the last possible moment, the flames grazing past her as she pivoted smoothly to retaliate. She thrust her hand forward and fired a 'Ghost Stringer,' a piercing lash of condensed spectral energy that struck Danny squarely in the chest.
The impact forced a grunt from him, his body recoiling slightly, but he merely gritted his teeth and endured the searing pain. Refusing to yield, he pushed through the attack and charged forward again, emerald flames rolling off his shoulders and trailing behind him like a blazing mantle.
"Don't think for a single second that you're going to get away with what you've done!" Danny roared, his speed increasing dramatically as his momentum disrupted the air around him. The pressure of his acceleration created visible distortions, ripples spreading outward as he tore through the sky toward her.
Above the city, the battlefield transformed into a dazzling display of raw power. The skies lit up like fireworks as explosions of light erupted around them, flashes of green and purple energy colliding violently and scattering sparks across the night. Shockwaves rippled outward from each impact, rattling windows below and sending tremors through the atmosphere. Danny and Spectra circled one another in midair, each unleashing waves of powers and abilities in rapid succession, their movements fluid yet ferocious.
Spectra proved to be far faster and significantly stronger than Danny had initially anticipated. Her power had been amplified by every person she had drained and killed, each stolen emotion fueling her like a reservoir of stolen vitality. Every drained individual had effectively doubled her strength, and with a death count exceeding twenty victims, her accumulated power had grown into something formidable and deeply dangerous.
Danny reacted quickly when a compressed blast of energy shot toward him with enough force to shred the air in its path. He summoned a protective barrier just in time, a shimmering shield that absorbed the brunt of the impact and held firm against the assault. Spectra responded by extending her telekinetic abilities, summoning a massive pair of translucent purple hands formed entirely of psychic force. The enormous constructs loomed over Danny, mirroring her precise movements. With a sharp clap of her palms, the spectral hands mimicked the motion, slamming together with tremendous force and shattering Danny's barrier into fragments of fading light.
Before he could fully recover, Spectra tightened her telekinetic grip around him, seizing both his upper and lower halves with invisible force. With cruel satisfaction, she pulled in opposite directions and tore his spectral body cleanly in two. A sharp cry escaped Danny as his divided form drifted apart under her control.
"And then there were two!" Danny exclaimed defiantly, even as the separated halves of his body began to glow. Instead of falling lifelessly, each split portion regenerated, reshaping and stabilizing until two complete versions of Danny hovered side by side. Both clones locked their eyes onto Spectra with identical determination.
The two Dannys roared in unison as they released a powerful repulsive force from their bodies, the same surge of energy he used during his transformation. The shockwave blasted outward violently, slamming into the giant telekinetic hands and tearing them apart into fading fragments of psychic residue.
Freed from her grip, both clones immediately charged forward, attacking Spectra simultaneously. One opened his mouth and unleashed a piercing Ghostly Wail that tore through the air in a devastating sonic assault, while the other fired a chaotic barrage of concentrated Ghost Rays, emerald beams streaking toward her in relentless succession.
…
Bertrand was prepared to rush to Spectra's aid the moment he saw Danny attack her, but before he could move, the bus was struck by a sharp and shrill Canary Cry. The sonic force slammed into the vehicle with overwhelming intensity, blasting it violently to the side as every window shattered at once, glass spraying outward in glittering fragments. The interior rattled from the impact, metal groaning under the strain.
Robin flew in through one of the broken windows without hesitation and brought his anti-ghost staff down hard against Bertrand's torso. The strike connected solidly, sending Bertrand hurtling out of the bus and skidding across the pavement outside. As Robin landed lightly inside the damaged vehicle, Bertrand heard the distinct sound of an arrow being released.
Instinct took over immediately; he phased straight down through the ground and vanished just as an arrow struck the exact spot where he had been standing. It detonated on impact.
Robin saw the exchange and clicked his tongue in irritation as he leapt back outside into the open street.
Bertrand rose from the ground and shot back toward the bus in a streak of green energy. Instead of reentering it, he placed his hands against its frame and began to possess it.
The entire bus pulsed with spectral green light, power rolling off it in thick waves that distorted the surrounding air. Its headlights flared blindingly bright, forcing everyone nearby to shield their eyes. The vehicle's metal frame groaned and twisted as it began to transform, shifting and folding in unnatural ways until its structure elongated and expanded into a towering humanoid shape.
"What the actual f—" Robin's words died in his throat as he stared up at the massive mecha looming over him. "You can't be serious right now."
Robin somersaulted backward just as Bertrand, now fused with the transformed bus, swung a colossal fist downward. The blow tore through asphalt, chunks of pavement exploding upward from the sheer force. Arrows streaked through the air toward the construct, deploying reinforced nets that wrapped tightly around its massive frame. A surge of electricity pulsed through the wires, crackling violently as it coursed across the metal body.
Bertrand cried out in pain, his voice distorted and metallic as it reverberated from within the machine. With a roar of effort, he grabbed the electrified nets and ripped them apart with brute strength, snapping the cables as sparks scattered around him.
Black Canary appeared nearby and unleashed another devastating blast of her Canary Cry. The sonic wave struck the mecha squarely in the chest and sent it tumbling backward, its enormous form losing its footing. Robin seized the opportunity and hurled a barrage of explosives toward its lower half. The detonations ripped across its legs, forcing it to lose balance entirely. The massive construct fell hard, crushing several parked cars beneath its weight as metal crumpled and alarms blared.
They attempted to capitalize on the opening, moving swiftly to press their advantage, but even while down, Bertrand was far from defenseless. From the mecha's glowing eyes, concentrated ghost rays fired outward in twin beams of destructive energy. Green Arrow and Black Canary were forced to leap aside as the blasts tore through the rooftop where they had been perched moments earlier, obliterating concrete and sending debris raining downward.
Robin was not spared either. From the mecha's massive palms, Bertrand unleashed a focused blast of spectral energy that ripped up sections of asphalt and hurled them into the air like shrapnel.
Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Robin worked in tight coordination, communicating through quick gestures and practiced timing as they continued attacking Bertrand from multiple angles.
Robin deployed an array of gadgets specifically designed for ghost hunting, launching containment devices and disruption charges aimed at destabilizing the possession. Canary unleashed repeated cries that rippled violently through the air, each one leaving her throat burning from the strain of sustained use. Meanwhile, Green Arrow released specialized arrows one after another, each equipped with different effects ranging from explosive payloads to energy-dampening tips, all intended to weaken the possessed construct piece by piece.
…
Elsewhere above the city, Danny and Spectra remained locked in a brutal stalemate, both having managed to draw blood from the other. They tore through the skyline at high speed, weaving between buildings and leaving trails of clashing energy in their wake.
Danny had a fist clenched tightly in Spectra's collar, dragging her through the air as he drove punch after punch into her face and torso. His fist was encased in a construct resembling a flaming gauntlet, crackling with concentrated fire as it amplified each blow.
"AH! AH! AH!" Danny shouted with every strike, his voice raw with fury as if he were trying to cave her face in through sheer force of will.
Spectra gritted her teeth through the assault before retaliating. Ghost Stringers erupted from multiple points around Danny's body, piercing into him simultaneously. The sharp, biting pain forced a cry from his throat as the energy surged through him, stunning his movements. She seized the fist of Danny's clone, halting one with each hand.
With a sharp motion, she smashed his bodies together, forcing the separate bodies to merge back into one and immediately unleashing a powerful Ghost Stringer that surged directly through his nervous system, locking his muscles and sending waves of agony coursing through him.
"Hahaha!" Spectra laughed, her voice gleeful and cruel. "I can smell it off of you, you know. The misery. The self-hatred. And it smells delicious!"
"Shut up!" Danny shouted, forcing himself to move through the pain as he lunged forward and headbutted her hard enough to break her nose. Blood splattered through the air in dark droplets. "I don't want to hear it!" he yelled, the words erupting with the force of a Ghostly Wail that blasted Spectra backward.
She tumbled through the air, recovering quickly even as Danny created multiple clones of himself once again, their identical forms surrounding her in a tightening formation.
Spectra only laughed louder, her amusement bordering on manic. "Hahaha! Split yourself all you want, you miserable brat! It won't lessen your pain. It doesn't make the void in your heart any smaller. It will only continue to grow!"
"We said we don't want to hear your bullshit!" all of the Dannys roared in unison, their anger intensifying with every word as they charged at her together, attacking in perfect tandem from all directions.
'This is going to be too easy,' Spectra thought as she watched the swarm of clones rushing toward her. 'The misery that this boy carries, all those negative emotions, will be absolutely delightful.'
